Chapter 239: Envy (3)

"If you need help with creating an escape or what to say to stand up to your father, I can offer you ideas. I am good at planning for conflict. There have not been any good fights sent my way so I could do with aiding you to end my boredom," said Annalise.

Siena was taken aback that Annalise wanted to help her. Even though she apologised for trying to make a fool of Annalise, she didn’t think it would make them alright just yet. She didn’t get the feeling that Annalise was lying about offering her advice. How could Annalise be so kind right now?

"Thank you, but this is something I must do on my own. I will continue to play my role in their games while finding my way out. I might be able to get my father to listen to me, but while I am in Travis’s care, I must plot carefully. Thank you. I needed someone to help push me to not give in to an unwanted marriage and fight for having a choice," Siena said, glad Annalise stumbled upon her.

"I will offer you some advice in return. You need to watch out for Travis. He doesn’t want anyone getting in the way of Rafael marrying me and if he knows who you are, he will come after you. I am supposed to be on the same side as him, but there are days with threats. Please stay safe," said Siena.

"The more I hear about this man, the more I want to kick his ass. Should I?" Annalise asked, but she wasn’t asking Siena for her opinion. She was asking herself about whether or not she should stay to deal with Travis. She needed to pay him a visit for sending Olivia to take her.

If Travis wanted to take her because he assumed back then that she was Rafael’s lover, he could have at least hired someone better to do the job. She didn’t get a good fight out of Olivia and it was almost insulting that he picked Olivia.

Annalise knew it was because no one had any idea of who she really was and the dangers she dealt with when she was not here, but still, to send Olivia was just wrong. Annalise wanted to smack him around, lecture him on how to properly kidnap someone, and then kill him for trying to mess with Rafael and his family. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

What sort of uncle was Travis to toy with his own family? Especially Beatrice who was one of the most harmless people Annalise ever came across.

Siena wondered if Annalise missed everything she said about watching out for Travis and how he scared her. "You shouldn’t. Stay far away from him if you want to live. He will punish the people working for him simply because they stepped out of line. I’m afraid to say that you are a bother to him and he will not hesitate to kill you."

Travis was not the type of person to give you money and a warning to convince Annalise to get out of Rafael’s life. He was more of a kill so the problem would forever be dealt with kind of person.

"Listen carefully," Siena said, touching Annalise’s shoulder to have her full attention on her. "I truly believe Travis wants Beatrice dead. She is his blood sister. A man who can hurt his little sister because she ruined his plans over twenty years ago is not to be messed with. You mustn’t do something foolish."

"I don’t intend to do something stupid. Just get rid of a man who doesn’t know when to quit bothering others. Rafael went inside to find you. You should enjoy the ball instead of thinking about people who are making you unhappy. I don’t care that you are dancing with him. I don’t care now," Annalise corrected herself since she did care not long ago.

"I was thinking of leaving. I am only here because Travis wanted me to get close to Rafael. I don’t want to be by his side when there is another woman on his mind and there are too many questions about the two of us that I don’t want to answer. What would it take for everyone to just dance and not talk?" Siena wondered.

"We would need a lot of string and a hot needle. If you hold them down, I will do it," said Annalise.

Siena started to laugh and covered her mouth after she snorted. "I’m sorry. That was unladylike of me."

"It was a genuine laugh. I cannot believe you apologised for laughing. You look too pretty for you to return home now and it is not like I can dance with Rafael. I’d rather not have to listen to any questions about who I am. The two of you need to work together so you should go speak to him. It is better to speak here where it seems like you two are enjoying time together instead of meeting at his home where it will seem suspicious," Annalise said, looking away from Siena to the garden.

"I thought it would have made you happy to know that I have left. You continue to make me want to be you. I will stay by his side so we can talk about his uncle. Oh, I must apologise for the kiss. I shouldn’t have done that now that I had time to think about it. I’ve made too many poor decisions tonight," Siena admitted.

"You shouldn’t have done that," Annalise agreed with Siena. "For whatever reason you did it, you must have known that I would see. It might have been an attempt to hurt me one last time as you were hurt that he would not pay attention to you. It is honestly okay for you to have one last petty moment. I would be angry too if the man I was told I needed to marry was focusing on another woman."

"You are so calm about all of this that I am starting to think the moment I turn, you will try to put a knife in my back," Siena said since the young ladies she spent time with wouldn’t let this matter go as easily as Annalise was letting it. They would forever hate her for showing up with Rafael and trying to embarrass them.

Siena thought that Annalise was secretly scheming something since she didn’t fully accept the apologies for trying to shame her. If Annalise was doing this, Siena wasn’t going to stop her. Her decisions tonight were not the best, especially when she noticed Rafael’s interest in Annalise before tonight and knew that she shouldn’t expect something to grow between them.

"I don’t think there are any knives around and if I wanted to hurt you, I wouldn’t need a knife," Annalise joked.

Siena smiled, looking down at her hands as she nervously played with her fingers. "If this all works out well and Travis is no longer a problem for us, I hope that we can be friends. The only person I can truly confide in is my maid Kayla and I wouldn’t mind another friend. One who will push me to stand up for myself. I need that."

"If we cross paths again, we could be friends" Annalise answered since it wasn’t for certain she wouldn’t return to this side of the kingdom. "I am trying to focus, but I cannot because of the way he is kissing her. His mouth seems to be covering her nose," she said, pointing to the couple who thought they were out of sight.

Siena followed where Annalise pointed and covered her mouth once again as she laughed. She snorted when she realised how the couple were kissing, but this time, she didn’t apologise. "I think it is their first time kissing. We must go before we are haunted by this."
