Chapter 347: Fired (4)

"Where I am from," Annalise said, grabbing Aria’s hand before Aria could try running away. It wasn’t fair for Aria to slap her and then run away. "Hitting someone means you want to challenge them to a fight. You cannot run away when it just started. Face what you started."

Annalise interlaced her fingers with Aria’s and then pushed forward her hand so Aria’s would go back.

Annalise used her left hand to get a good hold on Aria’s hand, and then with her right hand, she pushed back Aria’s with great force, not stopping until there was a noise to indicate she was successful.

Aria was still in so much shock over slapping Annalise that she didn’t react right away to fight against Annalise holding her hand. She was snapped out of her shock when there was a sudden pain in her right hand, and upon looking at it, her fingers were not the same as a second ago.

Aria released a piercing cry, filling the dining room and reaching the halls surrounding the dining room. Her shock from slapping Annalise was replaced by shock from her broken fingers. Three of her fingers were dislocated.

When Annalise removed her fingers, Aria’s fingers went limp as she had no control over them.

"You broke it," Aria cried, holding up her right hand with her left. Tears filled her eyes as she had never experienced such pain, and her breathing became louder. Her hand then started to feel numb.

"The sound of your bones breaking was pleasing, but I don’t think it will suffice the fact you slapped me. If you were to slap the queen of this kingdom, they would do the worst things to you," Annalise said, taking a step forward after Aria took a step back. "I am no different than a queen at home, and I don’t like someone purposefully trying to harm me."

Aria looked to Rafael for help. She didn’t understand what Annalise meant at home she would be like a queen, but she couldn’t think properly to get the answer because she was concerned about her fingers.

Aria screamed, terrified by Annalise grabbing her left hand. She was afraid of having to face this pain twice. She tried to use her right hand to fight off Annalise, but when her broken fingers touched Annalise, she was stunned by not feeling anything from the impact.

Annalise used this as a chance to break the other fingers. She was going to be easy on Aria at first, but after the slap, she couldn’t. Aria started this fight and Annalise was going to finish it.

Aria could not get away with slapping not only the lady of the manor, but a leader. Aria should be losing her head right now, but Annalise was interested in breaking fingers right now. So, she broke Aria’s other fingers causing a loud cry to fill the dining room.

Annalise didn’t care if the maids in the dining room seeing this would fear her. This was who she was. She had been playing around in the manor, but at home, she had always been quick to kill if someone tried to hurt her

She would snap Aria’s neck now if not for the fact she could use Aria to find out where Rafael’s dungeon was. In the end, Aria was quite helpful.

Annalise gave Aria’s hand a squeeze to hurt her fingers even more right before she let go. "You’ll make plenty of friends in the dungeon," Annalise whispered, glancing at Aria’s hands. "Now, help me find where it is."

To not have to listen to Aria crying, Annalise used her right hand to punch the side of Aria’s face to knock her out. Annalise considered it a good deed for Aria since Aria could rest and not have to bear the pain of her broken fingers right now.

There would just be an aching headache when Aria woke up and some pain from falling to the floor on her hands, but at least that was a problem for later.

"Rafael," Annalise said, placing her hands behind her back. "You should take her to the dungeon. I will join you-"

"No," Rafael replied, getting up from his seat. If he took Annalise to his dungeon, it would be hard to keep her from there in the future. There was also the problem that Annalise might start filling up his dungeon.

Annalise frowned, disappointed she would not be taken there. freewebnøvel.coɱ

"Don’t look so disappointed," Rafael said, patting Annalise’s shoulder as he walked by her. "I will show you one day."

"Why one day? Why not today? I just want to see it. I won’t linger around there or hurt anyone," said Annalise, crossing her fingers behind her back. She could aid in getting information out of someone. She was not squirmish so she could use all types of methods to get someone to talk.

Rafael stooped down to get a closer look at Aria. Annalise had broken Aria’s fingers in one go and there was a bruise forming on Aria’s face where she had been hit. It was moments like this when he was curious about just how dangerous Annalise was.

He was more intrigued than he was concerned. Annalise having the ability to defend herself meant that should he ever lose sight of her, he had to worry more about the person trying to attack her.

Rafael looked forward to challenging her again and this time, he wanted Annalise to actually fight him instead of holding back. The knights would benefit from learning from Annalise.

"You there," Rafael said, looking up at one of the other maids still in the dining room. "Go outside and tell a guard to come take her to the dungeon."

The maid nodded her head and hurried out of the room to tell the others what she witnessed from Aria and Annalise. She also needed a moment to take a deep breath.

"I need to use a bathroom-"

"You are not going anywhere," Rafael said, grabbing Annalise’s hand before she could get away. "I have a surprise for you so can’t go to the dungeon now."

Annalise couldn’t think of what would be better than visiting the dungeon, but with Rafael never letting her down with his gifts, she decided to put off finding the dungeon. She could always explore the manor once more and visit rooms that were off-limits in the past to figure out where the dungeon was. Rafael could not keep it a secret forever.

"I apologise for doing that at breakfast," Annalise apologised specifically to Beatrice as the sight of someone’s fingers being broken wouldn’t bother Ezra. He would have done it for her or worse if she had asked him to.

Just as the people here wouldn’t disrespect their royalty, it was the same for her home. Luckily, Annalise’s family were rarely attacked by their people.

"It is fine. You should not have been slapped. It was uncalled for and I was quite close to getting out of my seat. I have had my fair share of issues with maids, but they have never raised their hands at me. There are big consequences for that, especially with her standing in the manor," Beatrice said, knowing this was not the end of the maid’s punishments.

"You and Rafael would be allowed to do much more like cutting off the hand she slapped you with if you were married," Beatrice added. It was an old law for hurting royals and nobles which was still enforced if needed.

Annalise walked around the table to get back to her seat. She shared a look with Ezra who might have been thinking the same thing as her. She didn’t need to rely on a law to tell her what she could do to someone trying to harm her.

If you troubled Annalise, you were challenging her to a duel, so you need to grab your weapon and try to save your life. When Annalise picked a fight with someone, she expected to go all out until one of them was dead depending on the reason she started the fight.

Annalise had a feeling that Aria wouldn’t be picking any more fights if she were released from the dungeon. Annalise shared a valuable lesson with everyone here. If you cannot fight, you should keep your hands to your side.
