The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 349: Secrets (2)

"I am trying to help you, Siena. To free you from having to face a mistress in the future. I will forgive you for not telling me how close he was with the maid as long as you give me the name," Travis said, allowing her to redeem herself.

Siena wanted to avoid dragging Annalise into this. She couldn’t understand how someone watching them during the trip could think Annalise and Rafael had a relationship. It wasn’t like they acted in love when they were walking around unless there was something she missed.

"Rafael did have a maid during our trip, but I don’t think she is someone he is seeing. A maid of all-"

"It is nothing new. As a man, I know better than you do and from what I was told, I should keep an eye on this maid. The woman he was spotted with at the festival never came out of the manor, the woman I sent to find her failed, and now a maid travelled with him out of town, sticking close to him. Don’t tell me that you failed to see something between them?" Travis said, amused by how women never noticed the obvious.

It was nothing new for men to make more use of their maids. Brave women would take their servant boys to bed.

"Because it looked like it was just a servant walking around with the person she served. I would have told you if I suspected he was seeing his maid because it would ruin my engagement. I spent time with Rafael and even went to a ball with him. If not for us being attacked, I would have spent more time with him," Siena replied.

Travis leaned back in his chair. "So, are you trying to say it is my fault that your precious day was ruined? I still have the task of collecting my sister. It is only so long the madhouse can keep her room empty. So, tell me again, does this maid have a close relationship with my nephew and what is her name? I know you are hiding something from me."

"You know that I like you, but if you continue to lie to me I will have no choice but to force what you know out of you. Do you wish to have your husband running from your bed to a maid at night? Speak up now so I can help you. Why are you reluctant to tell me about this maid?" Travis asked, staring at Siena for her to break.

"What did you discuss with my nephew when you were out of my sight?"

Travis thought Siena wouldn’t be so foolish to get in the way of this engagement. He thought highly of her that she knew what she was meant to do, unlike his sister.

Though he threatened her sometimes, he couldn’t touch a single hair on her head to not piss off her father. It would be only if Siena ruined everything that he would kill her and kill her father to avoid problems in the future.

"We spoke about his victories and what it is like in the palace when he finally talked to me. He is not a man of many words," Siena answered. "He was reluctant to speak to me at first because I annoyed him on the day of his competition, but he ended up asking me to the ball."

"And didn’t take you back home after the ball. He rode home with the maid in his carriage. Surely you didn’t think I wouldn’t have some of my friends watching you. I’m told it was a pretty sight when you danced with him. If I have not seen him with the maid, but suspect he is with her, you must have thought the same," Travis said, pushing back his chair as he stood up.

Siena remained calm though she was nervous. She couldn’t let Travis know Annalise’s name. Why did someone have to let it slip that Rafael was walking around with a maid? It was nothing important.

Travis walked toward Siena’s chair and stood behind her with the knife he picked up still in his hands. "I am not going to play this game with you forever, Siena. I am giving you one last chance to tell me the name of the maid. Pick who you wish to protect. His maid or your maid."

Siena’s eyes widened at the mention of Kayla who had nothing to do with this. She knew Travis didn’t like that she brought her own maid to serve her and there were times Kayla spoke of receiving bad looks from Travis. Kayla was not someone he should attempt to kill, but how was she to stop him?

"Pick quickly or I will pick for you, Siena. Since you are so kind to protect Rafael’s maid, I will assume that you will give up your maid. I require a target tonight," Travis said, knowing Siena had ventured too close to his study.

He didn’t bother to warn her to keep quiet about it since she would not be so foolish to share what she knew with anyone. Siena was smart and it was what he liked about her, but now with her trying to be tight-lipped about the maid, she was getting on his bad side.

Travis was also upset with the fools who did not get the name of the maid for him. He gave them one simple job to report what they saw Siena and Rafael doing and try to take his sister.

"Step forward," Travis ordered Kayla who was standing on the left of him.

Siena bit her lip. She wanted to keep Annalise out of Travis’s sight, but she had to save Kayla. "Her name is Annalise. That is all I know. She is Rafael’s personal maid so it shouldn’t be too hard to find her," she confessed. There was time to make this right and warn Rafael that she revealed Annalise to Travis.

She had no choice but to reveal Annalise because she feared Travis wasn’t playing about wanting to use Kayla as his next target. With him mentioning that Siena wondered if Travis knew she had found out about his night activities.

"Personal maid," Travis chuckled, patting Siena’s shoulder for a job well done. She was late in giving him the name, but she did in the end. "That is a new way of hiding sleeping with your maid. A knight needs a maid to serve only him. It hurts me that you could have been so blind to their relationship. Or maybe my suspicions are true that you know of their relationship and planned on hiding it from me."

"I didn’t think anything of their relationship. I should have been paying attention more," Siena said, looking to her right at Kayla. She considered sending her back to her parents so Travis wouldn’t hold Kayla over her head to make her speak when she didn’t want to. Her only concern was not knowing if Kayla would make it home.

"I won’t be angry with you for long and consider that you were so focused on my nephew that you didn’t notice his relationship with the maid. You have nothing to worry about since I will get rid of the maid. Your first year of marriage should be without sharing your husband," Travis said, walking back to his seat.

Travis didn’t plan on getting involved in the future should Rafael have a woman by his side after he married Siena. He was allowed to do that and Siena would just have to deal with it. He wasn’t allowing it now so Siena would not try to run away from this engagement.

"It is soon time for me to finally meet my nephew. Pick out a good dress for the day," said Travis. He was done with staying out of sight.
