The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 351: Time alone (2)
Chapter 351: Time alone (2)
Annalise closed the door as she entered Rafael’s bedroom. He was nowhere in sight, but she heard someone moving around in the bathroom. Annalise walked to the table filled with food and drinks, along with a set of candles in the middle.
Annalise knew that some people liked candles for dinners because of the mood they added, but she liked them because if she tipped one with her hand, she could set this room on fire. Fortunately, she liked Rafael’s room too much to commit such a horrible act.
Annalise sat down at the table to wait for Rafael’s return. She sat on the left side of the table so she could watch Rafael exit the bathroom. "He does know me well," Annalise said, watching the fire move around with the breeze creeping into the room.
"There is wine," Annalise said, surprised it was brought to the table since Rafael normally did not care for it. Unless it was here as an option for her.
Annalise didn’t see the fun in drinking wine if Rafael was not going to join her.
Just then, the bathroom door opened and out walked Rafael who was stunned to see Annalise already.
"You look surprised to see me. Were you not expecting me? Edwin sent me here saying we were going to eat alone. Should I forget everything I saw and come back later?" Annalise asked. If there was more he needed to do to surprise her, she would give him the time he needed.
"I didn’t think you would be here so soon-"
"What have you done!" Annalise exclaimed, getting up from her seat as she noticed something different about Rafael. "You cut your hair."
"I said that I would cut it. It will grow again," Rafael said, pushing his slightly wet hair back with his right hand. His hair no longer went past his shoulders, but it was enough he could smooth back into a small ponytail if he tried hard enough.
Rafael watched Annalise dramatically walk over to him, raising her right hand which shook most likely from disbelief. She was acting as if he had magically become short or gained a lot of weight. He was so used to cutting his hair when it got too long that he didn’t think he looked any different.
Clearly, his eyes were different from Annalise’s.
Annalise grabbed his shoulders and stared at his face. She was so used to his long hair that she needed a moment to get used to this new sight. Annalise let go of his shoulders and started to walk around him to get a better look at the back.
It was not her hair, but for some reason, Annalise felt like crying.
She circled Rafael and ended back in front of him. "In the future, I think I should be around for a big change like this," she said.
Rafael didn’t see the need for her to be around. "I just cut my hair, Annalise. There is no need to be dramatic and I mostly cut my hair when I am away from home, so you will not be there to have a say," he answered.
Annalise placed her hands on her hips. "What makes you think I will not be there? Are you planning to have me sitting at home like-" Annalise stopped, realising she was getting ahead of herself. "Never mind," she added, turning around to go back to the table.
Rafael caught her hand to stop her from running away like always. "Like the wives here? Is that what you were going to say, Annalise? I already know not to waste my time to ask you to stay at home, but I am happy to hear you are already viewing yourself as my wife. Should I speed up making it official?"
Annalise turned to Rafael. "You would want to marry me that fast? You were trying to run away from your mother telling you to marry."
"I wouldn’t get married because it is what someone thinks I need. I will do it when I feel that it is right and before you grow tired of me, I will ask for your hand in the near future. Hopefully, you won’t mind officially being tied to me," Rafael said, raising her left hand to look at her bare finger.
"Grow tired of you? How many times must I say it? You are a commander of knights, you have enemies, you feud with the border guards, your uncle is trying to get you to marry a woman you don’t like, and I was almost kidnapped because of it. I think life with you will always be exciting," Annalise said, not realising she accepted to marry him in the future.
"Then, I look forward to decorating your hand in the future. It is time that you eat and stop looking at my hair, Annalise. It won’t change if you continue to look at it," Rafael said, leading her back to the table.
"I am just getting used to it. You look a little different with your haircut. Still handsome thankfully," Annalise said. She had witnessed how one big change in your hair drastically changed your appearance. Thankfully, that was not the case for Rafael.
Rafael let go of Annalise’s hand to pull out her chair for her. He helped to push her chair closer to the table after she sat down. "No one will disturb us tonight. Edwin will keep this floor clear for us."
"He told me. I have been having bad luck recently so I am sure there will be someone to disturb us. It all depends on the door staying locked and us not answering if they will succeed in disturbing us. Is this dinner the surprise or was there none and you were trying to stop me from finding the dungeon?" Annalise asked, watching Rafael sit down at the other end of the table.
"There was no surprise. You don’t need to go into the dungeon right now. I will take you one day," said Rafael.
"I will know where the dungeon is by morning. I am certain that you will be taking me to see it," Annalise said, knowing how she would get it out of him.
"I welcome the challenge for you to get its location out of me. First, you should eat. I know that you skipped having lunch so eat up so you are full of energy later. Here," Rafael said, picking up her plate from in front of her to start serving.
Annalise tapped her fingers on the table. She knew it had to be fun for him to remember their first night together. He was in control most of the time even when she thought she was. It had to be a fun sight for him. "What happened before won’t happen again. No matter what tricks you pull," she said.
Annalise wasn’t experienced like Rafael when it came to intimacy, but she was a fast learner so she would quickly come up with a plan on how to break his cockiness. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Rafael could only smile as either way, he would enjoy tonight. There wasn’t a way for him to lose. "Sure," he sarcastically replied.
Rafael filled Annalise’s plate with food while she sat staring at him. Though he looked forward to continuing what they started in her room at the border, it was more important to feed her first.
They had a long night ahead of them to make up for lost time.
