Chapter 626: King Eros’s father

King Eros stood in front of the man that he knew could help them.

He knew what he had to say to him and how to ask for help, but even after that, for some reason, he wasn’t able to utter a word as he was faced with one man that he said goodbye to around 35 years ago.

It was such a long time but looked like nothing less than an hour since they last met.

It was funny how time was said to have healed all the wounds, but it could never dissipate the awkwardness. It only continued to grow.

The subordinates of the man looked at their leader, who wasn’t saying anything and just looking at this so-called King of the Dark Witches.

For a person who cherished every minute with as much importance as a diamond stone for a middle-class man, they were surely amazed to see him sitting idly and saying nothing.

After some time, King Eros scoffed at himself when the man didn’t say anything.

What did he really expect from him?

"I... I need your help," King Eros finally said the words with a heavy heart, and the man’s eyes immediately brimmed with moistness that he quickly blinked away.

It was the first sentence that his son said to him after 35 long years. He had always thought that if they didn’t need them and didn’t want to keep any connection to him, he could do the same. That was the sole reason he started practicing meditation for such extended periods.

But who was he kidding? He missed them every second of his life. In fact, what no one knew about was that when he wasn’t meditating, he would use the finest magic to stalk his son. It broke him completely when he heard of his death.

He wanted to go there and express his sorrow too, but did he really own the right to visit his son when it was his son who banished him from seeing him ever?

From that time, he stopped using his meditation for the purpose and instead directed it to the welfare of nature.

"W-" The man pressed his lips into a thin line, unable to form the words.

He took a deep breath before looking at his subordinates, not wanting to appear weak in front of them.

"You guys collect the herbs for our next course," He ordered them, and the subordinates, who wanted to know what this interaction was all about, looked at each other with a dejected expression, nodding and leaving nonetheless. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Once his subordinates were gone, he stood from his place and walked to King Eros. He hesitated for a few seconds before looking around.

Not being able to control himself anymore, he finally hugged his son, tightening his hold on Eros, and making the man stiffen in his place.

"W-what are you doing?" Eros asked in an offended voice.

"You have no idea how happy I am that you are alive. When you weren’t there... I -" the man stuttered.

"I am sorry. Please forgive me. I am so sorry," The man said, finally saying the words that King Eros yearned to hear 35 years ago.

His eyes brimmed with tears, but he still didn’t want to admit that he was taken aback by his apology and already forgave him the moment he hugged him on his own.

"What does your apology have to do with me now? My mother is long gone," King Eros said and the man sighed.

"And I have lived in the guilt of losing my wife. Can you please forgive me? I haven’t been able to forgive myself ever since. It’s hard for me too, my son," The man said, and King Eros felt his tears rolling down his cheeks, making him sigh.

"Are you happy now? Making a grown-ass man cry like this? Was this what you wanted?" King Eros asked, and the man chuckled sadly before wiping his own tears.

"I am much older than you," He said before he grabbed his son’s hand and pulled him to the icy cube he was sitting in.

As soon as King Eros sat on it, he immediately got up, feeling the chills.

"Seriously? Is this how you are going to avenge your tears?" King Eros scowled, and the man shook his head before clicking his fingers and making a throne seat appear for his son.

"Sit here," he helped his son sit there, sitting on the icy cube himself.

"Tell me what kind of thing you need my help with?" He finally asked.

King Eros’s expression immediately turned grim.

"It’s about my daughter," He said, his words surprising his father.

"You have a daughter too?" He asked, feeling slightly surprised.

King Eros pressed his lips into a thin line.

"Well, rather than going into salvation and meditation, if you had taken on the job of protecting your son’s family when he wasn’t around, you would’ve known all about it," King Eros said before shaking his head.

He wasn’t here to blame anyone for anything.

"My daughter, well..." King Eros told his father everything that happened from how he asked Arizona for help to how he was trapped in that maze and had another child from God knows where, and how Elliana almost sacrificed her life to bring him out.

He also mentioned the locked siren powers inside Elliana, who will take over her if her Magna is lacking and will kill her after two months if the siren powers are not released from her body, which will also kill her, or they make a pact with her magical powers too.

After explaining what happened, he paused and looked at his father, who had a surprised expression on his face.

It was a lot to take in. Why? Because he hadn’t thought anything like that would happen to his son and his family.

He partially blamed himself for it too. Eros was right. If only he had gone once to check up on his family, he would probably have been able to save his granddaughter.

"You don’t need to say anything much. I will help you guys. I won’t be able to fight Azrael or any of her witches directly because of the arrangement of nature and how I took the oath to protect nature and not indulge in any kind of violence when I gained salvation, but I will give that Magna needed to my granddaughter to survive. She will have to survive. A fighter like her shouldn’t die. No. I won’t allow it," Eros’s father said, and Eros finally breathed a sigh of relief.

It was good. He was thinking of a thousand reasons for how to ask him, but it worked on its own.

Why was he hesitant earlier? Because he hadn’t said any good things when they drifted apart 35 years apart.

His negligence and love for meditation were the reason his mother died. She was in pain for 23 long hours as she was struck by a hybrid that she was stopping from surviving because of its evil intentions that were created by a witch.

She was able to kill that hybrid, but in that fight where the hybrid took her to other unknown regions, she was terribly wounded and was bleeding profusely.

None of them had the capability of going to that other region apart from his powerful father who was an expert in finding mazes and traps developed and designed by any witch.

They tried calling him. They knew he was in the middle of his meditation again, thus, Eros was the only one who could call him. However, no matter how many times he called her, his father didn’t come.

His father was busily vouching for salvation from the moon goddess when his wife was dying a pitiful death.

She bled slowly slowly, without healing for 23 long hours before she finally took her last breath. They found her after 28 hours, 5 hours after she was dead, that was because Eros broke his father’s promise and entered the room that had hidden ancient manuscripts on how to locate a maze. At that time, it had taken him around 19 hours to learn an effective method.

Eros partially blamed himself for his mother’s death too. If he hadn’t relied on his father and broken the promise earlier and looked for his mom, maybe she would’ve been alive and none of what they were suffering would’ve happened in the first place.

By the time his father returned, the damage had already been done.

Eros was hurt. He cursed his father and asked him to live alone with no family. That his family died the moment he chose to have salvation over his wife’s life.

It was true that he was hurt by the loss of his mother, but that wasn’t the first time his father left the home and was unapproachable. It was just the first time they suffered such a heavy blow because of it.

"Let’s go?" Eros’s father asked when he saw his son lost in his thoughts, which were loud enough for him to hear, making the man sigh.

He didn’t blame his son. Even he wasn’t able to come out of those memories, how could he accept his son to do so?
