The Mighty Mage-Chapter 465: Kidnapping
Chapter 465: Chapter 465: Kidnapping
One man from the crowd stepped forward. "She’s right. My daughter almost died! I want compensation too!"
"Yes!" someone else shouted. "Ten million yuan for everyone who was on the ride!"
"We all deserve it!"
"Ten million!"
"Ten million!"
The crowd chanted now, united and angry.
The official’s face turned pale. He tried to hold up his hand.
"Everyone, calm down! We’re not sure what really happened yet. Someone may have tampered with the core. That’s not our fault—"
But Gu Jin laughed lightly, a soft chuckle that made the crowd stop and listen again. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"Not your fault?" she asked. "Let me ask you something."
"If someone sneaks into your kitchen and poisons the food, and all the guests get sick, do you say—’Oh well, it’s not my fault’? No."
"It means your security is bad. You didn’t guard the ride properly. You let someone get close to the magic core."
"That is your fault."
The people around her all nodded.
"She makes sense..."
"It’s their park. Their ride. Their mistake."
"Why are they trying to escape the blame?"
A woman shouted, "We should sue them!"
The official gritted his teeth. "Fine... fine! Ten million yuan per person... we’ll discuss it with the higher-ups—"
But Gu Jin stepped forward again.
She raised one hand and said clearly, "I want one billion yuan."
Everyone gasped.
The official choked. "What?!"
Gu Jin smiled, but it wasn’t a kind smile.
"One billion yuan. You accused me, humiliated me in public, and almost ruined my name. That’s called emotional damage."
"Plus, I used my own strength to save every single person here. You didn’t help. You just stood there and blamed me. That’s hero service. Not free."
"And finally... I’m not just some random girl. I’m Gu Jin. An alchemist genius. My time and energy aren’t cheap."
She crossed her arms. "So. One billion. Take it or watch this spread across every news platform in the empire."
The official looked like he had swallowed a rock. His mouth opened and closed, but no words came out.
The crowd clapped again.
"She’s amazing!"
"So smart!"
"She deserves every coin!"
"Give her the money!"
"Give us the money!"
The official’s shoulders slumped as he realized he had completely lost control.
The man in the black cloak, hidden deep in the shadows, watched it all with narrow eyes.
His plan had failed.
’No, I need to deal with Gu Jin today, otherwise once she enters the national training camp, I won’t get the chance to assassinate her!’ He thought.
After the compensation money was handed out, the Gu family lost their mood to travel.
Gu Jin didn’t want to ruin the day and said,
"Let’s go somewhere else. We still have more than half a day. We can’t just return, right?"
Mr. Gu looked tired and still a little pale, but he smiled at his daughter.
"You’re right, Jin’er. We shouldn’t let one bad moment ruin the whole day."
Madam Gu nodded and picked up little Gu Jichun. "Let’s find a quieter place. Maybe a nice garden or lake. Somewhere peaceful."
Gu Jin nodded. "I saw a tea garden on the map earlier. It’s not far. We can relax there."
So the Gu family left the amusement park, along with the other angry visitors who had all gotten their compensation.
The park workers bowed and apologized over and over, but no one looked back.
Meanwhile, deep in the shadows, the man in the black cloak was following from a distance.
................
At the tea garden, the Gu family sat under a wooden pavilion. The wind was soft, the flowers were blooming, and the smell of fresh tea filled the air.
Jichun giggled as she played with a butterfly.
The man in the black cloak watched Gu Jin from behind a large tree. He clenched his fists, ready to attack her while her guard was down.
But then, he saw someone in the distance—a young boy, walking with a nanny. His eyes narrowed. It was the same rude kid Gu Jin had scolded earlier in the amusement park.
An idea lit up in his mind like fire.
Two hours passed. The Gu family had finished their tea and were ready to leave. Mr. Gu stretched and yawned.
"Let’s go. This place really helped me relax."
But just as they stepped onto the path, a loud female voice rang through the garden.
"Please! Has anyone seen my young master?! He was right here!"
Gu Jin turned her head. The voice sounded familiar.
It was the nanny from earlier—the one who had argued with her.
She was crying, tears running down her face, as people surrounded her.
"I only turned around for a moment!" she sobbed. "And he disappeared! He’s gone!"
A kind auntie patted her shoulder.
"Don’t worry, little sister. We’ve already called the police. They’ll find him."
The nanny’s hands shook as she pulled out her phone and called someone.
On the other side of the line, a deep, serious voice answered.
"What is it?"
"Sir..." she said, choking on her words. "I lost the young master..."
There was silence. Then the man’s voice turned sharp.
"You what?!"
"I-I think someone kidnapped him..."
The nanny didn’t know that the man she was speaking to was the Deputy Head of the Magic Division Law.
His face turned pale with fear. He thought of his enemies, his political rivals. Had someone taken his son to get to him?
Back at the garden, the Gu family was about to leave.
But suddenly, five people in black appeared from nowhere, blocking the path.
They were the shadow bodyguards.
"You can’t leave," one of them said coldly. "A child has gone missing. Everyone here must stay for the investigation."
Hearing this, the nanny looked up. Her eyes locked on Gu Jin. Her face twisted with sudden anger and fake surprise.
"It’s her!" she screamed, pointing her trembling finger. "That girl! She must have done it!"
Gu Jin raised an eyebrow. "Me?"
"Yes, you!" the nanny shouted. "You fought with the young master earlier today! You even hit him! You were angry at him!"
Gu Jin frowned. "I warned him about his rude behavior. I never hit him."
The nanny stepped forward, her voice louder now so everyone could hear.
"She hated my young master! She said he had no manners! She said he was trash!"
Gasps came from the crowd.
"She waited for a chance to take revenge! Now my poor young master is missing!"
"She’s the one! She must’ve kidnapped him!"
Some people started whispering and looking at Gu Jin with doubt.
But Gu Jin stayed calm. She crossed her arms and looked at the nanny.
"You said I hit him. Where’s your proof?"
The nanny opened her mouth, but no words came.
"You said I hated him. But I only corrected his manners after he bullied my sister. So does that mean anyone who teaches a child is a kidnapper?"
Gu Jin stepped closer, her eyes cold but sharp like a blade.
"If I wanted to kidnap someone, would I really do it here, in a public place, with so many people watching, right after I just helped stop a disaster at the amusement park?"
The nanny’s face turned red.
"And if I hated the boy," Gu Jin continued, "why would I wait two whole hours before acting? Wouldn’t I have done it immediately after the fight?"
The people fell silent. They began to think. And the more they thought, the more her words made sense.
"She’s right..."
"Why would a girl who just saved hundreds risk her name like that?"
"She’s too smart to do something so stupid."
"She even dared to ask the officials for one billion yuan. Do you think someone like that would sneak around and kidnap a child? That’s just... dumb."
Gu Jin looked at the nanny again.
"You’re lying to protect yourself. You lost him. You panicked. And now you want to throw the blame on someone else."
The nanny trembled. "I-I didn’t..."
But the shadow bodyguards narrowed their eyes at her now.
One of them turned to Gu Jin. "Miss Gu, forgive us. We will investigate this properly."
Gu Jin nodded once. "Good."
The bodyguard then grabbed the nanny’s arm. "Come with us. We need to ask you some questions."
The nanny screamed, "No! It wasn’t me!"
Just as Gu Jin thought the matter was dealt with, a voice sounded,
"Stop!"
Everyone turned around and saw a middle-aged man wearing a blue business suit walking in.
The nanny cried out, "Sir!"
It was the Deputy Head of the Magic Division Law—the missing child’s father.
He walked over quickly and stood in front of Gu Jin. His eyes scanned her from head to toe, cold and full of pressure.
"So, you’re the girl who fought with my son?" he asked.
Gu Jin didn’t flinch. "I corrected his behavior. That’s not called fighting."
The man narrowed his eyes.
"Don’t play word games with me. My son is missing. And you were the last person to have an argument with him."
