The Witcher – Uchiha Madara!-Chapter 185 - The King’s Summons.
Chapter 185 - 185 - The King's Summons.
[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kaer Morhen.

...
"Don't run so fast, Ciri!"
The older woman's voice called out from behind just as the young girl slowed her hurried steps while making her way out of the castle.
Triss approached her.
"They will be here anyway; you don't need to run." The redhead spoke.
"But I wanted to..." Ciri murmured, but soon, a smile formed on the sorceress's lips as she interrupted the girl.
"Remember, a lady must maintain her composure. Men like women who know how to behave." Triss said in a calm tone. "You wouldn't want to appear less attractive to that boy you've been talking about for almost two weeks, would you?"
Ciri felt slightly embarrassed by the insinuation.
The sorceress only widened her smile further and placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, gently pushing her forward.
"Come on, let's go together, at my pace." She urged as they crossed the castle grounds toward the entrance, where Vesemir was already waiting for the newcomers.
It didn't take long for the two of them to reach the location.
A moment later, they spotted Vesemir standing near the training dummies, as three horses entered through the gate. One belonged to Geralt himself, another to Coen, and Ciri was happy to see him. After all, it seemed that he, who had ended up imprisoned by King Henselt, was doing well.
However, the last man was unknown to Ciri. He was a peculiar man, dressed in flamboyant and flashy clothes. If she had to guess, she would say he was a bard like those from Cintra. But her gaze soon shifted away from the stranger and back to the gate, expecting to see a fourth horse enter.
She frowned as she realized there was no fourth horse.
Geralt had already dismounted and was speaking with Vesemir and Coen. Without hesitation, Ciri abandoned the measured pace Triss had imposed and ran toward them, still dressed in her training clothes, as she had been practicing that morning.
"Where is Madara?" She demanded, eager for answers.
Geralt looked at her for a moment before sighing.
"The situation is a bit complicated. He needed to take care of a few things so we could find a solution on how to deal with King Henselt, who, according to Madara, is willing to kill us. He stayed in Ard Carraigh."
Geralt's tone was serious, and Ciri felt her heart tighten with worry. Her disappointed and anxious gaze was soon drawn to another figure approaching. A red-haired woman, her hair swaying in the wind, was advancing toward the group.
"We need to talk about this." Vesemir murmured, scratching his chin while looking at Coen. Then, he turned to Geralt.
"Did they torture him?"
"No... just..." Geralt hesitated. "Well, I can say it was no walk in the park. I took a few hits here and there, but it seemed like they were waiting to see what would happen here. They probably would have tried to execute me as soon as they found out the men they sent here were killed."
Vesemir nodded, though he was visibly frustrated with the situation.
"Triss... So you finally arrived..." Geralt murmured softly as he saw the sorceress approaching, now at Kaer Morhen after Lambert had managed to contact her during her travels.
The woman offered a small smile upon seeing Geralt.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you, boy. How have you been? From the looks of it, you've been quite busy... in ways I wouldn't have imagined." She cast a suggestive glance, discreetly pointing toward Ciri, who still looked disappointed about Madara's absence.
Geralt remained silent for a few seconds before nodding.
"Well, I see you're already familiar with how things work around here." He cast a serious look at Triss. "I assume Vesemir must have had quite a serious conversation about it."
"Yes..." Triss said as Geralt looked toward the older witcher, who nodded at the sorceress's response.
"Now, let's head inside. I'm sure we have a lot to discuss." Vesemir said, as everyone quickly made their way back to the castle.
"Well, this castle looks a bit different from what I've heard... What happened?"
Suddenly, Dandelion's voice echoed through the group as they walked.
"Geralt usually said the castle was always in need of maintenance, but to me, it looks quite well-built."
Vesemir raised an eyebrow and turned his attention to Geralt.
"This is Dandelion... the bard I know." Geralt responded upon noticing Vesemir's look.
"The bard that talks too much?" Vesemir asked with a slightly irritated tone.
"Hey, don't talk about me like that! I am a gentleman!" Dandelion immediately protested from behind, then turned his gaze to the young girl walking near him.
"Hey, you look sad... Maybe a song could help! The great Dandelion can cheer anyone up!"
Ciri only shot him a disdainful look, as if he were an idiot, and ignored him.
"Oh, come on! Someone here must like my songs!" Dandelion muttered as the rest of the group continued walking without paying much attention to him.
Inside the castle, after discussing exactly what had happened and the information Madara had passed on to the Witchers, Vesemir nodded thoughtfully and finally decided to break the silence.
"So that's what happened..." He murmured, reflecting on the facts.
"According to Madara, someone contacted King Henselt. They made the king believe that we might have information about the two..." Geralt explained. "But that wasn't the main reason for the attack. After all, traces of Madara and Ciri could be scattered across the entire continent, but what really motivated Henselt to act was his hatred for non-humans. That includes us witchers..."
"So the boy is beating up the king day after day?" Triss's voice sounded, clearly uncomfortable with the idea. For someone who had served the courts for many years, like in the kingdom of Temeria alongside King Foltest, it was hard to imagine a situation where a monarch was repeatedly beaten—let alone that this would be the solution to a problem the king himself had caused.
No living king had ever suffered such a thing, but that Madara Uchiha seemed to have accepted doing it so easily. Yet, considering everything he had done in the war, Triss shouldn't really be surprised by it.
"I told Madara that it could be risky, but the boy insisted on doing it anyway." Coen murmured.
"I won't say it's not an extreme way to get a king to seek our services, but I'm not surprised." Vesemir shook his head. "That boy has always been quite radical at times."
"If Madara is doing this, he surely knows what he's doing. He always does." Ciri decided to respond, casting a brief glance at Vesemir.
"Well, we have no choice but to wait and see what happens. After all, we don't want an army knocking at our door. I just hope this really works." Vesemir concluded.
"So... we're going to wait for Madara to keep beating up the king until he seeks the help of a witcher?" Ciri murmured, finally grasping the situation. Somehow, she no longer seemed so disappointed by Madara's absence.
"You seem eager to see him." Geralt commented, looking at Ciri.
"Of course I am! I've learned so many things in these two weeks." She replied quickly. "Triss helped me control my powers better. I wanted to show that to Madara... but he's not here." Her voice carried disappointment.
"Anyway, I'll prepare something to eat. I know you all must be exhausted." Vesemir said, ending the conversation as he headed toward the kitchen.
"Great! How about I play a song to cheer you all up?" Dandelion suddenly raised his voice, commenting excitedly, seemingly unaware of most of the discussion they had just had.
"No music." Was the only thing Vesemir said before walking away.
Life at Kaer Morhen continued. Ciri was once again learning about magic with Triss, as the sorceress taught her ways to control her unstable power in many aspects—things that Madara could not teach her.
Ciri's abilities clearly surprised Triss, especially when the young girl demonstrated her skill of teleporting from one side of the training yard to the other. Triss guided her on how to improve it and even taught her a few things about womanhood.
Geralt was satisfied as he spoke with Triss, trying to ensure that she wouldn't tell anyone outside of Kaer Morhen about these events.
In the end, Dandelion began playing his songs around the castle a few times since he couldn't leave until the situation with Henselt was resolved. He spent most of his days composing new songs or simply wandering around the castle. His irritating presence gradually became something everyone got used to.
Meanwhile, the witchers continued their routine of hunts, potion preparations, and training for a possible battle. Vesemir always said it was better to be prepared than to be caught off guard—especially when a king wanted them dead.
It was after a week and a half since they had arrived that they spotted banners appearing near Kaer Morhen. They bore the symbol of the black unicorn of Ard Carraigh.
Quickly, Triss, Ciri, Dandelion, and Coen hid from the visitors, leaving only Geralt at the entrance. The knights approached the gates. There were about fifty of them—a far greater number than last time. They seemed ever watchful, as if looking for someone or something.
"What are King Henselt's knights doing here again?" Geralt murmured, crossing his arms beside Vesemir.
"So, you know about the others who were here?" The leader of the knights responded. He wore armor similar to that of the last commander who had come, but this time, he was not alone, despite clearly being the leader of the group. There were three knights at the front, indicating a stronger force sent on this mission.
"Yes. They came here saying the king wanted us in his presence. We told them we could go when it was possible. After that, they left." Vesemir spoke calmly, lying without hesitation.
The knight frowned, suspicious.
"Lies! You killed them, didn't you?" One of the knights beside him growled, his voice filled with hatred. It was clear he wanted revenge.
"We don't know what happened to them after they left." Geralt replied in a neutral tone. Like any witcher, his lack of expression made lying an easy task.
"Damned non-humans..." The third knight snarled, but the leader raised his hand to silence him.
"We are not here to discuss this right now. We are here by order of the king."
He then pulled out a scroll and opened it before the witchers, reading aloud:
"His Majesty, the great King Henselt, wishes to summon the witchers of the School of the Wolf to the capital to carry out an important task. The king is facing a problem with a curse in his palace. He promises a great reward, and the summons cannot be refused."
Upon finishing, he lifted his gaze directly at the witchers, observing their reactions.
Vesemir and Geralt exchanged glances.
It seemed that Madara's plan was actually working.
