To His Hell and Back-Chapter 206: Pieced The Puzzles-I
Chapter 206: Pieced The Puzzles-I
A drop of sweat appeared from Owen’s temple. He didn’t want to confirm that in the current situation, his master has been weakened. It wasn’t out of shame or pride, rather he didn’t want that Arabella would turn her back towards them upon finding out how weak they are as no one would want to enter a place with a weak leader.
Desperate he shook his head, "Despite that he’s still strong isn’t he? His Highness is magnificent. Right. Right. If you don’t believe me he was the one who had made the potion that had brought you back from death!"
Arabella blinked. Right now that she thought about it something was off. It has been confirmed that there were two mothers who had took care of her. One when she was just born and the other after that incident where she had seen her mother’s neck was slit open.
But in the story that was given by her father, Charles, her mother had used her "witchy" power ever since she was born a stillborn.
So that would mean her birth mother, the one who had died was the one who had brought her back to life.
"Do you mean when I was born?" She asked and Owen, delighted she remembered nodded his head eagerly.
"Yes. Yes! That potion was the one made by His Majesty, one of a kind, a special potion that no one else could ever create. If not for his creation, you wouldn’t have been born to this world, princess. That shows just how much care he has for you doesn’t it?" Owen reached out his hand with a wide sparkling smile but Arabella shook her head in return.
"You’re missing something," she said after a while of staring to his stretched out hands. And Owen’s smile faded as he heard her words, "The two people behind you didn’t remember this but I do. My mother, not the one who was kept in this coffin whilst alive, but rather the one who had given birth to me. The one who had killed her was Your King, am I wrong?"
Owen’s eyes shook, his expression drenched in surprise as well as the panicked expression as he was trying to find a way to convince her otherwise finally faded into nothingness as he knew Arabella had remembered everything perfectly and it wasn’t something he could hide any long. No reasons would be enough to excuse her mother’s death and Arabella wasn’t going to let this one off.
"You don’t understand," he clicked his tongue, gone was his polite expression and tone, finally snapping. "Your mother ran away from the castle and even though she had promised to bring back one of you to the castle, she hadn’t. The King had been so kind to her, allowing so that she could live with that garbage over there, even going as far as erasing all her memories about her power when she needed it. But what had she done in return? She tricked His Majesty’s only brother into running away from the castle for good- knowing well that His Majesty had no one left in his family other than his brother!"
"I remembered how it went," Arabella said, "Yes my mother left your castle but that was forgiven by the King. But you have said it yourself that he had erased all memories of my mother regarding her power or where she had came from. So how could she tricked Morpheus’s brother into leaving the castle?"
Owen’s face twisted as he couldn’t answer to her question. No. It wasn’t that he couldn’t. He just doesn’t know how to as Arabella had brought up a point that Morpheus’s loyalest followers would never dare to question.
She didn’t stop there, continuing with her pressing question, "You have said many things that doesn’t add up and that proves to me how you do not care for my safety or Ariel’s. You want me to follow you not because you want to protect me from vampires or even from the castle. You want me for you know that my blood is important as that is something Morpheus doesn’t has."
She then hummed, finally following something from all the breadcrumbs and knowing that though Owen might not confirm her words from now on his expression would.
She murmured, half to herself, as the pieces began to click into place. "He wants to marry me. He said that before,I remember." Her brow furrowed, voice tightening. "But it’s not love. It never was. He doesn’t want me. He needs me. No. He needs my bloodline."
The weight of the realization settled as she hypothesized the rest of her thoughts, "If that’s true... then yes, it makes sense. He’s bound to that cursed castle, tied to it by some magic or oath or punishment. And the only way to break it... is me. My blood. It would make sense why only my mother and I, despite having the same power, were able to live far from the castle. That means the curse doesn’t bind us. Only those of royal blood can leave and he can’t."
Her voice dropped to a whisper, full of dread, "The only way for Morpheus to escape the curse... is by marrying me."
Owen’s eyes had turned small, shock taking over his face as he realized that Arabella wasn’t as foolish or simple as he thought she would be. She wouldn’t be tricked and she was a step closer to the truth that they were trying to hide so they could trick her into coming to their side.
Owen opened his mouth when suddenly one of the remnant’s body burning in blue flame shoot across his left side like an arrow, thrown straight to the wall behind him until it crashed and caved the wall it had hit.
Then Cassius’s arms reached itself out, placing it casually on Arabella’s left shoulder. His expression was now of a smile, gone was that exhausted act he had played and now replaced with the wide grin as he patted her head as if giving his praise.
His voice was a mix of tease and praise as he whispered, "Good girl. You manage to piece the puzzles together for me." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
