Chapter 690: Tridon’s liberties.

After arriving at the London castle, it didn’t even surprise her when she found Tridon lounging in the very large hot tub inside her personal bathroom in her private wing. The maids were already at work and it didn’t seem like they could detect his presence, that or they had been hypnotized, otherwise, how could they ignore a seven foot tall merman with a wide fish tail that was flapping so noisily.

He had probably done this many times because he was way too comfortable to be a first time visitor. It almost seemed as if he was the house owner and she was intruding on his personal space.

Scarlet closed the door to the bathroom, eased herself and returned to meet the same sight. Only now, Tridon was enjoying wine and cheese as well as listening to music as he relaxed.

The wine was hers and so was the cheese. Even the music belonged to her as he was listening to her collection from old earth.

"You know that you have entire oceans to rule over, right?" She was about to leave, ignoring him when she decided to just turn back and say this.

He was the major deity of every ocean, sea, lake and river in the universe. Why was he choosing to spend time here? Every body of water in the entire universe was practically his hot tub. Was the water in her house any different from that?

"You have rocks from the springs of the underworld deities and demon bone mountain in here. I must say that it’s rather comfortable." He flapped his tail happily and smiled naughtily. "Do you want to join me?" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

She had known that he was going to say something stupid as soon as she saw that crooked smile on his face. It didn’t even surprise him anymore when he said something outrageous to her. She simply responded by rolling her eyes.

"Come on, rumor has it that you and your reaper are not exactly locked in love. I heard that you have been fighting a lot more than before. Is it really true?" He perched himself on the edge of the bathtub and looked at her with eyes that were filled with curiosity. They were shining like those of a young child, eager for information about something important.

She sighed and muttered. "You deities gossip a lot more than humans. This is why you keep making blunders and silly mistakes."

He laughed lightly and said, "Mmm, don’t be stingy. Tell me all about it. I happen to be a great listener and talker, unlike your husband."

"If I tell you anything I am sure that all the other gods will know about it in less than ten minutes. You guys should just use your powers to connect all the universes on one communication network. It’s such a shame to waste your high speed internet which cuts through all the realms on nothing but nonsense. Anyway, I am not telling you anything. Have your fun and don’t make a mess."

She turned to leave but only took two steps and turned back.

In a soft voice, filled with sincerity, she said, "Thank you for everything."

Then she turned on her heels and hurried out of the bathroom without waiting to see the look of gloating victory on his face because she had appreciated him for something.

She heard his vivacious laughter as she walked away and a whisper in her ears which said, "So you also know how to be grateful little reaper. How unexpected!"

"Tch!" she stood still in front of the door leading to the bathroom and responded.

He made it sound as if she was ungrateful for something good that he had done for her in the past. To her memory, the only time he had been helpful was in that council meeting of the gods. He had been on her side right from the beginning and he was not shy of expressing it.

"Hey Tridon why did you stop us from fighting by the way?" she whispered to the air.

Carnelia had called him a warmonger, a deity that escalated wars. His actions at that council meeting had surprised her. Single handedly, he had seen to the end of that particular war.

His voice, carried by the wind came to her ears. "Because, we have never actually died for real in our wars, deities or our beings. That’s why gods fight wars all the time, we are invincible. If we become vulnerable to being erased then everything changes and suddenly everyone is wary. Thanks to you, no one will be starting any wars with the underworld realm anytime soon."

"Good." she replied.

She heard his voice again, laughing this time round, deeply with a bit of mockery that annoyed her. He could make his point without making it seem like she was missing the larger picture.

"What is it that I do not see?" she asked him.

"That war is good for us all." he answered. "Immortality is long and boring. Did you not see how many gods turned up in large numbers to watch the war? Or maybe it skipped your eyes how happy your fellow reapers were when they were preparing for it. It’s a chance for everyone to work off some steam and work out old grudges.

The council of gods is meeting again soon and the subject of discussion is you. Most deities don’t want you fighting in any war so they plan to petition the old gods to make it happen. Apo is spearheading this movement and he going to see to it that you are forbidden from participating in any wars. The underworld won this round so he is preparing for the next one already."

Scarlet couldn’t help the sneer which formed on her face. She was right after all, the god of life was a sore loser. He was not even taking the time to lick his wounds and already he was looking for ways to trim her claws. He was afraid of her strength and he couldn’t defeat it so he had decided to bind it when it would cause him the most damage.

Such a petty asshole, she thought. "What makes him think that there will be a next one?" she asked Tridon.

"There is always a next one, and another one and another. It could take ten, twenty, one hundred, or one thousand years. Time is not a concept we care to measure because we have it in abundance. At some point, something will happen again and it will escalate the already tense relationship between your two realms which will lead to war again."

In her unvoiced opinion, Apo himself was going to set the stage for the next war. He would lay traps here and there and control a few events until he found a reason to claim that the underworld had offended him again.

"Well, those are tomorrow’s problems." Tridon said in a lazy voice, "Do you want to come and join me in the bath? It’s warm in here and I have a big....."

"Lalalalalala..." she put her fingers in her ears and shouted loudly.
