Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife-Chapter 698: Pain, indefinite and endless.
Chapter 698: Pain, indefinite and endless.
Scarlet was right, of course, the eyes of the gods could not be escaped. Those that were interested were watching from their realms or Scarlet’s London castle.
Those that were in the castle were watching the drama as they thought of it on Scarlet’s screen, projecting it as if it was truly a movie.
Even the babies had been taken out of their beds and different deities were carrying them in their arms as they watched while Justin was put to sleep.
Some of them had drinks in their hands and it almost seemed like a party in a way. One more deity had joined the group and he was sitting besides chaos, eating coco cereal that he got from Scarlet’s kitchen.
He was the god of insects, the one who was making it possible for everyone to watch the drama because he had one of his insects watching them.
Commentary in the room had not died down right from the beginning and every deity had an opinion to share.
The goddess of hope couldn’t help sighing as she watched the two crying as they embraced. "I had a feeling that things would be heading in this direction."
"It was to be expected the moment he asked her how she could not have known about Nyx. Tsk, tsk, he has so much pain and anguish stored up." Chaos commented.
Bouncing the eldest of the babies in her arms, Lythia said with a smile which she was maintaining for the baby, "I don’t understand. I thought everything would work out now that all the chaos had died down."
The old deity shook his head and said, "Nyx and Esong becoming one doesn’t take away the anger Esong has towards him. In a way, I understand him which is why i wanted him to destroy the human consciousness completely. Now that they don’t have to focus on the war, all the emotions are coming to the surface and it’s all ugly."
"Are they breaking up?" The goddess of love asked sadly.
Carnelia said. "It’s not breaking up but taking a break."
"I don’t know why they can’t just hug and be happy." the goddess of happiness commented.
"Because they are different people from who they used to be." The old deity replied. "He is no longer plain human Esong but an immortal reaper and he knows that she is not dumb original Scarlet but grim reaper Su Yan from another planet. Now, they must evaluate their marriage as much as themselves. Will they be better together or apart."
"I think this is a good thing. She should be learning how to be a better Kopuko." Apheitos teleported in and commented.
The other deities did not necessarily appreciate that sentiment.
"You do know that her kind is dangerous to us, right?" Carnelia asked.
Apheitos shrugged and he said, "I know that her husband is a weak point for her and if she wants to grow as a reaper and a kopuko then she needs to find a sense of purpose that is not attached to him."
"They are returning, we should hide, quick." The god of insects told the others and they teleported away quickly.
The gods did not go far, they simply moved to the children’s nursery, guest bedrooms or the kitchens and prepared themselves to continue eavesdropping.
The couple teleported in at the same time as Su’s arrival to Scarlet’s wing. When they rushed into the room with urgency to stop the fight between the couple, they stopped short after what they found.
Scarlet was sitting in a chair with her head in her hands while Esong was standing by a window with his head lowered.
The environment was rather somber. It was obvious that something had happened here, something bad. All of the Su’s had come because they all happened to be home and all of them were now filled with worry. Loud shouting, they could understand but this silence, they couldn’t.
"S...S...Scarlet." Mega approached her daughter nervously.
Scarlet raised her head, exposing her tear filled swollen red eyes.
"Mother.." Brokenly, she cried out. She stood up at once and threw herself into Mega’s arms crying out loudly, "Mother, it hurts. It hurts so much."
Even though it had been her decision to take a break so that they could recover independently before maybe coming back together, it didn’t mean that the pain had been numbed. When she set her eyes on her mother, it seemed to triple in fact.
She sobbed loudly, broken hearted sobs that pained her family.
"What happened?" Anxious, Dorian asked.
He was looking at Esong. Adler had said that the two were arguing but he didn’t think it was this bad. His daughter was clearly in pain.
Even the deities, some of them were concerned when they listened to Scarlet’s gut wrenching sobs. The goddess of love in particular wanted to dash into the living room and fix it but Carnelia was holding her back.
"What did you do?" Adler barked at Esong.
He was not soft in his asking the way their father was. All he knew was that his sister was crying and her husband was the cause.
Beord was holding Elroy back because like the hot head he was, he was ready to spring into action.
Carolyn and Fey had their fists clenched and traces of red in their eyes. The two appeared to be on the edge, close to breaking down themselves.
Someone must have informed Cecily and Etienne Wu because their voices were heard at the entrance of the door. Cecily was ordering the maids and guards to get lost.
As soon as Esong heard their voices, he climbed up the window and flew out. He used his grim reaper wings but everyone assumed they were part of his armor.
Mega walked Scarlet away as more people arrived, taking her to her bedroom. Whatever was going on, her daughter didn’t need to become a public spectacle.
When they were gone, everyone just sat down with grave looks on their faces, wondering what had taken place and feeling lost.
"It’s bad, i don’t know what happened but i know it’s bad." Carolyn whispered. "How did it get this bad?"
She had smelled a rat when Scarlet raised that divorce issue. Which woman talked about divorce so casually after giving birth?
"What happened here?" Cecily asked them.
Nobody could give her a proper response as they were confused themselves.
"I am not surprised that it’s bad, the signs were all there if one looked close enough." Fey suddenly said.
Her statement had everyone looking up at her with questions in their eyes.
"You guys have your own lives so you were not around as much in the weeks leading up to when he went off on that mission. I also only realized that something was abnormal because I am her secretary. Her eyes were often red, so I knew that she was crying a lot. And then she left home suddenly for what...two months?"
"Then she returned and isolated herself." Elroy completed the timeline. "She was smiling a little less than usual."
"She avoided all talk about him." Adler shared.
"Are they really getting a divorce?" Carolyn asked.
The others looked at each other and shook their heads. They didn’t know what was going to happen moving forward and all they knew was that they needed to be here for when she needed them.
"Where is Justin?"
"With the babies." Adler told them.
"Thank the gods he hasn’t seen this." Dorian sighed in relief.
They continued a long vigil which would last all night, no food and no drink, just worry and anxiety.
