Urban System in America-Chapter 70 - 69: Instructions From Masters
Chapter 70: Chapter 69: Instructions From Masters
The Next Morning – 6:00 AM
He woke up, feeling refreshed and energized... well... not like he didn’t every day. Waking up full of energy had become second nature by now.
Slipping out of bed, he pulled the curtains aside, letting the golden glow of dawn spill into the room. The warm sunlight kissed his skin gently, while the soft hum of birdsong and a faint breeze carried the invigorating scent of dew-kissed earth.
There was something about mornings like these, he really enjoyed...quiet, full of promise and energy, that made everything seem a little more possible and enjoyable.
Changing into usual sports attire, he specially picked up a pair of headphones to listen to Emma’s song.
But today was a bit different from usual, because just as he came downstairs, he found Victor and Kaelan already waiting for him.
Victor and Kaelan stood there, both dressed in sleek, black sportswear with their arms folded, calm and poised
He blinked, surprised. "Morning, guys."
"Good morning," they replied almost in unison.
"When did you bring this?" he asked curiously, pointing at their matching workout gear.
"Oh, this? Knowing the boss’s routine, we had someone from the company deliver it last night," Victor chuckled.
"Oh, okay. Let’s go..."
Without further ado, he slid in his headphones and took the lead, the music flowing into his ears as his feet hit the pavement. Behind him, Victor and Kaelan followed at a respectful distance...close enough to intervene if needed, but far enough to give him space.
Breathing in the fresh morning air, he played the songs amid the hustle and bustle of the morning.
As always, the weather was excellent today too. He saw a number of elderly residents out for their morning walks, some of whom he recognized from past memories, and he would occasionally nod at them with a smile.
While running, he went over the plan for the day. First of all, he had to get a general understanding of the stock market. So, learning about that would be the top priority these days, as he still had some time before entering the market.
’First, get a general grasp of market trends. Then—’
His thoughts were abruptly interrupted as he spotted a familiar figure a bit farther ahead near a corner.
That same fitness beauty, he had seen a few days ago.
She stood out easily, her lean, toned figure in sharp contrast with the elderly walkers around her. Even from this distance, she was unmistakable. easily recognizable.
Speeding up his pace, he tried to catch up. But just ahead, she turned a corner. Not wanting to miss her again, he sped up even more—practically sprinting now. But the distance was quite significant. If he didn’t have good eyesight, he wouldn’t have been able to recognize her from that far.
Behind him, seeing Rex speed up, Victor and Kaelan exchanged a look and silently increased their pace too.
Breathing raggedly, almost panting, he finally reached the corner. But turning around, she was gone. Not even a shadow remained.
"Damn, not again," he grumbled in frustration, his breathing heavy, sweat glistening on his forehead.
It was the second time. The second time he’d lost her, and in the exact same way, appearing out of nowhere, vanishing just as quickly.
He was a bit speechless. It really seemed like they weren’t meant to be.
Soon, Victor and Kaelan reached him, their breathing steady, not even a drop of sweat on their faces.
"Boss? Everything alright?" Victor asked, raising a brow.
Seeing their relaxed posture and comparing it to his own, panting like a dog, he felt even more frustrated. Waving his hand, he said, "Nothing. Just wanted to test my stamina a bit."
After taking a few deep breaths, he forcibly composed himself and, with great determination, started jogging again. He vowed to increase his stamina and overall fitness, his speed faster than before.
Taking a slightly longer detour, he finally reached the park, his breath ragged and clothes soaked with sweat, as his shirt clung to his back.
But he didn’t care much. After a brief rest on a bench under a tree, he began stretching, then moved into his usual exercises...push-ups, squats, planks.
He knew that to get a fit and healthy body, he needed at least this much effort, and he was determined to live a long, healthy life.
Seeing him start exercising, Victor and Kaelan didn’t join. These exercises were child’s play to them and didn’t really have much effect on their battle-trained bodies.
At first, they calmly observed everything. But as the seconds ticked by, Kaelan’s sharp gaze began to narrow. His body itched to correct the form errors he kept seeing, misaligned wrists, flared elbows, sagging hips. He exchanged a glance with Victor.
Exchanging an understanding look, Kaelan finally stepped forward. When it came to things like fitness and workouts, no one—no one—was his match. Not during his special forces days, nor now in the company.
Seeing Kaelan approaching, Rex paused and looked at him curiously. "Something wrong?"
"Boss, if you don’t mind, there’s a slight mistake in your form, I can demonstrate the right technique if you’d like." Kaelan said as gently as possible. They didn’t know his personality yet and were afraid he wouldn’t like being corrected.
"Oh? Sure, go ahead," Rex said, wiping sweat from his brow. not minding it at all. He wasn’t a fitness freak—heck, he didn’t even exercise properly in his previous life. All he knew about working out came from doom scrolling on social media.
So, he didn’t mind being corrected. They were experts in this field and definitely knew much more than an amateur like him.
Hearing this, Kaelan silently breathed a sigh of relief. At least he was someone who could take advice, unlike most teenagers these days who thought they knew everything, unaware that their seniors had spent years mastering things they’d only just discovered.
Pushing those thoughts aside, Kaelan quickly got into a standard push-up position and demonstrated the correct form, patiently explaining every single step and the mistakes to avoid.
He knelt beside Rex, his voice steady and composed.
"You’ve got the right idea, but your form’s off. That angle will mess up your shoulders over time and you’ll easily strain your shoulders that way, and it won’t do much for strength either."
Sliding into a perfect push-up position, he demonstrated slowly and deliberately., he continued.
"Hands should be directly under your shoulders. Not too wide, not too narrow. Keep your back flat... imagine a straight line from your head to your heels."
Lowering himself in a slow, controlled motion, he explained further.
"When you go down, do it with control. Elbows at about a forty-five-degree angle. Not tucked too close, not flaring out. Engage your core—don’t let your hips sag."
He pushed up again, his voice calm.
"And when you come up, keep the movement clean... no jerking. Don’t lock out your elbows. Just enough to finish the rep and go again."
Sitting back on his knees and meeting Rex’s eyes, he spoke gently.
"Most mistakes come from rushing or poor alignment. Do it right, even if it’s slower. That’s how progress happens."
"Try it again. I’ll guide you through it."
Throughout the process, Rex didn’t say anything. He quietly and seriously absorbed every single point. Hearing this, he nodded, remembering everything. Then, without hesitation, he dropped into position and tried again.
"Yes, just like that". Kaelan encouraged. "Try to keep your body straighter. Perfect."
"Like this?" Rex asked, adjusting slightly.
"No, don’t flare your elbows too much. Yes, just like this... a bit closer—perfect. Now perform a complete push-up." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Oka—perfect."
Seeing Rex learn so fast and his push-up becoming almost standard, Kaelan nodded heavily with pride, quite satisfied with Rex’s serious attitude and his own teaching.
Next, Kaelan moved seamlessly through the other exercises—squats, lunges, planks—his form clean and deliberate.
Rex stood nearby, arms crossed, watching with growing focus.
"Control the movement," Kaelan said between reps. "Don’t let momentum do the work..."
He shifted into lunges. "Balance. Every step is a test of focus, not just strength. And..."
Rex nodded slightly, unconsciously adjusting his stance to mirror him.
Kaelan dropped into a plank. "Tighten your core. Imagine a straight line from your head to your heels, just like before..."
Burpees followed.
"Explosive, but clean. Power without losing form."
His voice slowed as the exercises did, each word more like a thought spoken aloud than an instruction.
Rex stepped forward, mimicking the motions in silence.
Kaelan glanced at him, offered a small nod, then turned away—his voice growing softer, less frequent.
"Good. That’s better... don’t forget to breathe..."
The sun rose higher and higher, casting golden light through the trees. Shadows stretched across the dew-speckled grass.
Their voices gradually faded, blending into the quiet rustle of leaves and the slow rhythm of morning. Occasionally, people stopped by to look curiously before turning away.
