Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 547: I still get jealous.
Chapter 547: I still get jealous.
"Would you like to see me use my powers to make them grow faster?"
Xiang Yu straightened, intrigued. He knew Da Hei wasn’t the strongest among the Awakened, but this greenhouse partially existed because of him.
"Show me," Xiang Yu said.
Xiang Yu fetched the twins, Lian and Mei, and the four of them headed outside the city. Da Hei would have preferred it if it were just him and Xiang Yu, but Xiang Yu had insisted the twins come along.
The sun was high in the sky, casting sharp shadows over the cracked, dry ground. The air was thick with tension, though no one spoke of it.
Xiang Yu turned to the twins as they walked, his tone casual but probing. "So, do you have any antidotes for the plants?"
Lian glanced at him, her expression thoughtful. "We have one for the venomthorn vines," she said.
Xiang Yu nodded, his smirk faint but present. "Good. The bloodbloom spires release a hypnotic scent, which isn’t ideal. And the ashroot stranglers’ pollen causes respiratory distress. So, we’re left with two choices, the venomthorn vines and the nightshade maw."
Mei chimed in, her voice bright and matter-of-fact. "We definitely have an antidote for the venomthorn vines, but not the nightshade maw."
Xiang Yu glanced at Da Hei, his tone shifting slightly. "Do we have enough to cover the city?"
Da Hei bit his thumb, his brow furrowing as he thought. After a moment, he nodded. "I think so."
Xiang Yu’s smirk widened. "Good. So, will you show us?"
Da Hei hesitated, his gaze flickering toward Xiang Yu. He wanted to impress him, to show off his skills. But before he could answer, Mei interjected, her voice bubbling with excitement. "Yes, yes, show us! We are so excited!"
Da Hei pursed his lips, his fingers curling slightly in frustration. He had wanted to share this moment with Xiang Yu, not with the twins. But he didn’t argue.
Instead, he knelt on the ground, pressing his hands to the cracked, dry soil. The earth beneath them shifted, the ground parting to form a small hole, just enough for a potted plant.
Carefully, Da Hei placed the plant in the hole, covering its roots with soil. Then he activated his powers again. The supple, thorn-covered vine began to grow rapidly, its vines stretching and thickening, becoming stronger and more menacing.
Da Hei’s face was a mask of concentration, sweat beading on his forehead as he worked. Eventually, he had to stop, the effort too much to sustain.
Lian clapped her hands, her eyes wide with admiration. "That is so cool!" she said, her voice full of genuine praise.
Xiang Yu grinned, his tone light but appreciative. "That is a pretty cool power."
Mei tilted her head and asked curiously, "Can you make them dance?"
Da Hei’s ears turned red, a mix of embarrassment and giddiness washing over him. Xiang Yu had praised him, and his heart swelled with pride.
But Xiang Yu quickly turned to Mei, his tone slightly scolding. "Such an exhausting power and you want to waste it on making plants dance?"
Mei shrugged, her grin unapologetic. "I think it would be funny and cute."
As the four of them chatted and laughed outside the city walls, none of them noticed the figure watching from a distance. Han Xin stood atop the wall, his arms crossed and his expression dark. He was beyond annoyed with Xiang Yu.
A few minutes earlier..
He had assumed Xiang Yu was at home, taking a nap as he’d said. But when he arrived, the house was empty. He brushed it off, thinking perhaps Xiang Yu was with Lian and Mei.
It wouldn’t be the first time Xiang Yu had wandered off to chat or joke with the twins. But then, one of his subordinates approached him, hesitating before speaking.
"Lord Han," the man said, his tone cautious, "Xiang Yu is outside the city walls with Da Hei." freewёbnoνel.com
Han Xin’s face went still, his dark eyes narrowing. Da Hei. The name alone was enough to stir a deep, unrelenting darkness inside him. He had seen the way Da Hei looked at Xiang Yu, those lingering stares, the way his gaze seemed to undress Xiang Yu with a quiet hunger. It was subtle, but Han Xin had noticed. And it made him furious.
Jealousy burned hot and unrelenting in his chest, a fire he couldn’t control. Since he and Xiang Yu had agreed to be a real couple, Han Xin’s possessiveness had become almost unbearable.
The thought of Xiang Yu spending time with Da Hei, laughing and chatting like old friends, was enough to make his blood boil.
Without a word, Han Xin stormed out of the house, his strides long and purposeful. He made his way to the city wall, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
The air around him, once still and calm, began to stir. A faint breeze picked up, growing stronger with each step he took. By the time he reached the wall, the wind was howling, whipping through the streets like a harbinger of his anger.
Han Xin climbed the steps to the top of the wall, his gaze fierce and piercing as he looked down. Sure enough, Xiang Yu was there, standing close to Da Hei. The twins were with them, but Han Xin barely noticed.
His focus was entirely on the two men, Da Hei’s appreciative smile, the way he leaned in slightly as Xiang Yu spoke. It made Han Xin’s chest tighten with raw, primal jealousy.
The wind around him intensified, the calm day turning into a brewing storm. Sand and dust swirled in the air, the gusts tearing through the dry landscape. Han Xin’s jaw clenched as he watched, his anger manifesting in the chaos around him.
Xiang Yu felt the shift in the air almost immediately. He glanced up, his smirk fading as he caught a glimpse of Han Xin’s figure atop the wall. But before Xiang Yu could call out, Han Xin turned and walked away, his back rigid with barely concealed fury.
"Xin-ge!" Xiang Yu called, his voice almost lost in the howling wind. But Han Xin was already gone, disappearing into the storm he had created.
The twins looked around, their expressions alarmed. "We need to get back inside," Lian shouted over the wind, shielding her face from the flying debris.
Xiang Yu nodded, his gaze lingering on the spot where Han Xin had stood. He could feel the weight of Han Xin’s anger, the storm a clear manifestation of his emotions.
"Let’s go," he said finally, his tone firm. "We will head back."
As they made their way toward the city gates, the storm continued to rage around them. Xiang Yu’s mind was elsewhere, his thoughts consumed by Han Xin.
He had seen that look before, the fierce, almost possessive glint in Han Xin’s eyes. It was jealousy, raw and unrelenting. And though Xiang Yu knew he should be annoyed, a small part of him couldn’t help but feel a flicker of satisfaction.
Once inside the city, Xiang Yu quickly made his excuses to the twins. "I will catch up with you later," he said, his tone distracted.
Lian and Mei exchanged a knowing look before Lian said, "Master take it easy on how big brother."
Mei chimed in, saying, "Yeah, he can’t take any more of your teasing." Xiang Yu just chuckled before walking away.
