Chapter 127

There was still some time before the protagonist’s moment to show off, but he happened to encounter a strange person.

Xiao Feng.

Hmm, how to put it—the “entertainment industry” arc of the story had its own villains, and Xiao Feng was one of them. He was a male celebrity, a popular idol, and constantly caused trouble for Ye Aotian, the protagonist, by creating issues on set, throwing diva fits, and so on.

But, these were all minor acts, serving indirectly to create more chances for the protagonist to shine.

Still, what does this guy want with me?

Generally, unless Chen Fan had to interact with someone, he couldn’t be bothered to engage with them.

“Master Chen, hello, I’m Xiao Feng.”

Chen Fan frowned. “What do you want?”

“Oh, nothing much. I just didn’t expect that the famous eldest young master of the Chen family would turn out to be you.”

“Oh? Do you think I’m unworthy of the title?”

Xiao Feng hurriedly explained, “No, no, it’s not that—I just didn’t expect to meet you in this little town.”

Chen Fan laughed and said, “Just tell me what you’re here for. If it doesn’t interest me, leave while I’m still in a talking mood.”

Xiao Feng sneered slightly, then said, “I think we have a common enemy. I dislike Ye Aotian too. I think I could help you take him down.”

Chen Fan paused, then burst out laughing. “Take down Ye Aotian? With your help? Do you even know what you are in our eyes?”

Xiao Feng didn’t dare answer.

“To us, you’re just a commodity. Know your place. What makes you think you’re qualified to talk to me as an equal? You think you’re on my level? You’re not even worth the spit to look in the mirror and reflect on yourself. There are plenty of male stars in this industry—any one of them could climb up. Now, get lost.”

Xiao Feng’s face was burning with anger, but he didn’t show it. He forced himself to walk away.

Xiao Feng had learned about Ye Aotian’s true strength. Ye Aotian controlled all the nightlife in Qincheng, and what’s more, the entire city’s supply of Life-Sustaining Soup was his doing.

In their circles, this elixir had become a hot commodity—a miraculous longevity booster. The more he found out, the more frightened he became. Even the Ling family supported Ye Aotian. It was laughable that he’d been going up against someone like him.

This was suicide! In this area, Ye Aotian’s power was absolute, and only Chen Fan could counter it.

Chen Fan’s words, however, had caused Xiao Feng to lose his composure.

So, everyone looks down on me?

“Hey, Feifei, where are you going?” Xiao Feng called out.

Liu Feifei paused. “Don’t call me Feifei anymore. There are two Feifeis on set, and one of them is Big Brother Fei Fei. You’re causing confusion. Call me by my full name.”

Then, she ran off.

At that moment, Xiao Feng’s anger fully ignited. Damn it, does everyone think I’m worthless? Fine.

He turned to his assistant.

“Tonight, find someone.”

“What for?”

“Have them kidnap Liu Feifei and send her to Chen Fan’s villa. Then inform Ye Aotian—I want to see them fight to the death.”

“Got it.”

Xiao Feng sneered at everyone around him. Bully me? You’ll all pay the price.

By around six in the evening, the group Chen Fan had been waiting for finally showed up.

A dozen people arrived, holding various objects and making a ruckus, clearly here to collect “venue fees.”

This wasn’t really about venue fees; during movie shoots, most locations were arranged in collaboration with local governments. Usually, these troublemakers simply saw rich celebrities and tried to extract some cash. It was basically extortion.

The director was quickly surrounded by his team for protection. “We’ve already paid. Why is there someone else demanding money?”

“You paid someone else, not us. We’re asking for more.”

Ye Aotian stood up and said, “Who are you? Don’t you know where you are?”

“Oh, look at this pretty boy, probably climbed up the ladder by cozying up to some rich lady.”

You’re asking for it.

Ye Aotian rushed forward and started brawling with the group. Since they were mostly regular thugs, he didn’t hit too hard.

However, they had brought weapons. But Ye Aotian’s strength had indeed grown, as he punched one of the shovel handles and broke it.

For a moment, the group seemed unsure of what to do next. Then, someone sprang out from behind and tried to hit Ye Aotian on the back of the head with a stick.

Ye Aotian wobbled, then turned around, spotting Ling Yuyan. “It’s you, isn’t it? I’ve been feeling like someone’s been sneaking up on me for days now. Didn’t think you’d walk right into my hands.”

Damn, this guy had developed a resistance. That’s ridiculous! Why is it that now, hitting him in the back of the head doesn’t work? Fine, time to go all out.

Ling Yuyan hadn’t taken into account that Ye Aotian had leveled up; his strength had grown.

The force she’d used before was no longer effective. Damn, this guy really is the protagonist—the speed of his growth is insane.

Without a word, Ye Aotian threw a punch.

Ling Yuyan dodged.

Suddenly, a stick smacked Ye Aotian on the back of the head.

Ye Aotian reached up to touch the spot.

Damn it, who keeps trying to sneak-attack me from behind?

He turned around to see two people in masks.

Just as he was about to speak, another stick came crashing down on his forehead. The blow was powerful, breaking the stick into pieces. Ye Aotian’s head spun, and he collapsed to the ground.

The three women exchanged glances and quickly fled.

The onlookers were left in shock.

What are we supposed to do now? Damn it, how should we handle this?

“We should call the police,” said the director, urging everyone to send Ye Aotian to the hospital before things got serious.

Meanwhile, from his distant perch, Chen Fan was utterly bewildered.

Damn, does this count as the protagonist showing off? After all, he did deal with a dozen people.

Everyone around was also exclaiming in surprise.

It probably counts.

Chen Fan sighed. Damn, where did these three lunatics come from?

Ling Yuyan, he could understand, but who on earth were the other two?

Chen Fan got up and looked into the distance.

Just then, on the stretcher, Ye Aotian slowly opened his eyes and looked at Chen Fan.

Chen Fan looked right back at him.

Without a word, he stood there, hands on his hips, with a proud expression.

As if to say, Don’t doubt it. Yes, I was the one who got you beaten up. Believe your instincts; I did it. Even if it wasn’t me, I’ll take the blame. Not even Jesus could change that.

Ye Aotian was taken away, while Cao Zijin watched happily.

“Honey, who do you think beat him up?”

“I don’t know. But whoever it was, I’m in a good mood. Are you guys still filming?”
