Way of Overlord-Chapter 436: Rise of Khans
Chapter 436: Rise of Khans
They don’t know how to do all those things. But because of their circumstances because of their hardship, they were able to step to greatness
A weaver, a farmer, a simple hunter, herders, beggars all rose up from their circumstances because of the times and create immortal achievements
Belarion now have a bit of confidence.
But there is still doubt
"But....but I don’t know to do it. That still doesn’t solve that issue. You tell me to learn. But from whom should I learn from?"
Aeryon could see that Belarion is already convinced.
He smiles and patted Belarion back
"Take it slowly. I have set up Xiwanu and Lughan as your deputy to help you with governing this area. Learn from them. Take what is good and discard which is bad. Learn from them and look at what they do. Take what works and reflect on what didn’t work. How much you could learn depends on yourself"
Belarion heard what his brother said and for a moment he did not know how to respond. Aeryon waited for Belarion answer
"You need to want it. I could not force you" Aeryon added
And Belarion close his eyes. He is deliberating. And Aeryon is still waiting. Any other people, Aeryon would not be this patient.
Any other subordinate, he would not give this much chance and time.
But Belarion is not just some subordinate. He is more than that.
In his heart, Aeryon treated Belarion like a brother and that did not change whether he is a gentle giant or a talented general.
Others things are about profit and loss. But for Belarion, it is personal affection that is not related at all to profit and loss.
This what makes human, human. Aeryon doesn’t trust people who only views life in profit and loss manner.
Having feelings like this could lead to a loss. But not having feelings does not make you a lord that would make people wanted to fight for you.
And then Belarion opens his eyes a second later.
He nodded
"I would try" hearing this Aeryon knows that he had succeeded. Aeryon never thought that the plan he made nearly hit a snag because of this.
Of course, he could always force Belarion to rule this area and Belarion would listen to him
But a willing student and an unwilling student retains knowledge differently.
"Hahaha!" Aeryon laugh happily.
"if not for the fact this is morning, I would ask you to bring jugs of Ayrag and slaughter a Tayak to show how happy I am" Aeryon laugh loudly and Belarion seeing his brother this happy also laugh.
These two spoke a little bit more and Aeryon and Belarion spoke in a way they have not spoken since children.
In the past, their minds are different and the conversation they could talk with each other is limited
But today, even though their breadth of mind and their knowledge and mindset is different, more conversation could be spoken
Aeryon is learning this new Belarion with interest and Belarion is learning new things about this world that he never knows before
And they both laughed and cry like never before. A bond of true friendship is forged again that day
Two hearts tied together, two heroes of the Steppe, two brothers that would shake the world!
Today, they drink, and they eat, they feast, they talked, they laugh and they cry.
This meeting of two heroes, two brothers, will it be recorded in the annals of history or would it be just some secret history of the Steppe one day
All is dust and ashes in the annals of history but the accomplishment of the heroes would remain the in the storytellers stories, in the songs and melodies
A man flesh will wither, his bones turns to dust and ashes, but his triumphs can echo across the ages, defying time itself.
One day.
One day.
.....
It took another three days for the transfer of power and for everything to be settled before Aeryon finally sets back to Brolgadhr tribe
Belarion take control of the Wustkazan area and began pacifying the north area
The Southern Great Steppe is now in a state of silence. The storm had passed and everything is calm.
Summer is approaching. This calm is just another intermission before another big storm hits.
There is many changes this year.
There is winners and losers. Some tribes become weaker and some tribes become stronger. Some rises anew and some is destroyed
Now after the storm had subsided, new power structure is forming.
In the East, Esbizuk tribe has become bigger and stronger.
The rise of the Esbizuk tribe is a shocking thing for many people
They first expanded their regions by attacking Lushar and Kyara tribe after hearing of Aeryon exploits.
Aeryon attack and expansion changes the status quo and make some people to harbour new ambition and changes the battle is fought
And so, in the East, Tsendeama Son of Uda rises!
With Dama fierceness and his fierce men from the mountains, they decimated these two tribes.
The survivor of these tribes fled to the north, heading to Timur or Shuni tribe on the northern direction from the Esbizuk tribe, some of them joining new tribes, some migrate to another region and some stay to try to recapture back the area.
Consolidation and eradication of the rebellious forces was enacted shortly after that until the Kyara and Lushar tribe area is truly pacified.
Then the Esbizuk tribe shock the east when they allied with Kazan tribe to attack Estkazan tribe
The Esbizuk tribe then gain Estkazan and Sordkazan area making Esbizuk tribe now the largest tribe in the east.
Now their borders and their neighbours have changed.
Now they border Altai and Timur tribe to their north.
To their northwest they now border Sordkazan that have taken the Kazan land after fleeing from their original settlements
On the west, they border the Utgard and Korun tribe.
The tribe has expanded and old governance of the tribe could not be done like before.
After taking around five regions and five large tribes, Katakura has helped Dama to create five military regions
It is clear that Dama prioritize military control and strategy positioning to ensure the safety of his tribe.
One reason is to solidify his power that is unstable because of the constant expansion and his cruel methods.
The other is to ward off rebellion.
Each of his conquered tribe land becomes a Khanate.
The reason why it is called Khanate is because Dama himself took the title of the Khan of the East.
Khan is quite similar to the title of kings in Yan dynasty. The one that coined the title of Khan is Katakura.
Katakura scoured old books and said there is another refined words for the title of Kan. Which is Khan.
Kan is more closer to the word Prince in the OId Empire language.
So, Dama as a way to gather the hearts of the people under him to fight for the world took the title of Khan of the East of the Southern Great Steppe.
Aeryon has always been known as the Kan. This is also an old title from the Old Empire of the Steppe
It could be considered king. But it could also be considered the Princes. Qayan is the title above Kan.
The Ruler of Kan is called Qayan. There were four Qayans in the beginning and then it changes into five. It is a governor of a direction
Aeryon did not take the title Qayan because he believe himself only worthy to called himself that when he rules the entire Southern Great Steppe.
His title of Kan tempts people and warriors to join him. Because with this title, Aeryon could give the warriors under him titles, prestige, honour
And with victory after victory, superficial honour is not the only thing eh could give. He could give also wealth and true hard power in the form of military command
His reputation as a powerful warrior, a just ruler and a victories army could tempt people to betray Dama
And could tempt talent that is in the east to join the one on the west
Dama taking the title of Khan is a measure to gather the hearts of the people. It is also to subvert the title
Khan is not a usual title.
And then Dama also began giving the justification that Aeryon is but a princeling is simply a morale boost to his people and warriors, to give them title and higher positions
Taking this new title is also to show the world of his success in unifying the east region, taking down five entrenched tribes and establishing a large tribe in the east
For warriors, it is more attractive to serve under a ruler who they could grow with.
A small tribe could only handle small warrior.
A large tribe could handle powerful great warriors.
But a Khanate, a kingdom could set them up for generations.
Never before has the Steppe seen so much movement to unity as it does now.
The warriors sees the benefit, but the rulers and the ministers and the advisors see the broader strategy that Dama is doing
This is a strategy to consolidate power, establish legitimacy and prepare the ground for the eventual clash between the east and the west.
