Chapter 438: Khanates

Because Karnain, like any other chiefs could see the purpose of Dama renaming these two regions

It is none other than to erase the identity of the Kazan and loosen the loyalty of the vassal tribe of the Kazan there

At the same time, it is to show that it is now the Esbizuk tribe that rules this land and it is their legacy that these small tribes should protect

Sordkazan region is now renamed to Zuldar. The name itself is chosen carefully. The name Zuldar meaning Iron in the Esbizuk tongue and "Dar" meaning land.

Together it translate to Land of Iron. It is a compliment. Dama sees the land of the Kazan as lands that procures warriors as storing and unyielding as iron itself.

It is this acknowledgement that causes Dama to win the two regiosn with scheme and strategy instead of fighting them head on.

Sordkazan after the victory in Nurshira was in rising trajectory.

The fact that Dama attack Estkazan with the Kazan tribe should not have attract the Sordkazan

And even if they did, Sordkazan would probably attack Estkazan and take some of their land.

Esbizuk tribe might have hoped that the attack on Estkazan become a three-way battle so that Kazan tribe would not get all the benefit.,

The more chaotic the matter, the more it is beneficial to the Esbizuk tribe.

Or they believe that the Sordkazan would mind their own business.

Of course, Aeryon and Mayeux did not think so.

The other chief tribe might have done the predictable thing and side with the strong and devour the weak

But Aeryon once met Karnain. This is a man that is wise and cautious. He knows when to attack and when to retreat.

He is most proficient in protecting himself and his tribe.

So, instead of siding with Esbizuk and the Kazan tribe attack on Estkazan, they enter the battle independently but it is clear that the Sordkazan tribe was helping the Estkazan tribe

And that is something that threaten to turns the battle that should be a quick one into a stalemate of four tribes in the East

And that is probably not what the Esbizuk tribe wanted. It would be time consuming, resource consuming battle which only would serve to halt Esbizuk tribe progress

After all, if Esbizuk tribe ambition is simply to rule one side, then they are already big enough and they could take the stalemate.

Then they simply have to surrender to any forces that could conquer the world

But Dama is not someone that is content in being other people subordinate.

For someone like Dama who has the desire to prove himself, who has the desire to conquer the world, being a ruler of one side is not appealing enough for him

Hence, he needed this battle to be won and to be won quickly

The longer it takes, the more uncertainty that could be generated in the east.

Sordkazan has the advantage of time and terrain. They also have the support of the people.

The advantage that Sordkazan tribe is numerous.

Esbizuk tribe did not have such advantage.

The only way for Esbizuk tribe to win this quickly is to use scheme and strategy

Hence, the Banquet happen and the prize is the two Kazan region.

The price for such reward is Dama reputation dragged through the mud

From now on, no one could even trust Dama again. Even if they broker an alliance, they would always be cautious.

A man whose tongue wags one way while his heart lies another is worth less than the dust beneath his horse’s hooves.

A dishonest man may gain a moment’s wealth, but he trades it for a lifetime of suspicion. On the Steppe, the most valuable currency is trust—it cannot be stolen, only earned.

But maybe it is worth it for Dama. After all, he is the only person that have now defeated two of the Kazan offshoots.

If he was a Kazan he would be considered a unifier of the Kazan. But he is from Esbizuk tribe. A Marynku but not a Kazan

He changes the name of Sordkazan into Zuldar and rename it Zuldar region. As for Estkazan region, he changes it to Askhadar khanate.

Askha refers to flame or ember in the Esbizuk dialect while "dar" meaning land.

A literal translation would be the land of flame.

But it could also be translated as the land where the ember is.

The open ended of this notion is whether the spark is dying or about to burst

It signifies both destruction and rebirth.

That from the destruction of the tribe, a hope for a rebirth of a new tribe under the banner of Esbizuk.

Some Ashana that heard about this believe that Dama rename this region as such to symbolize the Estkazan defeat, the burning of their past and the rebirth and rejuvenation that the rising power of Esbizuk would bestow upon that land

There is powers in names for there is power in words. This is the belief of many Ashana. It is said some Gods uses Words to fight and their Words causes reality to morph and rewrite the Laws of the World.

Naming something, or changing the name of something have power. For words is a thought given power. Words contain meanings that come from thoughts.

And thoughts have power

Dama declare the changing of the name of this two Khanate in the trading post between the two lands in front of his tens of thousands of horsemen and warriors freёnovelkiss.com

Those who were there and see that gathering would surely be overwhelmed.

In the past hundred years, a gathering where ten thousand men under one banner is a rare things and only could be seen in the case of an invasion by a foreign empire

But now, in the Southern Steppe alone, there is a few chief that could gather not only ten thousand men, but more than that

The war become brutal and the casualties is even higher.

In the past, when one tribe fight against one another ten death is considered high casualties and when one tribe casualties reaches fifty or one hundred death in a single battle between tribes, it is already considered a catastrophe for the tribe.

That is because small tribes are numerous.

They are divided and could not centralize the power of the numerous tribe and centralize resources amidst internal fighting and politicking against each other

But now on the east, on the central region, on the west small tribes has become large tribe and any other small tribe that did not read the wind of change that has sweep the Steppe and act accordingly now has been swallowed by these large tribes.

A thousand men dying in a battle is now common.

Ten thousand horsemen riding the plains of the Steppe is now becoming common in the eyes of the people of the Southern Great Steppe.

And in Esbizuk tribe, this is the first time that Dama shows to his people how much he and the tribe has grown.

The sight is meant to instil pride but also to deter anyone with rebellious thought

There he announced

"I name these lands Zuldar and Askhadar, for they are now forged in iron and flame, bound to the will of the Esbizuk."

Dama and Aeryon may differ in many things. But in terms of authority and power in the tribe, both of them are the same

They both have unlimited power and authority to make any laws and declare and claim anything they want

Zuldar region also become a khanate. Zuldar region is bordering around the Utgard and the Korun tribe.

It acts as a western resisting fortress against threat from the west.

As for the Yan that borders them, right now, Yan dynasty could not even mount a successful attack against the marauding raiders of the Steppe that went down south, so how could they even think of attacking the Steppe right now

The wall around the area of the Steppe is now mostly control by some tribes of the Steppe that move south after the fall of Nurshira.

In the Zuldar region, one of Dama general was stationed. This general is called En An Dzul. He is renamed by Dama to Enazul

He is a mountain men.

And he is one of Dama most brutal general.

He oversees the region while at the same time maintaining control. Dama did not yet want to recruit Zuldar men.

Because probably they are quite angry with Dama. A rebellion just occurred recently in the land of the Kazan and those who participated in that rebellion was brutally executed.

If Dama make Zuldar as a recruitment ground for warriors, he had to worry whether these warriors would turn against him

For now, the general is there to deter people from rebelling.

Then there is Askhadar khanate. It borders Altai and the area of Kazan now hold by Sordkazan chief

There is many warriors stationed here and scout to see if there is any movement from the area.

It would also probably serve as a launch point for raids toward the north and the west if they wanted to bypass the Utgard and Korun wall that the Brolgadhr has created for itself.

Alta one of the major settlement of the area now becomes a military garrisons.
