Chapter 451: Celebration

As the tribe becomes bigger it would harder for the common people of the Steppe to see him.

When there is a chance to show himself, the impression he must give his subject must be an impression of a strong leader that could protect them and win victories and benefit for them

Before he came here, he wears his armor.

The armor even bore the marks of battles. There is scratches, dents and even faint stains of blood.

Aeryon thought since he already wanted to make a theatrics out of it, then he should go all the way.

At his side, hung a curved saber, its hilt wrapped in worn leather.

The horse sauntered slowly. Like its master, it seems to have the same pride etched into its bones.

He rode through the gates and the crowd is parted away by the welcoming guards.

Parted like the waters of a great river.

And then Aeryon could hear their cheers growing louder, their voices sound like a thunderous roars that seems to shake the very earth that they are standing on

Aeryon did not understand this much adoration or cheers.

He even started misunderstanding whether Mayeux force all of these people to come and cheer for him

Aeryon himself underestimated his popularity in the tribe among those who he conquered and those who follows him from the beginning

To many of the people that is now living in the city and lived under the protection umbrella of the Brolgadhr tribe, Aeryon, the chief that develop this tribe to become a powerful tribe is like a titan among men

A great hero that accomplish something great.

Even if he were to rest in his laurel from now on, there is his name that would be remember and his story would be told to future generation of the Brolgadhr tribe.

Never before has the Brolgadhr tribe been honoured and respected and feared and look upon in awe before Aeryon rise.

Those who surrendered to him did not hold grudges.

Aeryon treated those who surrendered to him very well. And even if he does kill, he rarely kills the common people and mostly only the one on the top

It is only when a tribe does not surrender that his method become cruel

But to those who did not provoke his cruel side, they are able to live and also bask in the prosperity of the tribe.

More grazing area and no more fears of being harassed by other tribes.

They could held their chess high and they could look at the world and be proud.

There is no shame to surrender to a Kan.

Even more so, when the Kan has made it clear that it wanted to unify the Southern Great Steppe.

This is a hero with great ambition, and no warrior feel it a humiliation to surrender to such a hero.

A warrior of the Steppe would find it humiliating and degrading to surrender to Yan people.

Because mostly those who did surrender, did it because of their circumstances. The only time when the warrior would approve of surrendering to the Yan people is when the warrior wanted to take advantage of the Yan people

After all, the Yan people already decided that they are fickle and greedy people. Since that is the case, they just have to act the way they thought the Steppe people would act.

The Steppe people have no goodwill to Yan people. How could they? This is the race that kills their people without any reason. If there is no reason, they would make one.

But Aeryon is different. He is of their kind. A Marynku men, a chief of the Steppe with great ambition. A person like this is a person worth surrendering to

Aeryon sees that the mood has risen to the highest peak and e smiles. He looks behind him and see his men is still waiting for his orders.

"bring them" Aeryon shouted and Aeryon slowly ride his horse to the main road and behind him, there is the result of his victory.

There is the captured banners, enemy armours, spoils of wars among other things. It is no so many but this is understandable.

When Aeryon first defeated Sordkazan, he transported some of the resources and his war spoil back to the city.

The procession right now with all of this boxes and caravan is symbolic. He did not need to open all the boxes and shows all the content in the caravan

It is unneeded because everyone already knows how much he had profited.

But the visual effect of seeing so much caravans and so much boxes would stimulate their senses and made them more passionate.

The people of the Steppe, and the people of Yan, there is the virtuous and then there is those who fight for interest.

Some people treated virtue as the heaven of their life and some treated gold and silver as their heaven

A great ruler could accept both and uses them accurately.

Aeryon wanted to show it to those who have evil intention in their hearts to restrain that rebellious heart and to those who trusted him to remain confident of his rule.

Look at all of these caravans!

Look at all of these boxes! Isn’t this a life full of riches?

Then they would surely ask themselves.

Who brought them these riches? And the answer would be him

They would be more loyal and more enthusiastic in supporting him. Aeryon had never neglected the support base that he had.

He has always win, and there are times when he look don on certain thing because of his smooth journey.

But even so, he still did not neglect his warriors and his people. Because he already knows how powerful their support would be

If one day, he is to be defeated in a battle, as long as there is people that would follow him, there is always a chance for a comeback.

If not.....then he lost everything.

He who gains land does not necessarily gain the empire, but he who gains the people truly gains the empire.

He who loses land does not necessarily perish, but he who loses the people will certainly perish.

While it is not exactly that true in certain cases, Aeryon knows that it is also true in some other cases.

When he was a small tribe running to Nurshira with his tribe, if he could not gain the support of his tribe to return back to the Steppe and attack the Xewa and Ghar tribe, how could today glory be achieved?

One day, if all of his territory is lost, as long as he has the people, he could keep planning and he could keep counterattacking.

It is when he no longer have people, that he lost everything

The people here does not always means the common people. The people here is the people who could control the world.

In the Steppe that is the warriors. In Yan, it is the aristocratic and scholar families. In the far north, in the Roma it is the Senators and the people of the city.

Different empires, different places has different "people"

The common people if they had the power could also be considered "people" that all rulers would cater too and woo.

Aeryon knows this.

And that is why his treatment to his warriors is unmatched by any other chief. But he also knows to be measured.

Merits and demerits are not forgotten, but when rewarding, none should be missing.

He caravans is paraded and all the people could see it.

But this procession, this celebration is just beginning.

Then there was the rituals and the blessing.

The Ashana performs all kinds of rituals from sacrificing to the Skyfather to praying to the Earth Mother, and there is chanting songs, blessing them so that the Skyfather would protect them.

Aeryon offer fermented mare milk and slaughter ten Tayaks to the heavens. The Tayak meats then is distributed to those common people on the side of the road.

Most of the time, one would burn the offering but Aeryon changes this method believing that the Skyfather would not mind.

Ashana themselves are very flexible on this matter.

As long as it did not harm the people and did not harm the tribe, they could agree with most changes.

And then the feast begins. There is laughter, music and the thrum of drums. All of this sound pulsed through the air

The Elders had outdone all previous celebrations

The great square was cleaned and emptied

Lying at the center of the encampment blazed with bonfires so tall their flames seems to reach the clouds and the stars

There is red glow over the revelry like the colours of sunsets

The long tables groaned under the weight of the feast

There is whole lambs roasted to crackling perfection, their skins glazed with honey and crushed juniper; skewers of horsemeat, tender and smoky from open pits; racks of Tayak ribs dripping with rendered fat and dusted with fiery steppe spices.

The long table is Aeryon creation.

This is not really a new creation. In the far north, in the Northern Great Steppe, most of the chief there has a long table in their permanent settlements.

Most of the chief in the Northern Great Steppe is Eresian with Marynku blood. And their culture mixed with Eresian culture.

From what Aeryon had learned, the Eresian culture is like the Viking culture. And it intermixed with the Marynku culture.

Hence, why sometimes, even Belarion would wear an elflock on his head
