Way of Overlord-Chapter 453: Palace I
Chapter 453: Palace I
When he spoke to the Elders, he spoke to them in two different ways.
One he spoke to them like he is their chief and another like their junior. But the Elders of course knows where they stand and what is their place.
As for his warriors, Aeryon simply needs to reiterate his ambition and draw them some piece of pie that they could take chunk of later.
Right now, the Brolgadhr tribe is the largest tribe and the strongest tribe in the Southern Great Steppe.
Everyone could see that there is hope in conquering the Southern Great Steppe.
No, it is more than just hope.
It is the general trend.
And the one that is the most enthusiastic in this endeavour is none other than the warriors.
There is immortal merit to be won and rewards to be chased.
There is nothing more than a warrior in the Steppe would want. Fame and fortune, hand in hand.
Wise men wanted to find someone to rely on in this turbulent period of the world. And the people wanted to seek a benevolent and kind leader
All have their hopes and dreams.
Aeryon attended the feast and mingle, he drinks with his men and everything appears to be in harmony.
And then the feast ended.
Aeryon wanted to return home. freёwebnoѵel.com
From morning to the evening, evening to night, the celebration seems to never end, hours and hours were spent and he is almost drunk
He had the capacity to drinks that is higher than any normal human.
This is because of his strength and stamina but after drinking so many Ayrag and other kinds of intoxicant, even he felt his head is dizzy.
But there is a reason why he is rushing to go back to the city.
And he wanted to quickly return.
The Ashana and The Elders insisted that they wanted to meet him and Aeryon had no choice but to meet them and then listen to their concern and only until then thy finally relented and let him go
The city is still being built but some of the place inside the city has already have makeshift markets and houses.
Aeryon did not return to his tent but instead to his new palace. It is not yet large enough or intricate enough to qualify this new residence as a palace
But it would be when it is finished.
Aeryon had already made architects and builders to create the blueprint.
Now, there is one residence that he is now living in right now.
The place itself is not finished in its entirety.
But this area has been reserved for the creation of his palace.
Aeryon did not let his people built his palace at the same time they built the city and the city walls.
Phase by phase.
Reinforcing one after the other.
There is still many empty space in this area.
One of the things that would slow down the military machine that he had created would be if he pays too much attention to building things
That is reserved after he could maintain the safety of his people.
For now, even though Nurshira seems to be in chaos and it is abandoned by the central government Areyon knows that if someone could rally the people and the people is led by a tiger, they could still retake Nurshira.
If the Central Government is controlled by Xiahou Cao and he sent the imperial army to the north, those ragtag groups of warriors and those self-made warlord would not stand a chance.
Aeryon did not know much about the resistance of the tribes in Beixuan but most of them would probably be without armor and weapons.
The weapons that they do have could not withstand an attack from real soldiers. It is not because the soldiers is too strong that the people could not fight.
It is that soldiers are unified, they have better weapons and arms, they have horses and siege weapons and they have a base where they could retreat, regroup or replenish.
Ragtag bunch of rebels and opportunity seekers could raid villages without patrols or cities without security, but once the imperial army arrives, then the most important thing are more than just bravery.
Aeryon believe that if he fight with the imperial army of Yna right now, he would lose. He would not lose terribly but he would lose.
The imperial army in Nurshira was neglected.
It is not a true representation of the imperial army of Yan.
Even a dead camel is bigger than a horse.
Unlike Genghis Khan, Aeryon does not have the luxury of losing. And the Yan dynasty is not the Song dynasty.
The empire that surrounds him is unlike the threats that surrounds Genghis Khan.
The geography is also different.
Once he loses, the invincibility image he had cultivated for him and his army would collapse.
Even more so if it’s against Yan dynasty.
Only when he is sure would he led his men down south and compete with the warlords.
And in Aeryon opinion, there is no need for him to meddle in the chaos that is about to erupt in Yan right now
Aeryon shook all of these thoughts out of his heads as he walk to his residence.
The Palace of Brolgadhr
..
This Palace of Brolgadhr does not yet have a name. Because the Palace itself is not yet complete
It is an ambitious project by the Kan. And it gives a lot of jobs and it is a precursor to Aeryon and Mayeux plan in creating a currency of their own.
A pilot project that is only in the city. For now, Aeryon gives these people meat, or grain, or other resources for their work.
There is also gold and silver and even many coins from Yan even more so after his successful raiding of the South
Aeryon did not care so much about this but the merchant do want it because they are the medium of exchange in this ancient world
To some herders in the Steppe, the coin of the Yan dynasty value little in the Steppe.
But when they buy from the merchants that come from distant lands, these merchants care very much for these coin because they do trade down to the Yan dynasty.
Just because the Steppe and the Yan dynasty has bad relations does not mean the merchants of Yan and merchants of the Steppe also have to fight each other.
This is not the world of the future where everyone is brainwashed by their nations to lay down their lives for the oligarchies and their presidents and kings to fight for them
The one that dies is the one that believes the lies of protecting the nation.
When in fact it protect the pockets of the rich and the assets of the rich.
The rich could run and set up themselves in different countries and the only one really affected is the common people.
A barber from a different country had to kill a farmer from a different country because their kings, their rulers justify the killing with some high-sounding cause.
In those time, even merchants have to pretend to be patriotic instead of being honest to the core of their nature.
A merchant loves profit and profit is the only things that matters.
It made them hated, and most of them are risk takers. No one likes them because their only allegiance to the money.
But to those who had a lot of money, merchants is the staunchest ally.
These merchants could move freely all over the world.
Because everyone needs something.
Whether it be the people of the Steppe or the people of Yan.
Because there are things in the Steppe that the Yan did not have and there are things in Yan that the Steppe does not have.
To the merchants that traded all over the world, the coins that is worthless in the eyes of the herders of the Steppe is very much available and Aeryon gives these coin as payment to the workers that work for him
Aeryon is actually thinking of creating paper currency.
This is another one of his undertaking.
But he is not eager to do it yet. He needs to make sure his experiment worked before he walk to the next step.
Aeryon walk through his newly built palace ground. This would be his magnum opus in the first half of his life.
When this palace and this city is truly completed, it would radiate influence all over the Southern Great Steppe.
And it would also radiate its influence to the south. For half of his life, Aeryon envisioned that he would be fighting all over the Steppe.
And when he unites the Steppe, that is when he would move south. If he could not do it in his lifetime, then it would be his son. If not his son, it would be his grandson.
Aeryon knew how hard it is to create this city and this palace. If not for his own power and influence, his ability to order and organize large group of people, this city would remain just a blueprint in his mind.
After all, the Marynku people is nomadic and permanent structures are rare.
