Way of Overlord-Chapter 483: Stars of Destiny
Chapter 483: Stars of Destiny
It is simple. Yan people treated them like animals, so, to the eyes of the Great Steppe, how could the people of Yan get their loyalty?
The lord of the Steppe that knows to treat the warriors and the people of the Steppe, the people of the forest, the people of the river and mountain, the people who Yan called "barbarian" with sincerity could win their hearts, so they would repaid it with their life.
People everywhere is the same.
There is some differences here and there, but most people share the same desires, likes and hates.
Everyone would be sincere to people that are sincere to them and everyone would be insincere to people who are not sincere to them
The most sure-fire way of winning people hearts is being sincere to them. Poor people, rich people, even powerful people could be moved by sincerity
If even powerful people are moved by sincerity, it would work even more potent for poor people.
Aeryon raise his poor tribe, his weak tribe into a strong tribe in almost just a year.
The expansion is fast and the prosperity of the tribe could be felt by everyone. So, he could convince everyone.
Garron on the other hand had to take it slowly. And Ogura uses this fact to incite people. And because of that, Katakura had already made the assessment.
Ogura, even if he wanted to ally with Esbizuk, he could not. Because then what would made him different from Garron?
"it is a pity. Utgard would decline. I just hope it would not decline that much and buy some time for us"
That is why the death of Garron does not make him happy at all
New leaders have different policies and have different ally.
But the thing he fears the most is that Aeryon would take and attack Utgard.
If Aeryon really wanted to attack Utgard, the question would not be whether Utgard could repel Aeryon forces the question would be how long will it take for Aeryon to take Utgard?
It is a matter of when
But if Aeryon take Utgard, then the west and the east would have no choice but to fight.
Just thinking about it would make him feel a headache
Ironically, both he and Mayeux, these two share the same fear.
They did not want to start the war between the west and the east early. Both of them feel that they are no ready.
And if they are both not ready and they fight, the result might not be the result that they want
Maybe, they would fight and the one who has the last laugh would be someone else.
That would be unbearable for them. It would be unbearable for Mayeux and it would be unbearable for Katakura
If two of them fight and the other wins and the other perish, they could just think of it as a pity but they would not regret it
Katakura and Mayeux both appreciate heroes. But they only appreciate dead heroes. But if the enemy they fight is worthy, then losing or winning would not be regretful.
"Utgard....should I forget it?" he mutters to himself. Too many things need to be mobilized if he is insistent in creating a pact with the Utgard.
Too many benefits that had to be ceded for it to be a profitable thing for the Esbizuk tribe
"Focus on the upper side and pacify the Khanate first" he thought to himself.
Katakura could only sigh.
Looking at the messy arrangement of parchment in his room he shakes his head
"Cooped up in my tent and thinking of problem that has no solution could drive a man crazy" he mutters to himself as he got up and went outside his tent.
The guards saw him but he just gesture them to leave him alone. Then he look up
He look at the sky above. freewebnσvel.cøm
Tonight, is a beautiful night.
The wind coldness is just right, the stars shining brightly and the moon shines its radiant light brightly.
He went to the post where he tied his horse, untied his horse and ride it out of the settlement.
The night is the most dangerous. No child is allowed out at night. Most of them would gather near the fire and they would sleep under the fur blanket inside their tent
The cold winds has abated now that spring has come but the cold in the Steppe and the cold in other places is different
The cold is still the cold and even though spring came it would not be a time where the cold did not bite
At night, there is beast and other creatures roams the plains. There is wolves, there is foxes and there is many more things, crawling and running
And even certain dark things only appears at night
Night....is not a time where people could walk peacefully.
But this is different for warriors.
Aeryon is like this, Mayeux is like this and Katakura is also like this.
In the night, they are brave and they trained themselves at night
The people of the Steppe could see at night.
They eat meat and they have strong body.
Their diet and their environment made them strong and the intermixing of the three great races of the Steppe made them tall and have all kinds of hair colour and all kinds of traits.
Some are bad but most of them are beneficial.
And for a warrior like Katakura, the night is not something to be feared
His eyes could see clearly at night. It is one of the traits that made the Steppe warriors so fearsome in the eyes of Yan people
When the warrior of the Steppe fights against the Yan, there is one thing that they never miss out on doing and that is night attack
In this era, the ability to do a night attack test the limit of the general leading the army and the army itself.
That is because night attack is hard to coordinate and there is always a chance for one to be confused when doing a night attack
It is also for this reason, any successful night attack in a great campaign would always have its place in the annals of history.
But what is hard for others to do is not hard for the Steppe warriors to do.
Night attack of the Steppe warriors is like the dance of wild demons, wild, unrestrained and unleash all of the power of the band of warriors.
It is for this reason that the foundation of the Steppe could still be preserved until today.
Night.....is a time for them to be free.
At least that is how it is for Katakura.
In the past, such nights would be filled with uncertainty.
The mountain tribe also have this kind of trait and they would raid the tribes of the east to capture woman and to capture resources.
But since Dama subdue the mountain tribes such thing could no longer be seen
He felt the wind and hear the rustle of the grass
Sometimes, he could see wolves in the distance. Some of them saw him and wanted to chase over him. He would only need to shoot a few arrows to deter these wolves.
In the past, when he was a child, wolves scares him to death. But years had passed and now, he no longer fear the wolves
Katakura has grown over the years and he seems more mature and steadier. He now have a lean yet powerful body frame.
It is almost like his body is built for endurance.
It is not so much that he is built for endurance.
It is more that his constant training and battle with the mountain tribes has built for him the endurance.
His face now lost all the fat and the puffiness in his face has also disappeared replaced with a face that is sharp and angular, with high cheekbones and strong jawline.
There is a bit of the ancestry of the Eresian in him. This ancestry become more and more obvious as he grows older.
And because of the experience he had accumulated in battle, his eyes which in the past is gentle now is piercing.
He has this kind of aura that could pressure people just by looking at them
His skin has tanned even more.
His hair darker than the typical Steppe people but have the same thick and windblown quality.
Sometimes, his hair would be tied in an elflock and sometimes it would be left to flow wildly beneath a fur lined Steppe war helm.
He has a thin moustache and a short-pointed beard that frame his mouth. It added to his fierce appearance.
He rides his horse and then enjoy the night wind and the night.
The moonlight makes the night tonight brighter
And then Katakura stopped at a tree.
He tied his horse to the tree as he walk to a stream nearby and then look at the sky.
He looks at the stars and he frowned.
He could see some stars shining brighter than others, some are bright but is dimming, and some are becoming dimmer by the second. What he sees is not the stars in the night sky but the star of destiny.
