Chapter 486: West or East?

Even if he had the thought of wanting to solve this diplomatically, he would only do it after dismantling the Cha Ner Ul Alliance, making them small enough that they could not threaten his position as the leading voice in Brolgadhr tribe.

Aeryon is a controlling person. And his trend of centralization of power is obvious to all chiefs.

It is unlike the confederacy of the past where the chief have equal voice. This is a person that wanted to control the world alone.

Like the Emperor of Yan. Like the Emperor of the ancient Great Steppe empire! Not the head of some alliance leader but a lonely one that stand supreme above all others!

The Cha Ner Ul tribe is now big. Bigger in size then the Brolgadhr tribe if they added all three tribes as one.

They have many lands and they have many warriors, but there is also cons to this. Ultar and Nergui had been conquering the tribes around them and subduing the clans there

It is the same for Chagai tribe that have been swallowing the small tribe. Chadha uses a more diplomatic method and most of the tribes that joins him, join his tribe voluntarily creating like some kind of confederacy in itself , listening to his words as the ruler of this confederacy

But Nergui and Ultar conquered the tribe around them with fire and blood. They need time to truly pacified it, to digest the resources they had to establish tributaries and to convince the tribes around that area to pay homage to them

That is one problem they have

And the other problem is that they are surrounded on all sides.

On the east they are surrounded by the Brolgadhr, on the west they are surrounded by Khagai and other tribe and it is the same for the north with the Aoshizan tribe.

But other than Brolgadhr and Khagai, the other tribe that surrounds the Cha Ner Ul Alliance is not something that is worth of their concern.

Chadha knows that the only threat worth for them to worry about is the Brolgadhr. The Cha Ner Ul Alliance is surrounded but the Chagai tribe itself is quite safe

His southern, west and eastern border might eb surrounded but his northern border is safe because he is neighbour with the Nergui tribe on the north

This also allows him to gain reinforcement if there comes a time that the Brolgadhr tribe attacks their alliance.

One of their advantages is that if a conflict does arose between the Cha Ner Ul Alliance and the Brolgadhr tribe, the battle line would be long

Very long. All of the western site reaching to the upper part of western area.

All along the western border of three tribes would have to be guarded and that is an impossibility for the Brolgadhr tribe.

Even more so because this is a plain.

There is hills and there is some tall mounds, but there is no large and tall mountain and there is no thick forest around the area between the Brolgadhr and the Cha Ner Ul region.

Chadha sighed.

"It is not easy for Brolgadhr to attack but on the other hand the alliance could not attack. We could only defend" this is the reality of the situation right now.

But the reality of the situation now could change. If the Alliance become weaker, then Aeryon could break it. Vice versa, if Aeryon tribe suffer division, then the initiative would fall into the alliance.

Chadha knew that if Aeryon died, all of the threat of Brolgadhr tribe would dissipate.

Chadha knows that a behemoth like Brolgadhr would not fall and crumble the moment Aeryon died. After all, there is still Belarion and Mayeux and Rukari.

But, these people are not Aeryon. Belarion is more of a talented great general. He could fight and he could lead armies.

But could he survive politics?

What about Mayeux?

He coordinates the rear, pacify the tribe, but he did not have that same kind of charisma that Aeryon had and he could not unite people hearts the way Aeryon did. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

The other reason is because Aeryon subordinate are the one who is the backbone of the Brolgadhr army

They would listen religiously to any order Aeryon had. But people forget that these generals are all unruly.

They are obedient to only two person.

That is Belarion and Aeryon.

Without Aeryon, without Belarion, how could those people bow their heads to Mayeux?

They could not

And what about Rukari? He is capable and he is also one of the strongest voice in the Elder Council

But he is old. And he is not ambitious. If not how could Brolgadhr did not rise during the time of Rakarys?

Even if Rukari inherit the ambition of Aeryon, it did not change the fact he is old and he is not capable to do the things that Aeryon did.

If he is capable of doing the things that Aeryon did, then in his youth it would be Rakarys turn to become the chief of the Brolgadhr.

That is why as long as he could just kill Aeryon, that tribe would crumble

"At the latest two years, at the longest five years"

That is the estimation of how long that tribe could last if Aeryon dies now. The longer Aeryon lives, the more structured the Brolgadhr tribe would become

And the more structured the tribe, the harder it is to fall later.

without someone like Aeryon in the leadership position of the Brolgadhr, the Brolgadhr would not be such a threat

"It is not that I haven’t try" he sighed in his heart

"My assassins could not even come close to him"

At this, Chadha could not help but sigh.

Yes, Chadha send assassins after Aeryon.

And he doubt that he is the only one. He is not the only chief that pray to the Skyfather hoping for Aeryon to die young

It is said that in the journey toward Nurshira, he fell sick. Aeryon should die at that time, there is this wish in Chadha heart.

He had prayed and he had sent assassins

Assassination....this is not an honourable way. But as long as it could not be traced to him, then his honour is intact.

The chief of the Steppe is not an idiot.

In the past, the Yan people sent assassins against them

Then they defeated their tribe and write in their books that they defeated their tribe fair and square.

Of course, the tribe of the Steppe did not know that they were characterized as such in the books of the Yan dynasty.

If they know all yan people that rides their horses to go to the north from the south passing through the Steppe would probably be killed by people who are offended by this kind of characterization

But, they did learn something from this.

Assassination is useful when the death of one person could affect the entire situation

The chief of the Steppe also learns this kind of tactics.

Technology and innovation is also like this.

Once it is used against others, sooner or later, someone would adopt it if it is useful.

It is why in the west, in another world, when one state reached an improvement in gunpowder and began using rifles and guns, the other states also began to improve.

They keep killing and improving

Blood really does move the wheel of history.

It is so in that world and it is the same in this world.

"But that young wolf is not so easy to kill" he mutters to himself and he could not help but sigh about this matter

Most of the assassin he sent could not even reach Aeryon before they are dispatched. It is then that Chadha learns that Aeryon has some kind of spy organization. It is hidden and only show its edges when necessary.

Chadha even found some of them in his tribe and manage to kill them. But he never found the source

This also made him give up the idea of assassination. At least until he is sure that all of the spies of Brolgadhr has been found inside his territory, he would never send another assassin.

After all, even though he never get caught as mastermind of these assassinations, the more he do, the more he is exposed to making mistakes

That young wolf is proving to be a serious contender for the title of the Qayan.

He had been thinking of how to weaken Brolgadhr tribe and this morning after just being woken up, instead of being angry, he did not expect to hear news that sound like heavenly music for him

Good news.

"Garron the Viper" This is the extent to the knowledge that Chada had about Garron personally.

As for not so personal information, Chadha knows that Garron is Aeryon father-in-law.

But that is not what interest him.

It interest Chadha because right now Utgard tribe seems to be in chaos.

And there is a chance that this chaos could be the opportunity he is waiting for. The chaos on the east opens up the opportunity in the West?

He could not help but hope that this kind of thing would happen

He need more information about this.

if the news is true and Utgard tribe is in chaos, then maybe, this chaos could spread? And it would be better if it could spread to the east or to the central region.

Maybe Brolgadhr would be tempted to move east? And the east and central region could fight each other and he could be the final winner?

It is a good dream but more absurd things have happened in the history of the world

" Send more people to Utgard tribe and collect information there" he already knows what he needs to do today.

"The West or the East?" And muttering these words, Chadha smiles

"Whichever it is, this time the West would be ready!"
