Chapter 497: Being Human

They communicate using pigeons, eagles and those who are more adept even uses crawling creatures and even rats could be used to send messages

Not to mention, if the Emperor of Western Zhou is about to die, even though this place is far away from the west, that kind of news would travel here.

Because the chaos in the west would mean the western tribe of all the Great Steppe could rest easy from invasion of the Western Zhou.

And that is something to be celebrated. Even though Yan was the one that usually attack The Great Steppe, other than during the time of Jiang Che, most of the attack come from the western border.

It is the Western Zhou keep attacking the western border of the Great Steppe to expand their land and there were times when the tribe on the west lost and there are times where the tribes won and took some lands there

The whole area around the western borders are always in dispute

"Purple cloud covering...someone is hiding the fact that the Emperor is sick?"

"or is he already dead?" the python in the sky look translucent. Is the Emperor already dead and someone just pretend that he is still alive?

That could also be the case.

Ashana Angah frowned. And then shakes his head.

"If the Steppe is unification, Yan is an attempt at revival, Yindu is a rejuvenation, and Roma is breaking down then the Western Zhou is a story of destruction"

Ashana Angah knows the ambition of Aeryon.

If Aeryon won the Southern Great Steppe, his target would either be the Central Great Steppe or the West.

Or he might even attack these two places at the same time.

After all, there is a guardian lion on the west, guarding the western border of the Southern great Steppe for Aeryon.

If Aeryon could probe that he is the overlord of the Southern Great Steppe, the Khagai tribe would then sincerely follow all of his orders.

And Ashana Angah also knows Valgrun.

This person has always wanted to go to an expedition to the west, and take back the land of the Steppe.

The fertile land of the Western Zhou, the mountains, lakes and hills. That was the land of the Steppe people. The Xinbei people.

The Western people. The western tribe was pushed into this part of the great Steppe because the Xun people took the land of the Great Steppe.

The current border of the Great Steppe is redrawn hundreds of years ago

The wrong and right of that time could no longer be determined. But the people of the Steppe did not forget

They did not forget the story of suffering. Of where their ancestors had to live in a prison like environment and be insulted and spit by the Western Zhou people

And Khagai tribe and other western tribe always have the desire to take back that land.

In the past they did not have this power, but if the Steppe is united, then Western Zhou days are numbered.

"Whoever won the Southern Great Steppe, Western Zhou would suffer"

Aeryon has always been an expansionist. He seems to be anxious of something. Of course, this anxiousness could not be seen by the people

But Ashana Angah is an observant person. Each time he sees Aeryon, he could tell that this person seems to be anxious of something.

And that seems to be his driving force. Almost like he could see what would happen in this land in the future.

As for Dama, that person has deep disdain for the people of Yan. Disdain and hatred. It is no wonder.

The Yan people treated the people of different kind like animals. And in turn, Dama treats them like animal. In this current era, the politically correct move is to hate Yan.

It is a banner that could gather a lot of warriors in the Southern Great Steppe. Because they were the ones that suffer every time Yan people move north and they were the ones that is most affected.

The other region of the Steppe did not experience pain and suffering that much from Yan and because of that, there is many tribes there that have many dealings with Yan warlords and princes and help divide the many tribes in the Steppe

But in the Southern Great Steppe, killing Yan people is politically correct. Ashana, Wizancai, and other wise men of the Southern Great Steppe are not excluded from this hate.

After all, even wise men have father and mothers, sisters and brothers, relatives and tribesmen that have suffered under the people of Yan

Ashana Angah however has a more universal thought. Because everyone bleed the same red blood

But his thoughts are thoughts he did not spoke. Because the time is not right and the environment is not right

He is not a Prophet of the Divine where he would be divinely protected nor is he obligated to spread his thoughts and ideas.

He is a mortal who had drink more water, eat more food, walk further than the common man and understand some truth

But in the end he is still mortal and he has some limitation of what he could do and could not do

Cowardly, bravely, whether you like these traits or not, it is a trait of humanity. Humans make mistake.

They will always do.

Even more so for those that did not want to mistake.

Angah had seen so many tragic stories.

But the point of being mortal is this.

Making mistake.

Because no one is born knowing.

And even if one is born knowing, as long as he is mortal and not some divine being, he would also make mistake

But the true tragic mistake would be not to learn from it.

Angah had seen a butcher who had killed all of his life repent in the last moment of his life.

He was sincere.

And he would not bat an eye if the relatives of the deceased wanted to kill him.

He blames the world for all of his problem, never once looking inside his own heart

But in the end, he was enlightened and see the light and repent.

After that, each day from that moment on, every second of every moment of his life is dedicated in serving life.

Doing good, helping people.

Will he be punished when he died?

Different religion have different methodology.

Some said since he repent, he was absolved.

Some said that if the merit is sufficient, then it could erase the demerit.

Some said, that merit is merit, demerit is demerit, which just right is right and wrong is wrong.

He would be punished for all of his wrong and when he had serve his just punishment, then he would be purified and finally be rewarded for his deeds.

Angah did not know whether heaven that is spoken in the lands of the dessert is true or not but he does know something

Hell....does exist.

In one of his nightly journeys to the Invisible Realm, he met a Djinn.

He made a bet with the Djinn and with a help of a trickster hero named Umar Umaiyyah he won the bet.

And in it the Djinn with the help of a divine being bring him to see Hell. He only see one glimpse and his soul shakes and nearly collapsed.

He nearly died in what ancient Ashana refer to as Soul Death.

The body would be alive but the soul is already dead. With such body, dark beings might occupied it for a few months before the body rotted and finally unable to function which the dark being would then abandon and return to their realm

So, whether heaven exist or not is debatable.

But Hell.....Hell exist.

This is also one of the reason for Ashana Angah reluctance to offer any advice to Aeryon

To him, every blood is red.

Every life is precious.

When Yan people killed the people of the Steppe sparing no one, that is wrong.

When an Emperor of Yan treated human beings like they are indispensable that is wrong

Every debt has a debtor and every wrong has its perpetrator. If you move from these lines, then you are wrong.

Humans emotions and human desires, if you do not control them, they would control you.

Those who could say greater good are only divine beings.

Because only them could see fate and destiny clearly and could really said confidently that a death of someone or a life of someone would affect the greater good

But mortal saying someone should die for the greater good, they did not say it from a place of certainty but a place of arrogance and hubris.

Yan action is wrong.

But if the Steppe people killed innocent are they also wrong?

Yes, they are wrong.

Two wrongs does not make a right.

Wrong is wrong and right is right.

But this simple logic is the hardest to execute.

Because humans have desires and the more desires they have, the more they wanted to act on that desire

It is a part of being human.

Making mistake and learning from it, and hopefully improving step by step. And sometimes, when one make progress too fast, then they would be halting.

And then they have to start again.
