When system cheat becomes rampant!-Chapter 579 - 431: Desolate Beast Arena

This is a rule of the system type.

If Xiang Beifei had to describe it, it would be more like the system rule created by Zhu Yiji's "Square and Round Rules". The moment he tried to disclose the secret, his speech would be directly controlled, and a strong aura would be immediately emitted to notify the person who was exercising that ability.

Not only that, but as the aura enveloped him, he felt as if he had established an invisible connection with someone.

This meant that no matter where he went, he would be under the surveillance of that person, who could even use this aura to directly locate him!

The man in charge of registration saw that Xiang Beifei was cooperative and his expression softened a bit. Then he put a bracelet on Xiang Beifei and said, "Don't wander off in the desolate beast breeding base. Some desolate beasts here are highly aggressive, and you are just an S-class at the Meridian Opening stage. I don't want you to lose your life here."

"Understood," Xiang Beifei nodded.

"Come this way."

Zhao Ruizhong was already used to such checks and didn't say much, taking the lead to walk outside. Dai Lan followed behind them lazily.

"Xiaohei, be careful," Xiang Beifei said to Xiaohei in his mind.

It was safer to leave the exploration of this place's secrets to Xiaohei. Xiaohei was naturally invisible to others and could ignore various system abilities. With little glasses, it could record everything here.

"Woof woof!"

Xiaohei immediately hopped up and ran off with its tail wagging.

"Ao wu! Ao wu!"

The Wooden Kirin was also eager to play. It had the ability to turn invisible and wouldn't be seen by people, but Xiang Beifei stopped it.

This guy wasn't too bright; who knew what trouble it might cause if it rushed off somewhere.

"Ao wu, ao wu!"

The Wooden Kirin assured him solemnly that it would not cause any trouble. It just wanted to scope out the place to become familiar with the layout, so it could strike directly at the heart if there was an attack next time!

"Then remember to behave, don't get into a fight with anyone! Follow Xiaohei and take its lead!"

"Ao wu ao wu."

The Wooden Kirin was itching with impatience and quickly shook its butt as it chased after Xiaohei.

The teleportation pavilion was built within a courtyard, which was quaint, reminiscent of an old-fashioned Siheyuan, with limited visibility. The sky was clear with lazily drifting white clouds against the blue, but that was a false illusion created by the system.

There was an arched gate ahead. Passing through the gate, they came to a long corridor, which was styled with the simplicity of an ancient courtyard, complete with red-painted wooden handrails and a rather unique surrounding.

Scenes to either side varied. On the left, one could see a bamboo forest, lush and teeming, with dark shadows flickering within.

On the right was the sea, seemingly boundless, with the waves gently rolling. It was unknown what sort of desolate beasts lived within those waters.

Xiang Beifei was pondering this when suddenly a massive tentacle shot out of the sea toward them.

"What the hell!"

Xiang Beifei jumped in fright, his complexion turning pale, as he quickly dodged towards Zhao Ruizhong.

However, the tentacle was blocked by an invisible fluctuation as it reached the red-painted wood of the corridor, emitting a buzzing sound and repelling it.

"It turns out you get scared too. I thought you were a block of wood," Dai Lan said with a playful smile on the side.

"How could I not be scared when it suddenly springs at you?" Xiang Beifei calmed himself and steadied his nerves as he spoke.

"Aren't you capable of cultivating even late-stage Meridian Opening desolate beasts? That's just a mid-stage Meridian Opening desolate beast."

Xiang Beifei frowned and said, "I can control the Earth Dragon, but not that. How could I have the strength to face it?"

Dai Lan chuckled lightly and said, "Well, that's true."

But internally, she was a bit more relieved.

The kid was clearly scared.

Although he tried to cover it up afterwards, pretending to be composed, the initial reaction was genuine.

It seemed he really was just a greenhorn fresh out of graduation.

Probably no serious threat.

Zhao Ruizhong said, "That's a Black Water Octopus and Water Pig hybrid, delicious as a meat animal for cultivation. Don't worry, as long as you stay on this corridor, you won't be harmed by any desolate beast."

"Got it."

Xiang Beifei nodded, straightening his sleeves, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over the sea.

He could wipe out such desolate beasts with just a breath, but his current identity was a martial artist at the early stage of Meridian Opening. "Fear" was the least respect he could give to this persona.

He glanced to the left again, sizing up the bamboo forest, and inquired, "Judging from the shape of these ancient-text bamboo, is this area for cultivating black-and-white beasts?"

"Yes, these black-and-white beasts have very powerful attacks, but their pelts are quite valuable. The temperature remains steady at thirty degrees even after death; they are commodities for keeping warm. This place is vast, with many sectors separated from each other, yet all part of the true outer desolate regions. Follow me, and don't get lost," Zhao Ruizhong explained.

They had only taken a few steps along the corridor when a small cart came rolling by. The cart was like those found in scenic areas for sightseeing. Once the three of them were aboard, it started to move slowly along the corridor.

The corridor seemed endlessly long, with the vast ocean always to their left, while the right side constantly changed, starting from bamboo forests all the way to canyons, then to plains and small mountains.

Soon, the corridor forked, and they took the left one. The ocean was out of sight as they entered a pitch-black cave. The light suddenly dimmed, and they walked as if underground, with red eyes occasionally flashing in the cave. However, they did not linger there.

Zhao Ruizhong took regular pauses, frequently leaving the cart to check on the growing desolate beasts in the enclosures. These modified desolate beasts were all raised in the true outer desolate regions. Though penned in, they had a wide range of movement and strong adaptability.

Xiang Beifei used a recorder to note all the desolate beasts altered by Zhao Ruizhong, getting a mental tally. Zhao Ruizhong also detailed for Xiang Beifei how he had modified these beasts, while also asking for his opinions on their modification.

As he seriously offered his insights to Zhao Ruizhong, he also kept an eye on the surroundings. He was looking for the heavily guarded mountain that Zhao Ruizhong had mentioned.

Along the way, he had indeed seen many mountains large and small, but it was clear they were all constructed for the desolate beasts, not the important site Zhao Ruizhong spoke of that even he hadn't visited.

Unfortunately, Dai Lan was always behind them, listening to their conversation and occasionally contributing a few words, so Xiang Beifei couldn't ask openly.

Now, all he could hope for was that Xiaohei and the Wooden Kirin would scout around and perhaps find that mountain. It would be best if they could draw a map of this place.

They quickly arrived at the breeding base for Earth Dragons and Ground Serpents. The eggs of the Ground Serpents were still incubating. Zhao Ruizhong asked Xiang Beifei to select experimental subjects among the Earth Dragons. The researchers here had already caught over thirty Earth Dragons to provide offspring.

Xiang Beifei purposely took ten minutes to inspect each Earth Dragon, telling Zhao Ruizhong why he chose those particular Earth Dragons, trying to buy time for Xiaohei.

Dai Lan merely yawned beside them, bored as she watched the experiments unfold. She had no interest in such matters, but she didn't complain, keeping her attention fixed and giving Xiang Beifei no opportunity to act.

However, just then, a thunderous "boom" resounded from afar. The sound was massive, as if something had exploded, the ground rumbling ominously!

Xiang Beifei's heart skipped a beat!

Damn it, could it be that Erha, the Wooden Kirin, had stirred up some trouble?

This was not good!

"What's happened?" Zhao Ruizhong asked.

Dai Lan, who had been yawning on a stone beside them, also stood up. She frowned slightly before leaping up, tapping twice on the tree branches, and promptly reached the high sky.

She gazed into the distance, seemingly observing something, and quickly withdrew her gaze to jump back down, landing beside them, she said, "It's nothing serious, quite normal."

Normal?

Xiang Beifei found it strange.

Do such occurrences frequently happen in this desolate beast field?

Nevertheless, he breathed a sigh of relief. Since Dai Lan said so, it meant that the disturbance was not caused by Erha and Xiaohei.

Zhao Ruizhong seemed unclear about what was happening there, too. He asked with confusion, "How can such a big tremor be normal?"

No sooner had he spoken than another thunderous shaking began!

The ground trembled again, and from a distance, there were shouts, as if people were calling out about something. The air was even swirling with countless powerful fluctuations. Each of those fluctuations was terrifyingly strong, easily at the level of God Refining beings!

Dai Lan lazily spread her hands and said, "Just a little mishap, it's been happening for the last couple of days. But no worries, it's under control."

Boom, boom, boom!

The tremors continued!

The birds and beasts in the forest were howling in panic, darting to escape. Even the nearby Earth Dragons and Ground Serpents were frightened and attempted to burrow into the ground.

The shaking lasted for a full half-hour.

Zhao Ruizhong frowned as the ground kept trembling. It was impossible to work under these conditions, so they had to return to the sightseeing cart.

"The accident in the desolate beast field today seems a bit serious. Perhaps, Doctor, it would be better to come back another time," Dai Lan said.

"Alright, I've left the breeding records behind. Remember to handle them next time," Zhao Ruizhong instructed.

As they rode the cart back, they were about to reach the entrance of the park when they encountered a crowd ahead, seemingly talking anxiously about something.

"Quick, save him!"

"No use, his heart is having issues. We need to think of another way."

Suddenly, someone in the crowd raised their head, saw Xiang Beifei and the others, and shouted urgently, "Doctor Zhao, you've come at the right time, help us save him!"

The speaker was Lin Long.

And the one lying on the ground with burn marks and patches of green on his skin, as if poisoned, had his chest cut open, revealing a disproportionately large heart that was faintly beating.
