Chapter 62: Infernal Vortex Class ? (3)
Diego dragged Jade back by his collar. He was puzzled when he realized that Jade stopped struggling. Looking behind him, he found Jade grinning to the sky.
"Sir Diego, look up!" One of Sergio’s minions shouted, sounding terrified.
Diego did. His eyes widened in astonishment after realizing what the young master was grinning at. Looking down at Jade, Jade’s grin only grew wider as their eyes met.
Then, he muttered, "We’re both doomed, aren’t we?"
"What the fuck did you do?!" Diego fumed, but he had no time to choke the answer out of Jade when molten rocks, as large as them, started falling in their direction.
"The boss monster’s going this way! Run!"
Sergio’s minions started running in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, Sergio was dumbstruck, gawking at the sky. His composed and fake noble-like attitude vanished, and what was plastered on his face was confusion.
Yes, he was confused.
Boss monsters, according to the research, do not move outside their lair. It’s like they were programmed to protect only their turf, and once invaders reached their center, then that’s when they emerged.
So, this phenomenon was new to Sergio. On top of that, he was at a loss for what to do. His ability was useless in the face of a fire-type monster, only his resistance to heat was of help. But even if he could fight back, with Jade targeting them, he wouldn’t be able to use his awakened power.
"What are you doing?! Hurry and turn off your ability! Or else, all of us will die!" Sergio shouted at Jade, who seemingly embraced his role as a cape, fluttering behind Diego.
Jade simply looked at his father. A short chuckle escaped his lips. "If you want it off, kill me."
"You!" Diego yanked him forward. "Do you really want to die?!"
Jade furrowed his brows. "Isn’t that what I said? And what the hell’s with that look? Are you unwilling to kill me? You have no qualms when choking the life out of me before, why do you look scared now?"
Diego’s jaw clenched. His grip on Jade’s collar tightened. His eyes burned with something Jade could not name. Or maybe he could, he wasn’t just interested.
"Kill him."
Sergio’s cold and firm voice cut through them. Diego stiffened. Jade turned to his father, giving him a look that said he wasn’t scared or bothered at all. It irked Sergio more.
"I said kill him! I don’t care about his ability anymore. We need to survive and get out of here!" He yelled at Diego, snapping the latter from his state of daze.
Diego gritted his teeth. A few seconds later, he raised his hand, ready to strike Jade with multiple punches in the face and gut.
Jade smirked. Diego was perplexed. Even his lord feared death, yet this person was not scared at all.
Every time Diego found Jade at death’s door, Jade never showed fear and calmly embraced it. There were times that he even looked bored in life and was just entertaining himself by letting his father torture him in different ways.
Diego admired the attitude of that young Jade. He was amazed. Everyone has fears, that’s what makes them human, but in his eyes, Jade was special. He was different. He fears nothing. If someone should rule an empire, it should be him.
Yet now, he was forced to kill that person he wanted to rule over him, to own him.
He feared death just as his lord did, so he wouldn’t be able to break the binding contract Sergio put on him.
Just when the first punch was about to land on Jade’s face, a green screen met Diego’s fist instead. Then, a large boulder struck Diego away from Jade.
Jade thought he was going to be thrown with the mad dog because his collar was still gripped, but he almost bit his tongue when all he found hanging on the collar was a severed arm. He slapped the hand away instantly, his body falling behind due to the impact of that strike, but then, large hands caught his body and pulled him away from where he was standing.
A second later, a molten rock fell on the same spot.
"Fuck. That almost killed me," Jade muttered calmly. Suddenly, he felt his neck was grabbed by the person behind him, his nails digging lightly on his skin.
Then, a sinister voice came. "Indeed, that is. But since you survived, why not die in my hands instead? You don’t seem to care whether you live or die, anyway."
Jade shuddered. He scratched his chin and gulped nervously. "Don’t say it like that, captain. Did you not see me struggling to survive?"
"By how? By provoking your enemies so they lash out and kill you immediately?" Claude’s grip tightened on Jade’s neck. "Why are you seeking death so badly? Do you have beef with it?"
"Death eats beef?" Jade asked dramatically. "A—Ah...ah! It’s a joke, captain! Can you let me go now?"
Claude lifted his head by pushing his hand up on Jade’s neck; thus, tilting Jade’s head back. With this, he saw Claude’s darkened face, yet there was a flicker of worry in his eyes. Jade went silent and just stared at those obsidian orbs, quietly reveling in that new emotion he found in Claude.
Allen landed in front of them, looking slightly irritated. He cleared his throat, which caught Jade and Claude’s attention. Jade awkwardly acknowledged his presence and was about to say his gratitude for that flying boulder, when Allen’s gaze moved down to his stomach.
Noticing this, Jade looked down as well. His lips parted in shock at the sight of Claude’s other hand above his stomach, as he held him in place. Only then did Jade realize that he was sitting in between Claude’s legs. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
He swallowed the lump of awkwardness mixed with nervousness, bewilderment, and embarrassment in his throat.
"We better move quickly. That monster’s heading towards us," Claude stated, ignoring Allen’s prickling gaze. He pushed Jade away. Allen caught the latter and pulled him up without saying anything.
The rest of the team Alpha-03 arrived at their side, while Alpha-02 held back the boss monster.
"How did you end up here, Jade?" Etienne came forward and asked Jade.
"I was brought here, unwillingly." After saying that, he looked at the staggering Diego a few meters away from them. Then, his eyes moved to his father. "Your kingdom will fall before it even begins, Father."
Everyone paused. Their shocked gazes turned to Sergio, and then to Jade.
