Oh No, Daddy Sent Me To The Beast World!
Chapter 139: You bullied Baiyu!
Hu Baiyu looked up slowly.
Feng Yiren’s red tail swished behind him, and his voice became even sharper because the more hurt he felt, the more his mouth became wicked. "You cannot even control yourself around our female? She only sat on you for a little while and you already scared her away."
Hu Baiyu’s eyes widened slightly.
Then his lion ears drooped lower.
The words hit exactly where Feng Yiren wanted them to hit, and for one small ugly moment, the fox felt satisfied. If he could not be the one sitting there with Lin Huahua on his lap, then at least Hu Baiyu should not sit there looking happy either. That was a terrible thought, but Feng Yiren was petty enough to have it and honest enough in his heart to know he had it.
Hu Baiyu lowered his eyes.
His hands slowly folded on his lap, and the guilt that had already been in him grew heavier. Maybe Feng Yiren was right. Maybe he had scared her. Maybe he was too greedy. She had been kind to him for such a short time, and he had already forgotten himself. She had only started trusting him, and he had made her run out.
His lion tail lay still behind him.
Feng Yiren saw that and should have felt better.
Instead, something else twisted in his chest.
But before that feeling could become guilt, a sharp small voice came from outside.
"Feng Yiren!"
The fox’s ears twitched.
That voice was not good.
The next moment, Lin Huahua stormed back through the hide curtain with her cheeks still red and her white rat ears trembling from anger. She had not gone far at all. She had only stepped outside to cool her face down, but her ears were still beast ears, and even though she was a rat beastwoman and not as powerful as them, she had still heard enough.
She had heard Feng Yiren shame Hu Baiyu.
She had heard that big foolish lion become silent.
And for some reason, that made her more upset than her own embarrassment.
"You shameless fox!" Lin Huahua shouted, looking around quickly for something to throw.
Feng Yiren immediately stepped back because he knew that look.
"Wait," he said at once. "I did not do anything."
"You did not do anything?" Lin Huahua grabbed a rolled piece of dried hide from the side and threw it at him with all the strength her small body could gather. "You bullied Baiyu!"
Feng Yiren dodged it easily, but Lin Huahua had already grabbed a small bundle of plant fiber next and threw that too. He dodged again, his red tail puffing slightly because he could not believe she was defending Hu Baiyu this fiercely while he, Feng Yiren, was the one who had gone out to collect soft skins for her.
"I only said the truth," Feng Yiren said while stepping back toward the entrance.
"You said nonsense because you are jealous."
Feng Yiren froze for half a breath.
Then his ears went red.
Lin Huahua pointed at him with fury. "Do not think I do not know. You are jealous because I was playing with him."
Feng Yiren’s mouth opened, but no sound came out for one moment.
Then he turned his head away and sneered. "Why would I be jealous?"
Lin Huahua picked up a small dried root.
Feng Yiren immediately turned and ran outside.
"I really did nothing," he shouted while escaping, though the guilty speed of his running already betrayed him.
Lin Huahua chased him only to the entrance, threw the dried root after him, missed completely, and watched him disappear around the side of the cave with his red tail flying behind him. She stood there breathing hard, her cheeks still red, her ears twitching with anger, and her tail flicking so sharply that anyone could see she was still upset.
Then she remembered Hu Baiyu.
Her anger softened at once.
She turned back and saw him still sitting on the fur, head lowered, shoulders tense, and ears drooping like he had done something unforgivable. The sight made Lin Huahua’s heart squeeze so badly that she almost felt angry at Feng Yiren all over again.
She walked back to him slowly. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Hu Baiyu lifted his eyes only when she stopped in front of him.
He looked guilty.
So guilty that Lin Huahua immediately felt that if she did not say the right thing now, this foolish lion might carry that shame for the rest of the night.
She crouched down in front of him, then placed both hands on his broad shoulders, making him look at her.
"Baiyu," she said seriously. "I did not run away because I was disgusted by you."
His eyes flickered.
His ears lifted a little, then stopped, as if he did not dare hope too quickly.
Lin Huahua’s own ears turned pink because now that she had to explain, the embarrassment came rushing back again, but she still forced herself to continue. "I only ran because I was... I was not ready. You surprised me. That is all. I did not hate it. I did not hate you. I was only flustered."
Hu Baiyu stared at her.
His blue eyes slowly widened.
Lin Huahua looked away for one second, then mumbled, "When it is time, when I am ready, I will be happy to do it with you."
The cave became so quiet that even the fire seemed to crackle louder.
Hu Baiyu froze completely.
Then his lion tail betrayed him.
It gave one strong, excited thump against the fur.
Lin Huahua heard it.
She looked down.
His tail thumped again, this time softer, but still too obvious.
Her face burned. "You are too easy to make happy."
Hu Baiyu’s ears perked up fully now, and the sadness from a moment ago disappeared so fast it almost looked funny. His whole face softened into a kind of bright silent joy that made him look far younger than his huge body.
