Chapter 1052: Relentless Suppression
Di Xin’s ridicule still failed to elicit a response from Gu Shenghui. He continued with his attack plan methodically. Facing the enemy surrounded by blocks of LEGO, he formed a chain in the void and, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, cast it into the LEGO blocks beneath. The inconspicuous chain soon disappeared amidst the constantly emerging blocks.
The battle continued, and the trapped beast fought back fiercely. Di Xin’s emotions grew more agitated. As his attacks grew more powerful, the defensive fortress made of blocks was in danger of being breached. Then, the situation changed once more.
Di Xin punched into the body of a block soldier rushing toward him. The block soldier was smashed to pieces, just like the others before it. However, when he retrieved his fists, he was surprised to find handcuffs had been clamped onto his wrists.
Seeing this, Di Xin paid little attention and tried to break them with force. Creak, huh? Creak, huh! He attempted to break them twice, but not only did the handcuffs not shatter as he expected, they extended more chains, which began crawling up his arms toward his neck.
Power destruction, ability attack, Origin energy shock! With a crisp crack, the continuous assault seemed to have an effect, but not a significant one. The chain was merely pulled open, forming a crack. Seeing this, Di Xin understood this wasn’t an ability nor related to the Power of Origin; it was likely the result of a fusion with a Divine Artifact.
"A Divine Artifact! Another sealing-type Divine Artifact! Even though Ning Quanchen’s Qiankun Guiyuan Mirror couldn’t trap me, what can a few broken chains do?" Trapped once again by the same type of Divine Artifact, Di Xin felt both helpless and furious. As he roared angrily, he began to unleash all his potential from within. The immense power, combined with the impact of Origin energy, started to crack the chains binding him with fine lines.
Seeing this, Gu Shenghui still appeared calm and collected. The LEGO blocks at his feet continued to attack Di Xin during this time, while he waved the Judge’s pen in his hand, writing Chinese characters and attaching them to Di Xin’s body. With his other hand, he was drawing circles in the air. After a moment, a spatial rift split open above, and a large quantity of viscous liquid poured down from the crack.
The confinement by the chains of the Divine Artifact, combined with the attacks from weapons made of LEGO blocks, had already left Di Xin exhausted and overwhelmed. The addition of one negative status character after another left him in agony. Finally, the viscous liquid falling from the sky enveloped him completely, becoming the last straw to break the camel’s back.
"What the hell is this stuff!" Already unable to move, Di Xin frantically shook his body, roaring as he tried to shake off the disgusting liquid on him. However, the more he struggled, the tighter his body adhered, sticking together more firmly.
"Oh, is this also Gu Chu’s ability?" Jiang Feiyang looked at the large amounts of transparent liquid pouring in and gradually solidifying, embarrassed by the sight of Di Xin wrapped like a giant amber.
"It’s unlikely that Di Xin can escape now." Pei Yan finally relaxed his tense nerves and spoke happily upon seeing this.
Lin Junzhao chimed in, echoing, "Adhesive, one of the abilities Gu Shenghui absorbed. Compared to the Divine Artifacts provided to you, what I gave him is weaker, but among the Divine Artifacts, it is still top-tier, called the Dragon-Catching Lock. This thing was created precisely to imprison high-level cultivators. The greater the force you exert to break free, the more it absorbs, and the stronger the counter-seal on you becomes. Although Di Xin has extraordinary power and abundant internal Origin energy, enough to possibly break through this shackle, under Gu Shenghui’s characters reducing his abilities and the adhesive overwhelming him, he’s completely immobilized, unable to leverage strength. Without the aid of strength, relying solely on Origin energy to break a Divine Artifact is almost impossible."
On the platform, Di Xin also realized this problem. Trapped, his entire body was glued together, leaving him unable to separate even his fingers. The chains around him tightened further! His mouth, nose, and skin were all covered by the adhesive, and breathing became increasingly difficult.
Bang! A muffled explosion sounded, and the semi-solidified adhesive exploded under Di Xin’s surge of Origin energy. Amid pieces of shattering adhesive flying in the air, he barely escaped his plight. In a disheveled state, Di Xin raised his head and roared angrily, "Do you think this can confine me? How much ability can you muster? I am the Human Emperor! In front of me, all abilities are only to be absorbed and submit to me..."
Before he could finish his words, more of the fresh adhesive surged back and swallowed him again. Gu Shenghui, who had been silent since the battle began, finally spoke, "You merely happened upon some abilities; it doesn’t mean you truly became the abilities. Having numerous abilities without properly developing and using them is just a waste."
After saying this, Gu Shenghui put away the Judge’s pen he had condensed, raised his hands, and pointed at Di Xin. Then, with a strong grasp, the viscous semi-solidified liquid around Di Xin suddenly turned back to pure liquid form, accompanied by his miserable scream.
"Uh~ah!"
Despite being seasoned warriors, the onlookers below the stage couldn’t help but frown at the spectacle on the platform. Among the researchers in the Investigation Hall who came with an observational mindset, some women were frightened to the point of tears, and a few even started vomiting, throwing the scene into chaos.
"This is..." Pei Yan was also startled by the sight before him. Di Xin, drenched by the transformed liquid, had his skin beginning to blister and then corrode through. As the liquid continually seeped deeper, the exposed muscular tissue started breaking down, and his self-healing speed couldn’t keep up. In this dire situation, Di Xin could only focus on protecting his vital areas. Meanwhile, the muscles in his hands and feet were corroded away, revealing stark white bones, which also faced the risk of breaking as they came into contact with the liquid.
"Strong acid..." Ye Ruozai took over Pei Yan’s unfinished words, dumbstruck.
The scene of Di Xin, disfigured by the corrosive acid, frantically trying to heal himself while also crazily pulling at the chains around his body, was ghastly. A vast amount of Origin energy was poured out recklessly, scattering the liquid surrounding him. When the scattered liquid touched the nearby LEGO blocks and the platform, white smoke rose, emitting a pungent odor as it corroded a section.
Seeing this, Gu Shenghui rotated his hands, causing the flowing acid to change states once more, reverting to the solidified adhesive state. Di Xin, who had just been struggling fiercely, was once again encased. However, Gu Shenghui did not give him much of a breather. After re-securing the Cage Lock’s seal, the adhesive once again transformed into acid, continuing to inflict sustained damage on Di Xin.
And so, when Di Xin struggled fiercely, the acid turned into adhesive. When his state stabilized, the adhesive switched back to acid, combined with the continuous attacks from the LEGO blocks and the Cage Lock’s confinement, Di Xin was pushed to the brink of death.
