Chapter 64 - 142 (3)
As we followed the battle between Incus and Tigbone, we rushed towards the group of hiding survivors.
"Water dome!" Vertere summoned a spherical barrier of water, "lead all of the survivors towards me, I’ll set up a barrier for them!"
As I guided women, children and men towards Vertere, I asked:
"How much damage can the water barrier withstand, there is no way that you can hold up multiple water domes at once."
Vertere then conjured a dome of water around the people I guided towards him.
"Because I’m not constantly supplying it with mana, it won’t be able to take a lot of damage, but it can take up just enough... about a strong strike or two." Vertere opened a potion of mana then drank it.
"Everyone, Incus is on the move!" Lieur shouted, his voice loud and clear.
Quickly jumped out of the living room we were in, through a window.
Suddenly, wind wrapped around me as Incus used the steel strings to pull everyone towards her and Ulna.
Incus was being slammed from building to building.
Untangling the steel strings around me, and Alleus, except for Vertere. I started running as fast as I could, choosing the most optimal path without any obstacles.
Stopping just in front of Incus, she told a family to gather the survivors.
"Alleus, there’s no way that the family can find other survivors, knock them out." I then turned towards Vertere, "You, assist her. Make sure that you take them on the second floors of the building, so that when they do fall, the water dome will protect them."
Doing as I said, Incus was having an inner monologue.
After a moment or two, Vertere and Alleus did as I commanded.
Incus then standed up.
Glancing up at the window screen, I shouted:
"Ulna cloak us now! Vertere form a road of ice behind us, Alleus and Lieur make sure that we don’t steer off course!"
Damn it, if only the dragon scales were here with me... what’s taking it so long.
All four of us were then cloaked in wind, Ulna made Vertere float up in the air and held his hand.
Pointing his wand, Vertere mumbled a spell which began forming a road of ice.
Incus then dashed past us.
Running on the ice... no it was more like we were gliding, our strides were wide.
Alleus would use her ’Vanishing step’ skill to push us forward if our speed slowed down.
Noticing that I was steering more diagonally outside of the road of ice, Lieur wrapped me in the steel string, pulled me back before adjusting my direction and pushing me forward.
When Lieur steered off direction herself, she would ask for Alleus to help her.
Soon, the road of ice stopped and Incus was clashing against the demon Tigbone.
"Scatter and look for survivors, prioritize the children!" I extended my hand, as I commanded in a stern tone. "Alleus stay here and watch over their battle."
"Got it!" Alleus raised a hand, pointing her palm towards me.
Smacking the palm of her hand with my own, we did a high five.
Running inside a tall building, a broke opened the door.
Running all the way up, I forced my way through all of the living spaces which contained families.
"Who are you, what are you doing!" A man pointed a knife at me.
Grabbing his hand, I forced it down.
"We’re knights tasked to protect and serve the public. Come with me, staying inside a confined space where the walls and roof will crumble won’t protect you." Looking behind him, I noticed that there wasn’t a mother but only a little boy who looked like the man holding a knife.
"If you ever dreamed of being a hero yourself, then this is the time. Come and help me warn the others and make sure that they arrive at the second floor." I continued, my words rushed.
"But why the second floor, shouldn’t we evacuate to the basement or second floor?" The man asked.
"Don’t question me." I glared into his eyes, making him look down at the ground.
Dropping the knife, the man took his son’s hand and started banging on the doors of other people.
"Open up, we have to evacuate to the second floor!" The man shouted, his son rushing to other doors and doing the same.
Soon we had the top floor evacuated, but one of the doors were budging open.
Forcing my way open, there was a grumpy looking old man with a cane in hand.
"How dare you barge your way inside my house, I will file a complaint against you!" The old man then swung his wooden cane at me.
Catching it mid air, grimaced.
"I’m a knight sent with the hero Incus, if you wish to live then you better follow me." I then slowly let go of the gain.
"O-Okay." The old man’s face began pouring sweat.
"Half of you continue evacuating the top floors, and the half of you will come with me and evacuate the bottom most floors!" When I barged my way inside the tall building... an apartment, I noticed that there was a stairway which lead downwards.
"I will come with you sir!" The man who pointed a knight towards my from earlier stepped up.
"I will too!" His son stepped up as well.
Two other families also decided to accompany me.
Not bother to use the stairs, I jumped down through the empty space which the guard rails were supposed to stop people from falling.
Crashing down to the ground, those who volunteered were still running down the stairs.
Looking around, the lighting sucked.
As I began knocking all of the doors on one side, the volunteered had arrived and began knocking the doors on the other side.
The doors then opened one by one, but this time they all opened.
"I-Is it finally safe to leave, otherwise, why would you knock on our doors." A lady questioned.
As I began to explain the situation, they quickly followed me.
After a few moments, everyone had gathered in the second floor.
Opening a window, I shouted:
"Vertere!"
