True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits
Chapter 42: Beginner?
"Before you enter the training floor, there is something I need to tell you."
"Is this where you finally confess your true feelings?"
Lucian grinned.
Sable looked at him with a deadpan look on her face, at this point, she was already used to it so—
"No one outside the evaluation staff needs to know the details of your case."
"The details?"
Lucian frowned and stopped with the playful jokes.
"Yes.
The purity level of the blood you drank.
The way your body responded to that blood.
None of that is public trainee information.
Don’t reveal anything."
"So what do I tell them?"
Lucian asked.
Lucian’s eyes narrowed.
"What your band shows.
Blood-Altered Human."
"And if they ask where I got the blood from?"
"You do not answer."
That made Lucian frown.
"That is your solution?"
"Yes."
"What if they keep asking?"
"Continue not answering."
"..."
Lucian had no idea how he was supposed to respond to that, he looked down at his band and—
"What does Blood-Altered usually mean?"
Dr. Sable adjusted the tablet in her hand and started explaining.
"A normal Blood-Altered Human is someone who consumed heavily diluted supernatural blood and awakened minor traits from it. Increased senses, small physical enhancement, weak elemental reaction, beast instinct, healing response, charm sensitivity, things like that." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Heavily diluted?"
"Yes."
"How diluted?"
"Very."
Lucian stared at her, looking for a more specific answer.
Dr. Sable looked back and—
"Very, very, very diluted.
Even the blood of the weakest class of Supernatural is supposed to be diluted at least a thousand times before most could even consider drinking it, else they would simply explode."
"And what I drank was..."
"You drank the Blood of a High Incubus, one of the Strongest Classes of Demons in the whole world—
Undiluted."
Lucian finally understood it.
"So this is why..."
"Yes, this is why your case is unusual, you should not have survived.
No human, or even a demon should survive what you did."
"Even a demon?"
Lucian raised his eyebrow.
Dr. Sable nodded.
"Weak demons often crave the blood of a stronger demon of the same kind to raise their natural limit."
Lucian realized it.
This must be the reason that Incubus came for the blood that day.
"But even demons don’t consume Higher Class Blood in one sitting, they usually dilute it and drink it in at least ten to twenty sittings, each sitting slowly raising their power.
You, however, are different—
You drank undiluted High Incubus Blood in one go and instead of destroying your body, the blood adapted to it.
So no—
Do not go around saying what you did out loud, that will only bring more trouble."
Dr. Sable warned and Lucian nodded with a solemn look on his face.
"Blood-Altered Human it is."
"Good."
Dr. Sable nodded back as she tapped her card against the door panel.
The door opened and the instant it did, the noise hit him. A different kind of noise compared to the office hallway, it was... more exciting.
The sound of feet hitting mats, wooden weapons striking each other, people breathing hard, orders being shouted, something like electricity crackling—
It had the same vibe as the MMA Centre he went to, this one just seemed... wilder.
And that made Lucian’s eyes glow in excitement.
This was what he was waiting for, he was finally going to learn how to get stronger, he could finally take his first step into getting his revenge.
His eyes burned, he looked at the training hall, it was huge, the ceiling was high, the floor was divided into different sections, and the walls were lined with equipment. Some areas had mats, some had targets, some had weight machines that looked slightly different from the ones he was used to. There were weapon racks on one side, marked floors on another, and a wide open space in the centre.
In contrast to the huge training hall, there were only about twenty trainees inside, most looked around Lucian’s age, some were older, some were younger.
Then Lucian observed them with a curious look on his face.
A girl near the wall had silver marks moving faintly under her skin, a boy with golden eyes tossed a wooden knife from one hand to another without looking at it, another trainee had faint scales along the side of his neck, one woman in a grey training uniform stood perfectly still while a small stone floated above her palm, a lean boy was blindfolded, but he kept turning his head whenever anyone moved near him.
Lucian was impressed at how ridiculously strange and... random it all was.
And as Lucian stared, Sable moved to the man standing at the centre of the hall, wearing training clothes, Lucian followed.
The man was tall, broad-shouldered, and had a calm face. The moment he saw Sable, he greeted her politely,
"Doctor."
"Assessment transfer."
Sable spoke as she pointed at Lucian.
The instructor glanced at Lucian, then to his wristband and the instant he read it, he raised his eyebrow.
Lucian noticed it and he immediately knew the reason.
His Classification.
Not the Blood-Altered part, it was the Incubus part.
With their identity as Sex Demons, who would not feel a little uncomfortable around him? The instructor was no different, he, however, was better than most, so he instantly forced away whatever prejudice he had in his mind regarding the Incubi and walked towards Lucian.
"I am Instructor Kade Rowan."
"Lucian Cross."
Lucian introduced himself but he did not extend his hand for a handshake, he didn’t wish to make him feel uncomfortable.
Instructor Rowan nodded.
"For now, you will join the beginner assessment group."
Lucian raised his eyebrow at those words.
"Beginner?"
He was strong, you know?
A few trainees heard him, one just snorted at his confidence. The instructor, on the other hand, was different.
This was not his first time meeting someone like Lucian, those who mistakenly consume supernatural blood and gain supernatural abilities, no matter how shallow or weak, start believing themselves to be God of the World until their illusion is broken.
Lucian was no different.
And that only made Rowan laugh.
"Do you have formal Enclave combat training?"
He asked.
"No."
Lucian shook his head.
"Energy control training?"
"No."
"Weapons training?"
"No."
"Supernatural law education?"
"No."
"Containment procedure knowledge?"
"No."
"Then yes.
Beginner."
The instructor looked at him and Lucian—
"That’s fair."
He nodded to himself, agreeing with the instructor.
