Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 761 - 723: Registering for the Magic Potion Course
A Level 3 Mage who has mastered Rule Power possesses an overwhelming advantage when facing Level 2 and Level 1 mages.
It’s often said that Level 2 Elemental Mages are notoriously difficult to kill, but in front of a Level 3 Mage, just one glance from the opponent and the Level 2 Elemental Mage has nowhere to escape.
Duke was well aware of this, which is why he went to great lengths to gather the six attributes to advance to Level 2 Mage.
At least this way, he wouldn’t be easily targeted.
However, at this moment, as he personally experienced the Rule Power demonstrated by Aislyn, he felt a trace of fear within.
Duke clearly felt the sensation of Water Elemental Energy Particles being completely immobilized, with no possibility of using them whatsoever.
In such a situation, for a mage of the Water Element, it’s practically hopeless, with no chance of victory.
"Rule Power is the first great barrier on the mage’s path. Those who cross it can claim the title of High-tier Mage. Those who can’t, even if they live a thousand years, are just a slightly stronger ant."
Aislyn withdrew her gaze.
"However, that’s not the subject of today’s lesson."
She raised her hand, and the image on the screen changed again.
This time, a list appeared, densely packed with text, arranged neatly.
"This course is called Introduction to Element Control, and since it’s an introduction, there are introductory rules."
Aislyn turned around, her gaze sweeping across the audience.
"Four weeks later, the course will conclude. At that time, everyone will take the assessment."
Some people in the audience slightly straightened their bodies.
"The assessment is very simple: in a specific environment, demonstrate your element control ability."
She paused.
"However, the assessment criteria are divided into two categories."
She raised a finger.
"The first category, Elemental Mage."
Her gaze swept over Vera, Leon, those few students from Star Tower, and Duke.
"Within the stipulated time, you must extract the specified type and quantity of Elemental Particles from the environment and construct a magic model below Level 2 while maintaining extraction."
"The quantity extracted determines your score’s lower limit. The completion of the magic model determines your score’s upper limit."
"The second category, Non-elemental Mage."
Aislyn’s gaze swept over Morris and several young mages from the Seville Empire.
"You don’t need to extract Elemental Particles. Instead, you must sense and describe the trajectory, intensity, and flow patterns of particles extracted by Elemental Mages."
"The accuracy of your sensing determines your score."
For Non-elemental Mages, being able to clearly sense the flow, trajectory, etc., of Elemental Particles would be extremely useful in actual combat.
However, generally, Non-elemental Mages don’t have very high Elemental Affinity, so achieving this isn’t easy. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
This course clearly aims to conduct specific training in order to master such capabilities.
"Assessment passing basic reward: 100 contribution points."
"Regardless of whether you are an Elemental Mage or a Non-elemental Mage, passing the assessment guarantees you 100 points."
The second line lit up.
"Outstanding assessment additional reward: 50-200 contribution points."
"Outstanding standard —" She paused, "Elemental Mage, it depends on how many Elemental Particles you can extract from the environment and the completion of the magic model. Extracting more than 50% of the average quantity, completing the magic model without any errors, is outstanding."
"Non-elemental Mage, it depends on your sensing precision. Accurately describing the trajectory and patterns of particles extracted by over three Elemental Mages, is outstanding."
The third line lit up.
"Single breakthrough reward: additional 50 contribution points."
"This reward is only for one type of person— Elemental Mages who achieve 80% or more of the environment’s extraction limit; or Non-elemental Mages who can precisely predict the next extraction direction of Elemental Mages."
Duke quickly calculated in his mind.
Passing the assessment guarantees 100 points, with an outstanding additional 50-200 points, and a single breakthrough adding 50 points.
This means the highest possible reward is 350 points.
He had previously spent 35 points enrolling in this course; if he gets the highest reward, he nets 315 points.
With a target of a thousand points a year, this course alone could complete nearly a third.
From this perspective, the requirement of at least a thousand contribution points a year is actually quite low; the majority of people should be able to achieve this, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
For example, if someone enrolled in a course but failed the assessment, then the contribution points spent on enrollment would be wasted, along with time.
If one fails multiple course assessments, it could very likely result in insufficient contribution points to enroll in any courses or even to take on some tasks.
This would lead directly to a deadlock, leaving only the hope of finding a breakthrough in assessment tasks.
Duke was also aware that achieving the highest reward isn’t easy.
Especially the single breakthrough of extracting 80% or more of the environment’s limit, which Aislyn mentioned earlier, that Level 2 Elemental Mages cannot completely utilize specific Elemental Particles from the environment.
80% of the limit value means his control ability greatly surpasses that of his peers.
...
When the first class of Introduction to Element Control ended, the sunlight outside the window had shifted by about one hourglass.
Aislyn put away the complex Elemental Distribution diagram, her gaze sweeping the room one last time.
"Next lesson, I will explain the interaction and transformation between Elemental Particles."
She didn’t announce the end of the class, nor did anyone move.
Until she turned and left the classroom, the door silently closing behind her, the sound of exhaled breaths filled the room.
