Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 244: A One Woman Man
Chapter 244: A One Woman Man
Sticking out my tongue, I hated that I didn’t have a smart-ass response ready for Beau. "I get that," I sneered instead. Pouting, I pulled out another lollypop from my space before unwrapping it and sticking it in my mouth. "But..."
"But it’s different," nodded Dante. "Pride showed me a memory of you killing your father."
"That man has never been my father," I snarled, sitting upright as I turned on Dante. "And if you ever say that again, I will rip out your tongue just to see if you can regrow a new one."
Dante looked at me, his eyes wide as I threatened him, but I couldn’t help myself. That was why I never called him father. He was Père more often than not, Daddy when he forced me to call him that, and stepfather to everyone else. But I would never call that scum my father.
Even calling Chang Xuefeng Daddy was to take back that word, to make it something that means something to me instead of something from a nightmare. Chang Xuefeng was my Daddy because that was MY choice...
But I would never have a father. NEVER.
"I’m sorry," murmured Dante, holding up his hands in surrender. "I will never say that word again."
Swallowing whatever words were threatening to come out, I stiffly nodded my head.
"As I was saying," continued Dante, his arms slowly lowering as he kept an eye on my reaction. "Pride showed me what had happened, how you plunged a knife into his heart."
Nodding my head, I forced my muscles to relax as I once again laid down on Salvatore. "Yes, and I watched a demon plunge his hand into Luci’s chest, pull out her heart, and eat it."
"Okay den," grunted Ronan, opening a single eye. "So both ’ad a killin’ blow to de heart."
"And both came back to find me," I shuddered, remembering the dream. How could Père create such a good illusion? I mean, I was half happy that he had since it gave me ideas on how I could create my own illusions... cue breakfast the next morning.
"Could Père be my real..." not able to finish that sentence, I waved my lollypop in the air.
"I don’t know," sighed Dante. "But either way, I don’t think that matters."
"You don’t?" I sneered, raising an eyebrow. "How does that not matter?"
"Because whether he is your—" he waved his own hand in the air, "or not, if he is Luci, or Lilith, or whoever else he can become, his end game is still the same. You."
"Which means that anyone who approaches you from now on will have to go through all of us," chuckled Chang Xuefeng, his expression darkening for a second. "Which actually sounds like fun."
"You know," grunted Luca, his brows furrowing as he looked at the angel beside him. "You are a bit more psychotic than I had originally thought. You actually seem to want to kill someone for Hattie."
Ever so slowly, Chang Xuefeng nodded his head. "Let me kill for you, Hattie. Please, let me kill for you."
Sticking my lollypop back in my mouth, I shrugged my shoulders. "Whatever makes you happy. I mean, there are more than enough human/demon hybrids out there now for you to play with. Might as well have fun."
"That reminds me," grunted Tank. "You said that this realm is where magic goes to die; that’s why you created Hell. Was that part true?"
"Honestly?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. "It just came out, and then the more I thought about it, the more right it felt. I mean, you guys all needed you guys in order to come through."
Okay, wow, that was confusing even for me. "Let’s try that again. The Seven Deadly Sins needed to find a human body in order to come to Earth. Why?"
Dante looked like he was having a conversation with himself even as Luca spoke up. "Because that is the only way we can be here," he shrugged like it was just... known. He didn’t have to think of the answer; it just was.
"Right," I nodded. "You needed a human body... sorry guys!... in order to survive in this realm. When the rest of the demons managed to tear through the two realms, it wasn’t demons that fell from the sky; it was seeds."
"And des seeds?" grunted Désiré.
"Well," I sighed. "If you consider the seeds to be the souls of the demons..."
"Then the bodies died the moment they went through the rip, and their souls were forced to find human hosts," grunted Dante, his eyes widening as he looked at the other Sins.
"Yeah," I shrugged. "That’s why I stand by my statement that this is the place magic goes to die. Because you guys are nothing short of magic."
"And we’ll die if we cross over in our original bodies," grunted Envy, his chest vibrating under my back.
"Fuck me," sighed Désiré.
"No thanks," smirked Beau as he looked at the man over his shoulder. "You aren’t my type."
"I’m fucking Lust, I’m everybody’s type," smirked Désiré, sticking out his tongue. "But I agree. After meeting my Pet in real life, everyone else is nothing more than a shadow."
The rest of the men grunted, and I couldn’t hold back my smirk. "Does that mean I’ve made Lust a one woman demon?"
The look Désiré gave me was enough to make my panties melt if I were wearing any. "You have made me yours," snarled the demon through the man’s mouth. "It wouldn’t matter to me if you were a woman or a man, it’s you that calls to me and no one else."
As if to prove his point, Désiré reached into his chest and pulled out a single crystal shard that glowed in the darkness. "I don’t know if I am yours because a part of your soul is inside me or if your soul knew that it had a safe place to stay because I was originally yours. All I know is that I, the Fifth Deadly Sin of Lust, am yours. Whatever form you may take, wherever you might disappear, I will always find you. Every part of me is yours, even the parts I wish I could hide from you. Take my shard and do with it as you will. Keep me or destroy me; my fate has always been in your hands."
