Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 432: Where Are Your Parents?
Chapter 432: Where Are Your Parents?
Greed stared out of Luca’s eyes, trying to assess the enemy in front of him. A human only had a couple of weaknesses. Most were greedy for the basics... power, money, and women. If he could find what made Adam tick, he could easily get what he needed.
Otherwise, the demon was going to have to find another meat sack, and that meant finding his brothers. Greed couldn’t understand just why he was on Earth without the other six, but those questions could all be answered later.
"I will give you an entire army of demons, willing to do your bidding and without the moral compass that you seem to disdain," offered Greed. The blood was drying on his face as the demon side frantically healed the human side.
"Do I look like I need an army?" scoffed Adam, a slight smirk appearing on his face. "I can create my own army at the drop of a hat. Besides, just because I created the serum doesn’t mean that I’ve created the antidote."
"You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t have confidence that you could cure me," replied Greed with a shrug. "Even if you haven’t created the antidote yet, it doesn’t mean that you can’t easily do it. If you don’t want an army, what do you want? Money? Women? I can make it happen."
"Money is useless, and I can get my own women, thank you very much," purred Adam, enjoying the amount of power he had in this conversation. Right now, he had one of Lucifer’s demons begging him for a cure...
All because the demon wasn’t smart enough...
"Do you have your memories?" asked Adam, suddenly, cocking his head to the side. After all, all the Sin had to do was call out for Hattie, and she could grant him any wish, including healing both sides of him...
Greed raised an eyebrow as he stared at Adam. "Of course I have my memories," he announced, not a single muscle belieing his lie.
"You don’t," purred Adam, his eye lighting up as he realized that just because the demon could fight against the rot and death, it was still susceptible to amnesia. "Oh, this is fun."
Leaning back in his chair, Adam got comfortable. "I’d almost feel bad for you, if I was capable of it," chuckled the man as he stared down the demon. "You asked me what I want? I want a seat at her table."
"I don’t understand," replied Greed, narrowing his eyes on Adam’s face. Every muscle movement, every tick that Adam displayed, was catalogued by the Sin, and any weakness was going to be exploited. "You are already on the Council of New Dawn Sanctuary. Alicia apparently needs you for everything. Why are you asking me for a seat at her table?"
Adam chuckled and shook his head. "Not her table. I couldn’t care less about Alicia or all of her grand plans. What I want is a seat at the Devil’s table. You get me that, and I will be more than happy to give you the antidote."
Greed paused, his brain frantically going through every word. "First of all, the Devil is a male, not a female, so you mean HIS table. Secondly, even I haven’t seen him in the flesh. What makes you think that I can get you a seat at his table?"
"That’s for you to figure out," shrugged Adam, coming to his feet. "I gave you my conditions, let me know when you succeed on your end." With those final words, Adam strolled out of Luca’s apartment, never sparing the demon a second look.
Maybe the Puppet serum wasn’t that big of a failure. After all, it can not only turn humans into a new type of zombie, but it can also make the demons fall in line. For a moment, Adam considered what Lucifer would be like if she were under the spell of the Puppet serum, but quickly dismissed the thought.
What enchanted him so much about the Devil was her free spirit. She looked at things in a new way, one that never really judged anyone for their actions. That was one of the biggest reasons why he was so desperate for her to finally acknowledge him, just like she had in the garden. Those wide, innocent eyes made him think that anything was possible...
And he was desperate for that feeling to return.
-----
Coming to his feet, Greed walked over to the open windows and stared out at the Sanctuary below him. People were running around like little ants, thinking that what they were doing was so important. Little did they know or understand that nothing that they did mattered.
Demons walked amongst them, completely invisible to those who couldn’t see past their own nose. In fact, he could see more demon seeds infecting humans than he could see pure humans... and that was strange.
"When did demons come to Earth?" he murmured to himself, cocking his head to the side. Then again, if demons now made up the majority, as one of their Seven Kings, then nothing would stop him from taking over this place, this world, and recreating it in his image.
Taking in a deep breath, Luca thought about everything that he wanted and needed, everything that his heart desired, and more.
"I wish," purred Greed as he placed his hand against the cold glass. "I wish I knew where my brothers were." If all of the Seven Deadly Sins were here, then it would make it so much easier to rule the world.
Each brother could take a continent, their own personal armies controlling everything. No Devil to lord over them, no one to control them. The humans would be powerless...
"I mean, if you want," called out a young, female voice behind him. Spinning around, Greed stared down at the small creature. She was the cutest thing that he had ever seen, with her hair up in pig-tails and her little princess dress.
But the way she was looking at him? Why did it feel like a knife to the heart?
"How did you get in here?" asked Greed, his voice softening as he dropped to a knee. "It’s not safe for someone like you to run around. Where are your parents? I’ll bring you to them. Then again, they should be killed for letting you walk around without protection."
