Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 439: The Offer
Chapter 439: The Offer
Dimitri raised an eyebrow, refusing to move even as Eric strolled past him. "Wanna run dat by me again?" he purred. "’Cause I be guessin’ dat Hattie don’t know your little secret."
"We all have secrets, don’t we?" replied Eric, spinning around so that Dimitri could see his smirk. "Which Sin are you?"
"I have to admit, I’m a fan of all seven of them," chuckled Dimitri, his eyes glowing bright red. "But I have a bit more Wrath in me than the average person."
Eric nodded his head and held out his hand. "Cain... firstborn son of the original sin, and the most handsome one of all."
"Cute," nodded Dimitri, repeating Eric’s word. "But handsome donna buys you a whole lot with Hattie’s men."
"Ah, but it’s not her men I am interested in, now is it? Come on, demon-boy, let’s go see a dick about bug spray. And if you think Hattie is bad when it comes to making deals, then you’ve never spent time with Adam."
"Hattie doesn’t have a bad bone in her body unless she is fuckin’ one of us," smirked Dimitri, following behind Eric. "And I no be makin’ any deal unless it’s with de Devil."

Dimitri was almost impressed when it came to hunting down this mysterious Adam. The name sounded familiar, but for the life of him, he couldn’t figure out where he had heard it from.
"I feel like I need to warn you," sighed Eric. "He is a bit obsessed..." His words trailed off, but Dimitri wasn’t put off by them. Hell, if a man wasn’t obsessed with at least one thing, then was he really a man?
"I can handle obsessed," shrugged the demon, even as an inconspicuous door opened in front of him. Looking to the side, he noticed that Eric had his hand on the handprint reader. "Fancy technology for a place dat doesn’t do power."
"Useless technology if it can’t do the one thing it was made to do," announced a man as he glared over at Eric and Dimitri. He looked like a soldier playing scientist, but in the apocalypse, that wasn’t all that strange. After all, everyone needed to survive, and the zombies were more interested in brains than humans were.
Dimitri cocked his head to the side and stared at the man. "You look familiar," he announced at last. Where do I know you from?"
"I tried to kill you once," shrugged the man before he turned around to study the specimen in the microscope.
"Ah," nodded the demon. "Right, at the old Dragon Lair. I forgot about that."
"You seem oddly calm for meeting someone who wants you dead," mused Adam, making a note on the pad of paper beside him.
"A lot of people want me dead," sighed Dimitri as he wandered around the room. "It’s too bad that more don’t actually try. Life’s boring without a fight or two."
"You must be Wrath," grunted Adam. Without looking away from the microscope, he slapped Dimitri’s hand when it got a bit too close. "Pleasure."
"Not yet, it’s not," smirked Dimitri, his eyes flashing for a split second before returning to normal.
"Does she have any normal men beside her?" sighed Adam, pulling his attention away from the experiment and back to the child going unsupervised in his lab. "Statistically, there has to be one, right?"
"Now, dat’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?" smirked Dimitri, picking out a silver aerosol can and throwing it up in the air. Adam raced forward, trying to catch it before it crashed to the floor and destroyed the entire building. "Normal is underrated... especially when it comes to my Queen. Normal would be eaten up and spit out without a second thought. Ask Max... he was pretty normal."
"What are you here for?" demanded Adam, turning around to look at Eric. "In 50 words or less."
"Bug spray," sneered the other man from where he was leaning against the wall, his arms and legs crossed in front of him. "And look. I only needed two."
"I’ve created the formula, and there are about five that are ready to use, but I have no other cannisters. If you could tell me exactly why you need so much, then I might be able to come up with a better plan."
"Centipedes," announced Dimitri, holding up his hand, the palm facing Adam. "’bout dis big."
"The spays won’t work, I suggest buying really big boots and squishing them. It would be much more effective." The smile on Adam’s face was tight and cold, like he thought Dimitri was an idiot.
"Never thought of dat," nodded Dimitri, a thoughtful look on his face. "I’ll go back to my Queen and tell her dat you couldn’t even help her out with dis little thing."
"Centipedes have exoskeletons," Adam sneered. "A spray like what I have created is more effective against things like mosquitoes or spiders. For something like a centipede, it won’t phase them at all."
"Welp, dat’s not going to help the humans at all, now will it?" Dimitri looked at Eric before shaking his head. "Pity."
"Look," grunted Adam. "Will try to come up with something effective, but you are going to have to do something for me first."
"What?"
"Not going to say a long spiel about it having to be legal or not kill anyone?" chuckled Adam as he went back to his chair and sat down.
"Like I give a fuck," shrugged Dimitri. "But my patience is much too short for you to keep dragging out dis conversation."
"Then I’ll tell you the same thing I told Luca. I want a seat at her table," said Adam, his head high like it was his right to demand something like that. "I was made for her. I deserve a seat at her table."
"You were made for her, but we were made by her. We are what she considers ta be perfection, and not even we deserve a seat at her table. She invites dose dat she wants, and somethin’ tells me dat you aren’t on the list."
"I could be. If you want a bug spray that kills the centipedes, then you are going to put me on that list."
Dimitri made a disappointed tsking sound as he shook his head. "It’s cute dat you think you got de power here. You ain’t nothin’ but a squished bug under her shoe." frёewebηovel.cѳm
