Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse-Chapter 458: Dominion’s Rise
Chapter 458: Dominion’s Rise
The centipede’s tail came down like a guillotine, and Bishop moved so fast that it was almost impossible to keep up with him.
Lightning crackled in the air around him as he slid to the side, the tail striking the ground with a deafening boom. Cracks spiderwebbed across the earth where he’d stood just a breath before as chunks of concrete flew up into the sky.
Pissed that it had missed, the centipede lunged again, its mandibles wide. Bishop caught one of them with his bare hand and held on to it.
With his face twisted into a sneer, Bishop caught the other one in his other hand. Electricity danced up his arms before it seared into the bug’s head. The centipede shrieked, trying to get away, but not before Bishop let loose a pulse of energy that completely destroyed the creature’s right eye with a wet pop.
"You picked the wrong goddamn Sanctuary," Bishop snarled, his hands still gripping the outer mandibles.
Above, the demons watched in eerie silence. They knew this wasn’t their fight. This wasn’t a battle. This was a general’s declaration. If he expected the demons to fall in line as easily as the humans had, the ex-angel was in for a rude surprise.
Demons only followed those who could prove they were stronger than them. If Bishop couldn’t win this war by himself, he wasn’t worthy of creating his own army.
This was nothing short of a claiming.
The centipede shrieked again, this time twisting into a semi-circle, forcing Bishop to let go. Regrouping, the centipede king delivered its next blow. Its tail and head coming for Bishop from both sides as it tried to trap him in every way.
Moving even faster than the bug, Bishop ducked under the head, flipped up off a shattered slab of metal, and landed on the beast’s back, right behind its head.
The creature bucked wildly, smashing into buildings and trees as it tried to shake him loose. But Bishop dug his claws into its armor. Lightning surged from his body with every heartbeat.
But even then, it wasn’t enough.
The centipede slammed into one of the VIP houses that was still standing and Bishop crashed through the concrete, buried beneath rubble.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence.
Then— fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
BOOM.
The wall exploded outward. Bishop emerged, limping, blood running down his brow—but smiling.
"This is actually kind of fun. I haven’t been able to stretch my wings like this in a while, if you know what I mean." In fact, Bishop had never felt better. Not even in the heavenly realm, before he was kicked down to earth had he ever felt so strong, so powerful.
It was like nothing could stop him, the world was his for the taking. And he loved that feeling.
Raising his hand up to the sky, unfurrowing a set of demon wings, Bishop let himself just... be.
The sky split in half.
A massive bolt of lightning struck the battlefield, centered directly on Bishop. But instead of frying him, it was absorbed. His body glowed. Veins pulsed white-hot. His shadow flickered like a god’s behind him.
He sprinted toward the centipede, lightning arcing from his feet, as he leapt into the air, and bellowed for everyone to hear:
"This is my city, and you need permission to be here!"
With a single Superman punch, Bishop drove his fist through the centipede’s head, blasting through bone, brain, and steel.
The impact split the creature open from head to tail.
It collapsed in a heap of twitching limbs and acid smoke.
Silence fell.
Bishop landed in front of its corpse, dragging a sparking fist along the ground, his body still steaming.
The other demons descended behind him. Watching, judging Bishop.
Walt’s flames fizzled out, and Caspian’s wings melted into mist.
"What next, Boss?" asked Walt as he shook his body like a wet dog.
"We’re in," announced one of the newly born Lust demons. "At least we know we won’t be bored with a leader like you."
"Like I give a fuck," sneered Bishop, the smile on his face twisting into something terrifying. "We all know that if you aren’t in, I’ll kill you. What choice do you have?"
"They can always follow the Sins," chuckled Pride, stepping forward in his full demon form. "I mean, that’s the way it’s been since the creation of Hell."
"Meh," shrugged Bishop, shaking off all the bug goo from his fist. "Then I think it’s time for an overhaul, don’t you?"
"You want them?" purred Lust as he went to stand beside his brother. He really couldn’t hide the almost giddy smile on his face as he looked at Bishop. For countless millennia, the Sins had to fight everyone who thought they were stronger than them.
If this idiot was willing to step up and take their place? All the more power to him.
Bishop cocked his head to the side, studying the Sin. "They want me," he purred, like that was some type of good thing. Demons were vastly simple creatures. They followed power. Right now, Bishop had proven that he was the most powerful, so they would easily fall in line.
"No refunds or returns," chuckled Greed as he looked down at the small creature tucked under his arm. He might have forgotten her, but there was still a lot of things he hadn’t forgotten. Like his time in Hell.
All of the newly born demons had never seen a demonstration of the Sins’ power, so they had no idea just how strong they were. Now they could simply disappear into the sunset, and they would be free of all the responsibilities that had been drowning them for ages.
"I can handle them," assured Bishop, sweeping his arm to show off his newly born demon. "We are going to create a new city, just for demons. It won’t be divided by their caste, pride and lust demons can walk side by side, wrath and sloth can marry, we will be as one, the way we were intended to be."
Wrath cleared his throat and nodded his head. "Then we’ll leave you to your plans," he said. "Any idea what you are going to call it?"
"Dominion’s Rise."
