Chapter 460: Snowflake In A Swamp

While the guys and Bishop were bickering like a bunch of children, I studied the world around us. Things were starting to change, and they weren’t small changes, either.

No, these ones were enough to shake the very foundations of the world itself. Who knew that a simple fight would cause so many demon seeds to sprout? It was like Hell had appeared on Earth, and humans didn’t even know they were going extinct.

Shaking my head, I leaned against Greed. "I’m bored," I sighed, closing my eyes. Not my house, not my gators. Bishop could do what he wanted, when he wanted, with whom he wanted in the small city he was carving for himself.

I’d leave him to it... let it rise or fall on its own. As long as he stayed out of my business, I would stay out of his. It was a fair trade off, as far as I was concerned.

The guys didn’t want to rule this new Hell, with these new demons, and the idea of me ruling anything made me break out in hives. No, I was very happy doing my own thing and granting wishes from time to time.

"Then let’s get you home," smiled Eric as he reached out to brush a curl off my face. "Early to bed, early to rise, makes Hattie happy, healthy, and wise."

"Fuck that shit," I scoffed, my nose wrinkling in disgust at that very idea. "I’ll sleep when I want to, play when I want to... and there is no way I am waking up early by any stretch of the imagination, no matter how early I go to bed."

"I think you missed his point," murmured Luca as he whispered in my ear. "He just wants to get you into bed and is taking a high-handed approach to it."

Turning to Eric, I was surprised to see a slight blush coloring his cheeks as he refused to meet my eyes. "If that is the case," I said, not wanting to make him more embarrassed than he already was. "Next time just say ’nice shoes, wanna fuck?’ I understand straightforward more than you beating around the bush."

Walking away from Bishop, Dante picked me up out of Luca’s arms and flung me over his shoulder. "So I am learning," he grunted, walking toward the closest door that was still standing.

The rest of the building had collapsed around it, but the door and frame were still erect, like a fairy portal into another realm.

Never once breaking his stride, Dante turned the nob and walked through.

My house... our house... stood there, surrounded by the moat as Tink chirped and the raptors roared. Even Rexy poked his head out through the trees to welcome us back. The jungle, which was just hinted at inside the house, had taken over the outside like rash on a baby’s bottom. freeweɓnøvel.com

It was everywhere. Giant trees towered over the house, the heat and humidity coming out of it creating a natural fog over Tink’s moat. The entire thing was out of a horror movie, and I couldn’t have been happier.

"No bugs inside the house," I grunted, letting Dante carry me over the bridge. "I am not putting up with them inside. Who knows if they are housebroken or not?"

"I think they are smarter than that," chuckled Ronan as he followed close behind us. "They wouldn’t even come close to you at the Sanctuary, I don’t think you have to worry about them at home."

"Fine," I grunted, trying to brace my hands against Dante’s hips and ass as I looked at Ronan. "But just so you know, part of the reason why I am keeping you all is to kill the really big bugs. If I have to take out a single one of them on my own, then I will kick you to the curb."

"Duly noted," smiled Eric, holding up a can of the bug spray. "I can kill everything but spiders. I draw the line at spiders."

"That’s a stupid line to draw," I gasped, my eyes widening. In my head, bugs were the annoying winged things, like mosquitoes or houseflies, or those stupid things that cling to rotten fruit and multiply like crazy.

Spiders were more than welcome in my house.

"And yet, here we are," shrugged Eric as Tank opened the door to the house. A chirp from Tink made me smack Dante to let me down.

Being the smart man that he was, he let me down, and I walked over to where Tink was waiting for me on the banks of the moat.

"You called," I chuckled, crouching down and scratching the cutie between the eyes. "What’s up?"

Silently, deadly, a pure white head arose from the water, just behind Tink, like it was trying to check me out and determine just how much of a treat I was.

It took less than a second for me to fall head over heels for the albino gator as it slowly swam toward me. "Congrats, Tink," I murmured, giving him another good scratch. Your wife is absolutely stunning. What should we call her? I’m debating between Snowflake and Butch, but I’m not really sold on either one."

The white gator raised her delicate nose and slammed it down on the water, one time.

"Snowflake?" I said, raising an eyebrow. When she repeated the motion, I could only sigh. I kind of liked the idea of Tink and Butch, but the lady had spoken, and who was I to go against her?

"Welcome to the family," I smiled, reaching forward. I didn’t actually try to pet her. Being me, I didn’t like strangers touching me, so I tried to extend the same courtesy to others. Ever so slowly, like she was afraid that I was going to take a bit out of her, Snowflake raised her snout just enough to graze the underside of my palm.

"If you ever need anything, just let me know," I continued, not moving an inch. "Since you belong to Tink, you belong to me, and I always protect what is mine."
