Chapter 129: Shen Zhi

When Shen Lou woke up in the afternoon, he found himself lying on the bed. He frowned and looked around but no one was there. His mind was still a bit disoriented so he couldn’t remember what happened before he was sent here.

All he could feel at this moment was his head was aching slightly right now. Shen Lou forces himself to sit and lean his body on the headboard of the bed. What happened to him?

Fortunately after some minutes a nurse came and saw him awake.

"Classmate Shen, you are finally awake." the nurse greeted.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Don’t you remember?" The nurse went closer and looked at the monitor beside him. "You were sent here because you had a riot."

He was stunned. Riot?

"Fortunately, you had a milder riot so the doctors were quick to give you inhibitors to calm down. You just need to rest well so you can continue your training again, don’t worry." The nurse assured when she saw the young man’s face turn ugly. After all, who would want to have an attack especially after what happened the previous time?

Shen Lou sighs and nods. "Who brought me here?"

"It’s your friend Qin An."

Qin An? Shen Lou was stunned and that name seems to trigger the memories from earlier before he lost consciousness.

And when a figure of a large black cat flashed inside his mind, Shen Lou’s pupils dilated and he quickly raised himself to get out of the bed.

However, when he arrived Qin An was not inside.

"Where is he?" he asked but they also didn’t know. Shen Lou exhales a loud breath and quickly leaves the place to look for him.

He went to Qin An’s room but the young man was not there. Fortunately, someone happened to see Qin An and said he was on the balcony outside.

Shen Lou was fast to run towards the balcony but his feet subconsciously stopped when he was at the entrance of the balcony. It was unknown why but his heart suddenly beat loudly and a trace of heaviness flash inside him.

He subconsciously clenched his fist but took a step forward inside.

There, he saw the young sitting with his back on him and a large black cat on his side.

Seeing Black, Shen Lou exhales a relief and he walks towards them.

"Meow~" Black immediately noticed him and quickly strode towards him with his large golden pupils looking at him.

"The resentment on his body is no longer here." Qin An speaks and turns his head to him. "How did you solve it?"

How? Shen Lou’s jaw clenched when he remembered what he heard from the investigator earlier.

Shen Lou thought about the possible suspect last night but he couldn’t think about anyone. It’s not that no one disliked him in the past but that was when he was too young. Aside from that, killing a cat just to what? Shen Lou couldn’t think of any reason to implicate a cat because of him.

For hours waiting, he couldn’t sit still nor even concentrate on training. He was anxious to know the truth.

Thus when a staff member called him, he quickly went to the Director’s side to answer the call and what he heard next shocked him.

The one who did that to Black was an unexpected person he didn’t even think of as a possible suspect.

It was his sister’s Nanny Liu.

Shen Lou and his sister Shen Zhi weren’t actually close like other siblings. One is seven years older than him and the other one is their personality.

His sister is very rigid while he was more open when he was young. In the past, he could not bring Black because Shen Zhi is allergic, thus the two don’t even have connection to each other. That is why when he found out, he couldn’t even believe it.

Why did she do that? For Shen Zhi?

But Black did not do anything to them nor did his sister have a grudge towards him. Even if they are not close, their relationship was very civil and normal.

Shen Lou called his family and demanded Nanny Liu to explain clearly to him but the latter wouldn’t say anything. Shen Lou was even angrier when his Father forbade him to fire her because of Shen Zhi, saying that it was just in the past and only his pet.

It was the first time that they had a fight over this matter. Shen Lou’s mother died when she gave birth to him so it was only their Father who was there for them. He was strict but he also respected his decisions in life. Otherwise he wouldn’t agree that he will no longer learn mechas and switch to the entertainment industry wherein their family has no connection. Later, it was Shen Zhi who took over and joined their Father in the military so their relationship became even more distant because she was so busy.

Thus when he didn’t agree on firing her for Shen Zhi, Shen Lou became angry. His father clearly remembers how deep his grief he had when Black died. He saw him drown in guilt but he didn’t even agree!

"Shen Lou, stop thinking about that dead cat and get over this matter anymore." His father Shen Jietang scolded him but he was not reconciled.

"Black is not just a cat! He is mine! Besides, he didn’t even do wrong so why would she poison him!" Shen Lou shouted back and looked very unwilling, never backing down to his father’s glares on the virtual video call they are in now.

Shen Jietang rubbed his temples and looked at the Nanny who was kneeling in front of him. "Why don’t you give him a reason why you poisoned that cat?!"

Nanny Liu shook her head with anxiety. "M-Master, what happened was just an accident! I didn’t mean—"

"Accident?!" Shen Lou shouted. "Black was poisoned by something that killed him slowly. It was clearly planned and intentional! You are not allowed to deny it in front of me!"

Nanny Liu’s face turned pale. "M-Master, please don’t fire me! I have been the Young Lady’s Nanny ever since she was a child. I’ve taken care of her for too long and cannot live without her!"

"Then you shouldn’t do it!" Shen Lou didn’t care if that woman was his sister’s Nanny. Since she did something wrong, she must be held accountable!

"Let’s just wait for your sister, okay?" Shen Jietang wanted to put a condition on him. He was about to say no when the study’s door opened and a woman who was wearing a military uniform entered the room.

That woman’s posture is straight and sharp. Her eyebrows were somewhat the same as Shen Lou who has an arrogance between their brows for being outstanding ever since. However, if Shen Lou’s temperament is because he grew as a young master, the woman’s temperament is more refined and cold from the real blood and war she had faced.

It was Shen Zhi herself.

The latter walk on their Father’s side and she performs a military salute before she looks down at Nanny Liu.

Nanny Liu immediately puts up a crying face and looks pleadingly at her. Shen Lou clenches his fist. For sure she will side her Nanny—

"You can fire her."
