Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Black’s Farewell
Chapter 130: Black’s Farewell
The other three people inside the room were shocked by her words.
Fire her? She actually agreed?!
As both Shen Jietang and Shen Lou were shocked, it was Nanny Liu who first came back to her senses and looked at the woman she took care for all her life in disbelief.
"Y-Young Lady?!" Nanny Liu called Shen Zhi but she looked away and her gaze went to Shen Lou. "You can do whatever you want, there’s no need to go through me."
"B-But Young Lady!" Nanny Liu couldn’t care that she was in front of her employers anymore and stood up to face Shen Zhi.
"I-I took care of you! I did everything for you! Why would you fire me for just a mere cat?!"
Shen Zhi’s cold eyes look at her flatly. "Did I ask you to do it?!"
"But I just did it for you!"
Shen Zhi frowns and a trace of impatience flashes in her eyes.
"Then secretly bullying my former classmates when I was young, firing new maids just because they are getting close to me, and many more, you did that for me? Do I need those?"
"!!!" Nanny Liu’s face turned pale, her hands shaking when her ’crimes’ were listed one by one in front of her from the child she treated as a daughter. Hot tears fell down on her face even more and she tried to step forward to touch Shen Zhi but could not when she noticed the coldness of the woman’s face.
Shen Zhi’s eyes looking at her were very unfamiliar and cold as if she wasn’t the one who took care of her and stood like a mother.
Shen Jietang exhales a loud breath and looks at Nanny Liu.
"Okay, since A’Zhi already decided, you can go now. The Housekeeper will pay for what you’ve done for my daughter."
Then he looks at Shen Lou. "Don’t mention this matter anymore. Just do it for your sister, okay?"
Shen Lou pursues his lips and looks at Shen Zhi but the latter doesn’t look back at him anymore. After saluting to Shen Jietang, she leaves the room without even caring for the howling Nanny.
...
"That happened." Shen Lou told Qin An about the story. "I didn’t know what happened to her Nanny but I’m sure that since it was our family who fired her, her life wouldn’t be like how she used to be."
Qin An nodded and looked at Black. "Then, are you ready to say goodbye?"
"..." Shen Lou didn’t want to answer. Is he ready? He doesn’t know.
It’s been 18 years since he saw Black and all he had thought was it’s because of his mistake. The last memories he had were not good and thus he never opened it up again after several years until now.
Shen Lou certainly misses him. He was his first and last pet. They had good memories together and he doesn’t want another goodbye again.
However, Qin An said, it is not right to let a soul stay in this world anymore.
"Will Black be okay?" He asked after a minute of silence.
Qin An nods. "I can guarantee that he’ll be alright for his next life. He’s been good."
"..."
Shen Lou looked at the cat and once again fell into silence. Qin An didn’t disturb him and motioned Black to come closer. He conjures a spiritual energy on his hand and gently traces it to the cat’s body.
"Meow~" Black purred in delight and rubbed himself onto him. The traces of his death disappeared and his furr became light and shiny, looking as if a real and healthy cat in front of them.
"He’s ready." Qin An said.
Shen Lou pursues his lips but eventually slowly nods.
Black was ready 18 years ago. It was just him that waited as always.
Shen Lou wanted to touch Black but remembers that he couldn’t so he could only squat in front of him and look at its golden vertical pupils.
"Live a good life, Black. I hope you’ll find the owner who’ll take care of you."
"Meow~" Black responded softly. Shen Lou stares at the cat for some minutes before he stands and nods at Qin An.
"It’s okay now."
Qin An’s eyes flash with the hidden golden runes and he whispers the key of the gate. A white light appeared on his hand and it softly landed on Black.
Then, a white magic circle appears underneath Black and it lightens up before the figure of the cats gradually disappears together with the magic circle.
"..."
Silence was left after this scene happened.
Shen Lou sighs and sits on the bench, looking at the environment quietly. Qin An also sat beside him and another silence once again passed.
"... Will this happen again?" Shen Lou broke the silence and asked Qin An.
"What do you mean?" Qin An asks back.
"Will you send all the souls too?"
Qin An nod. "Yes. This is what a grim reaper has to do."
"Then have you sent someone you knew?"
Qin An pause at the question. "Someone I knew?"
"Yeah. Since you are a grim reaper, you’ve sent countless souls to the Hall for what fate they’ll face. Have you also sent someone you knew?"
Qin An didn’t answer so Shen Lou continued. "If you have someone you know, will it be hard for you to send them personally? That could mean a goodbye, right? For us humans, it’s actually normal to have someone we know die. That’s our life and the end of our fate as a living person. After that, we could only wish for their next life and try to move forward. But what about you?"
Shen Lou looks at Qin An. "You never die and could only watch them leave one by one. Qin An, you’ve said a person can have an endless life because that is the cycle. Death, rebirth, death and rebirth again. Will you know them if you meet them again in their next life?"
"I don’t know—" Qin An was about to answer that he didn’t know because he never had someone he personally knows anyway. He always treats everyone as just some passerby’s in his life so he’s sure that maybe even if he knew them, he would not care.
Yet he cuts his own words when a vague figure of someone flashes inside his mind.
He’s clear that he really didn’t know who it was but just by that someone passed on his mind made him stop. It was very blurry and more than vague in his memory.
He cannot even see the face nor even know anything.
But when Shen Lou asked if he already sent someone he knew, why did he think of that?
