Chapter 49: Maximilian VS. Photon Fury - Final

While raining down punches on the helpless Photon Fury, the terrifying voice from Maximilian’s helmet modulator spoke:

"I’m betting on your nature, Photon Fury... I’m betting that you’re a bitch! A bitch who doesn’t care about anyone but herself! That’s your true nature! Now, prove me wrong!"

He intensified the attack, raining down punches without stopping. The battery in his armor was an experimental model, designed based on alien technology. It could last for more than 120 hours under high-intensity use, such as this.

With each zap of high-voltage electricity, Photon Fury started to feel more and more numb. Her brain—the core of her ability to control her power—began to lose consciousness from the repeated shocks. This crucial fact didn’t register in Photon Fury’s mind at all, because she believed she was naturally strong and didn’t need any training.

That was why she never consulted anyone about the nature of her powers or how they truly worked. And because Photon Fury had refused to cooperate with the IHB for proper training, Maximilian—who had stolen data from the IHB data center—also didn’t know about this critical weakness.

As more punches landed, her face became battered—bruises covering her skin, her nose and mouth bloodied, and a few teeth broken. She no longer had the glamorous look of a hero.

Photon Fury, filled with frustration, anger, and now fear of death, found her injuries mounting. Combined with the repeated electrical shocks numbing her brain, her control finally snapped.

"Arrrrrrrrrrggghhhh!"

With a scream filled with frustration and rage, Photon Power exploded outward from her body. The heat instantly vaporized the surroundings and blasted Maximilian off her.

BOOOOOOOOM!

Her power burst outward, destroying the entire building and killing anything inside. Heat radiated from the epicenter. Only the strongest parts of the structure, like the main pillars and basement, survived the fallout.

Photon Fury quickly stood up, looking around at the ruined building—and the dead bodies strewn among the rubble. All the light nodes had vanished.

"No! ...No, those children! Nooooo!" the hero screamed.

Because she had lost control of her emotions—and succumbed to the primal fear of death—she had unleashed her full power without restraint... and lost everything.

"So... you really are a bitch, huh... never thought you’d prove me right," said the modulated voice, as the man in the black armor approached her, his suit clearly scorched and burned.

[Max! You idiot! That was close! If I didn’t absorb the energy she projected, you would’ve been vaporized!] Aetherna immediately scolded her reckless lover through their link.

{Yeah... that’ll teach me not to provoke a bitch like her...} Maximilian replied, a hint of disappointment in his voice.

[What did you expect, MAX? She’s the same type of bitch who got you isekai-ed in the first place.]

{No... the thing that "isekai-ed" me was the stab to the stomach. She just left me to die.}

[Are you angry at her? I mean, the bitch who left you to die.] Aetherna asked curiously.

{Angry? No... In contrast, I should thank her.} Maximilian answered. {Because of her, I finally met you again.}

He paused for a moment, then added with a somber tone,

{The only regret I have... is about my little girl and my parents. I wonder how they’ll react to my death... To be honest, the last time I checked, my mom and dad’s health wasn’t great. I don’t think they can manage the cattle ranch much longer.}

"You... YOU! YOUUUUUUUU!! YOU KILLED THEM!!"

An enraged scream broke the conversation between Maximilian and Aetherna.

A large, powerful photon beam came hurtling toward him. Maximilian stared into the light of the red, supercharged photon beam. Calmly, he raised his hand toward it, as if trying to stop it. The moment the photon beam touched his armored glove, it was quickly absorbed.

[Ding! You gained 1 Energy Block!]

[Ding! You gained 1 Energy Block!]

[Ding! You gained 1 Energy Block!]

[Ding! You gained 1 Energy Block!]

The system notifications rang repeatedly as the energy from the photon beam continued to be absorbed by the system.

[Ohhhh, a treasure girl! Come on! More! Give me more! ψ(`∇´)ψ]

Aetherna grew more and more excited as the energy counter continued to climb.

After a full 15 seconds, the beam finally stopped, and a net total of 15 Energy Blocks had been stored in the system.

After the powerful photon beam subsided, Photon Fury stood panting, exhausted from unleashing her most powerful beam without restraint. Then her face twisted in horror—the target of her hatred was still standing there... unharmed.

"Impossible..." she uttered in disbelief, stepping back instinctively.

"Nothing... is impossible," the terrifying modulated voice said as Maximilian walked toward her.

"No! Don’t come any closer!" Photon Fury broke down and was about to channel her Photon Energy again to defend herself—but Maximilian was faster.

He quickly closed the distance and delivered a punch to her ribs, cracking them with precisely adjusted force to cause only hairline fractures.

"Arrrggghhh!" Photon Fury cried out in agony.

Maximilian then swept her legs, making her lose her balance once again before stomping hard on her shin.

Crack!

"Arrrrrrggghhh!"

Another crack, another scream. Maximilian had adjusted the force precisely to break her leg without destroying it completely. With her ribs and leg cracked, he then dislocated her jaw and plunged his hand into her mouth.

{Ather... drain her to the last drop.} Maximilian instructed Aetherna through their mental link.

[Ok! (๑´ڡ`๑)]

"Arrrrrrrrrgggghhhhh!"

Photon Fury screamed helplessly as her Photon Power was drained from her body, flowing uncontrollably.

Her mind wandered back to the day she had a meeting with Strauss.

"If it were me, I’d feed him my energy until he bursts! You all know what I’m capable of."

That was the sentence she had proudly told him...

How naive she had been. If only she had known what kind of monster this guy truly was!

Not only could he devour her power... at thsi rate he could devour the energy of an entire city if he wanted to!

Bang!

A gunshot rang out, the bullet aiming for a joint in Maximilian’s armor.

But Maximilian swiftly adjusted his stance, and the bullet harmlessly deflected off his armor.

He turned to see the source of the gunfire—it was Oldcowboy, standing firm with his gun drawn.

"Release her, boy. You’ve crossed the line here..."

Oldcowboy said in his usual southern drawl.

[Done! Thanks for the meal! (๑´ڡ`๑)]
