Help! I Became A Guy In A BL Novel!-Chapter 136: Only Friend
Chapter 136: Only Friend
"I... I want to see a healer," Riven said, his tone calm but laced with something unreadable. "The one I saw last time. Eli. Can you... Call for him?"
Ronan paused, mid-movement. His eyes narrowed slightly, concern washing over his face. "Are you feeling unwell?" He stepped closer. "Did something happen?" freёweɓnovel.com
"No, no." Riven shook his head quickly, too quickly. "I’m fine. Really." He even added a tiny smile. "It’s nothing serious. Just... A private issue." He was hoping Ronan would stop if he said this.
Ronan didn’t look entirely convinced. His brows furrowed as he crouched in front of Riven, searching his face. "Are you sure? You’re not hurt?"
"I’m sure," Riven nodded again, more firmly this time. "Please don’t worry. I just need to ask him something. That’s all."
Ronan seemed a little bothered that Riven could not tell him, mostly because he thought they were closer now and more with each other.
Riven pouted, "Ronan, I am an omega that can get pregnant, there are some things that are none of your business. And it’s between me and the physician who is treating me."
Ronan quickly seemed to understand when Riven put it that way. He did not take offence, he nodded and assured Riven.
"Alright. I’ll send for Eli right away."
Riven gave him a grateful look, shoulders relaxing slightly. Ronan didn’t ask any more questions. He just walked to the door, murmured instructions to a guard, and returned to sit beside Riven, wordlessly offering quiet company until the healer arrived.
The room was quiet, wrapped in the gentle hush of late morning sunlight. Riven lay comfortably on the bed, head nestled on Ronan’s lap, soft breaths brushing against the Alpha’s stomach. His hair spread out on his lap, like ropes wrapping around his thighs.
His ears would twitch occasionally as Ronan caressed them.
One hand trailed through the silken strands of Riven’s hair, while the other stroked along the soft edges of his ears.
Riven purred—an involuntary, pleased sound escaping from deep within his chest. This was... Nice. He felt like he was a cat more than a wolf, correction, half-wolf.
Ronan, ever the stoic Alpha, seemed entirely focused on him. There was no usual command in his presence, no quiet authority weighing down the air. Only tenderness. His fingers brushed slowly through Riven’s hair. It was then that a thought crossed Riven’s mind.
He was the one who topped Ronan, so shouldn’t he be the one doing the aftercare? Instead, he was the one being spoiled.
When Riven shifted slightly, seeking a better position, Ronan adjusted without a word, his other hand coming up to cradle the back of his head in a silent promise of comfort.
"I should be the one doing this," Riven mumbled without opening his eyes, voice drowsy with contentment.
"Does it matter?" Ronan asked in a husky voice.
Riven nodded but did not change his position. He kept rubbing himself on Ronan and got comfortable.
A small smile tugged at Riven’s lips. He let himself relax further, allowing the weight of exhaustion to pull him down. The warmth from Ronan’s lap, the soothing strokes through his hair—it was all he needed right now.
Then came a soft knock at the door.
Ronan didn’t move immediately. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Riven’s forehead, lingering for just a heartbeat longer than necessary. "The healer’s here. I need to head to the study."
Riven peeked one eye open and gave a tiny nod. "Okay. Don’t stay gone too long."
"I won’t," Ronan said, his voice lower, softer than usual. He gently lifted Riven’s head, placed a pillow beneath it, and stood. With one last glance at the omega curled peacefully on his bed, Ronan turned and left, the door clicking quietly behind him.
Outside, Eli waited patiently. As soon as Ronan passed him, the young healer turned to the door, checking once more down the hallway. When he was sure it was clear, he slipped into the room and closed the door behind him.
His eyes fell on Riven, lying among the dishevelled sheets, his ears twitching sleepily, his expression soft. For a moment, Eli just stared. His throat tightened, his breath hitched, and then—without a second thought—he dashed forward.
"Riven!" he cried out in a whisper, arms wrapping tightly around the other’s shoulders. "I was so worried for you!"
The impact of the hug made Riven jolt slightly in surprise, but he relaxed the moment he recognised the soft, familiar scent of herbs and warmth.
"Eli?" he murmured, blinking up at the bunny shifter, who was already sniffling, tears pooling in his big eyes.
"I thought—I thought something happened to you! No one told me anything, and then I heard rumours and—" Eli hiccuped, pressing his cheek to Riven’s shoulder.
"But now I’m back! Mostly for you!" Riven comforted Eli by patting his back. Eli was a bunny shifter, and they are known for being more animalistic, so the slightest of emotional fluctuations can cause their animal features to pop out. And just like he thought, he saw Eli’s white bunny ears.
Eli sniffed, "For- For me?" He leaned back to meet Riven’s eyes as he searched for answers.
"Of course! You’re like my only friend here! I missed you so much!" Riven did not like Eli pulling away from the hug, so he quickly pulled him back in. His hand rubbed Eli’s head in an effort to ’comfort him’, but he really wanted to touch those ears of his.
Eli quickly flinched and wanted to back away, but Riven held him close, "Your ears are so soft."
A beautiful pink blush crept up on his face. He could barely breathe, much less answer.
The bunny’s ears twitched slightly at the compliment, and a pink hue dusted his cheeks. "That’s... I’m glad you’re safe."
The quiet between them was peaceful. Eli gently ran his fingers over Riven’s arm, checking for tension or any signs of stress, then leaned back with a relieved sigh. He was still doing his work as a healer and assessing Riven.
