Chapter 137: Jealousy? Jealousy.

Riven, still rubbing Eli’s ears shamelessly, asked, "So, how often do you ears pop out."

Eli blinked. "What?"

"Your ears," Riven said, gesturing vaguely. "They are every soft to touch, look at them twitching so cutely."

"They were not," Eli said quickly, looking embarrassed. His hands went up to press his long bunny ears down as if to hide them. "They do that on their own. I can’t control it."

Riven chuckled, eyes gleaming with amusement. "Cute."

Eli swatted at his arm. "Don’t tease. Ears are the most sensitive part for bunnies."

Riven leaned in slightly, expression suddenly conspiratorial. "I can relate. My ears are sensitive too."

Eli gave him a look. "Really?"

"Mm-hm," Riven said, nodding with exaggerated seriousness. "Wanna touch?"

Eli’s face turned red in an instant, ears springing up high.

"D-Do you just let anyone touch your ears?" he asked, clearly flustered.

"No," Riven said smoothly, voice dropping just a little. "Only the ones I’m close to."

The words hung in the air. Eli’s blush deepened, spreading down to the tip of his nose. He hesitated, eyes flicking between Riven’s calm face and his fluffy white ears, before slowly reaching out a hand.

"Just once," he mumbled.

He could barely get close to wolves, he was a servant for this clan after all. But now he could actually touch a wolf’s ear, how exciting!

Riven tilted his head slightly, making it easier. Eli’s fingers brushed over the soft fur, careful, this was something he could see but never touch... However, now he could!

The texture was impossibly smooth and warm, and Eli found himself tracing the edges gently, fingers moving along the curve as if memorising it.

He didn’t say anything, but inside, his heart was gushing.

They’re so soft... oh no, they’re even softer than mine...

Riven, meanwhile, was fighting to keep his smirk at bay. He had to bite the inside of his cheek to stop from grinning. His seduction technique was working beautifully. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

Eli was too adorable. Too easy to fluster. And clearly already fond of him.

After a few more moments of careful touching, Eli blinked, realisation crashing into him.

"Oh no—I’m supposed to be treating you!"

He pulled his hand back so fast it made Riven laugh. Eli turned red again, patting his cheeks like he could physically push the colour down.

"I’m such an idiot," he muttered. "I- I completely forgot."

"It’s fine," Riven said, voice still laced with amusement. "You can keep touching them if you want."

Eli narrowed his eyes and folded his arms. "Stop distracting me. I’m here as a healer."

"Right, right," Riven said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "So, Doctor Eli, what would you like to know?"

Eli cleared his throat, composing himself. "First of all... How are you feeling?"

Riven stretched, arms above his head, then let them drop as he sighed. "Honestly? I feel great."

Eli blinked his beautiful pink eyes. "Great? No aches? No fatigue? No soreness?"

"Nope."

Eli tilted his head, confused. His ears drooped slightly as he reached forward to check Riven’s pulse again, just in case. But it was steady. Warm. Healthy.

"Wait..." He said slowly, brow furrowing. "If you’re feeling fine, then... Why was I called here?"

He looked up at Riven with wide, innocent eyes, confusion painting his features. "Did something happen I don’t know about?"

Riven smiled at him—soft and calm, not teasing this time.

"No," he said quietly. "I just wanted to talk to you."

Eli froze. His mouth opened slightly, but nothing came out. He could not catch a break, his blood ran to his face, and he was red as a tomato. "O- Oh..."

Riven nodded. "I was thinking about you earlier. About how I haven’t seen you since the last time you patched me up."

"I heard that you were missing... I was very worried about you." Eli admitted. He was fidgeting with his fingers and tried not to look at Riven.

"Ah, so that was what they told everyone," Riven whispered to himself and tilted his head. They kept his running away a secret. For better or worse, he decided to go with it.

"Hmm?" Eli did not hear what Riven said. One look at his face and the bunny could tell Riven was feeling troubled.

"No, nothing. Since I am back, I look forward to spending time with you. I do need to ask you one thing, though." Riven’s tone was light but also serious."

Eli quickly nodded, "Go ahead, I will try my best to answer your questions."

Riven smiled at his sincerity, he truly was the best bunny!

"What happened to Raphael?" Riven asked, his gaze never leaving Eli’s. He was trying to figure out what happened.

"Oh! Um, Raphael was imprisoned for treason but released, and as compensation, he got a title from the Alpha! It was a big deal! Everyone was so surprised," Eli was now overthinking things. Riven went missing, and Raphael was sent to the dungeons. Could those two things be connected?

He thought he was overthinking things, but the smart bunny was drawing the right conclusion.

The silence that followed wasn’t awkward—just full. Eli sat back again, still watching Riven with those wide pink eyes. His heart was beating faster than usual, but not out of panic. Riven wasn’t like the others. He was bold, a little flirty, but never crossed a line. And now... He wanted to see him, not for treatment, but just to talk.

It made him feel special.

"Why do you ask?" Eli carefully probed.

"Oh, no reason. Raphael is my friend. I am happy that he is safe." Riven smiled and held Eli’s warm hands. Eli’s hands were smaller and fit perfectly in his.

"Oh... I see." Did Eli feel jealous? If so? How could he make sense of it? Why was he feeling jealous? Riven was a charming young wolf, of course, he had many friends. Eli looked at the ground, unable to decide how to act.
