Hero Hack: Reversing Heroes and Raising Harem-Chapter 101: The Wolf Got Ghosted
Chapter 101: The Wolf Got Ghosted
The wolfman stood alone in the shattered battlefield.
Blood still stained the ground.
Poison mist still clung to the air.
But Zain was gone.
The mirror’s shimmer had faded.
The echo of his mocking voice still rang in the wolfman’s ears.
"Bye-bye."
The beast growled low.
Claws clenching until blood leaked from his palms.
"That demon..."
His breath came faster.
"I swear..."
He looked at the spot where Zain had stood last.
"I swear I’ll rip his throat out the next time I see him."
He turned, walking back toward where Gurrak’s body had fallen.
But when he reached the spot...
Nothing.
No body or even blood.
His eyes widened.
"...What?"
He rushed to the other locations.
Where Gozmak had died—gone.
Where Droven had been cut down—also gone.
All three corpses... vanished.
The wolfman’s jaw clenched.
His claws scraped across a rusted steel beam.
"DAMN YOU!"
His howl echoed through the ruins, shaking stone and ash.
"Damn you, Heavenly Demon!"
He slammed his claw into the ground.
"You think this is over?"
"You think stealing corpses and fleeing makes you strong?"
His voice dropped to a growl.
"You’re just a coward hiding behind tricks."
"But next time... you won’t run."
His eyes burned with hatred.
"I’ll tear you apart, Heavenly Demon."
And with that vow, he disappeared into the shadows.
Meanwhile, Zain just stepped out from the mirror.
His body swayed as he took a few steps.
Then he dropped to his knees, still holding Velra in his arms.
"Damn..."
He breathed out, chest rising and falling hard.
"That wolfman is really strong..."
He set Velra down on the side.
Sweat glistened on his brow as he leaned back.
"He wasn’t just wild... that strength..."
Zain muttered to himself, frowning.
"No doubt about it—AA-Rank."
"And he wasn’t even trying to kill me yet."
He tilted his head and smirked.
"Would’ve been bad if I stayed longer."
Suddenly, the system screen appeared before him.

Zain let out a low whistle.
"In the middle of all that, I still managed to absorb them..."
He muttered with a smirk.
"Nice."
He laughed under his breath, his voice hoarse but satisfied.
"Oh man," he said, grinning wide.
"I wish I could’ve seen his face when he turned around and saw Gurrak’s body gone..."
Zain leaned forward again.
"Serves him right."
"You don’t get to chase me and walk away with anything."
He closed his eyes for a second.
"And next time? I’ll be ready for round two."
A soft groan beside him then made him turn.
Velra shifted slightly.
Her eyes slowly opened.
"Mmnh..."
Zain looked down and gave a small smirk.
"You’re awake."
Velra blinked a few times, then tried to sit up.
"Barely."
"I’m just tired... and a few injuries here and there."
Zain tilted his head. "Small ones?"
She nodded slowly.
"Mostly bruises. I think one rib might be cracked though."
"Hold on," Zain said.
He raised his hand and opened the system interface.

Velra’s body began to heal.
She then let out a sigh.
"That’s... better than any healer I’ve ever known."
Zain grinned. "There. Good as new."
Velra flexed one leg, then stood up, nodding.
"Thank you, Master."
"Always."
Then she frowned slightly.
She was looking around at the unfamiliar place.
"But why are we here?"
Zain’s expression shifted.
He looked toward the mirror they had stepped out of.
"There was... an uninvited guest."
Velra’s eyes narrowed. "Guest?"
Zain chuckled, resting his arm over his raised knee.
"Just some person that had some unfinished business with me."
Velra froze. "He was here?"
Zain nodded slowly.
"Saw everything."
"Showed up right when I was about to take you home."
Her fists clenched. "If I had been awake—"
Zain raised a hand calmly. "Relax."
He met her eyes, smirked.
"I made sure he didn’t get anything."
"Just empty air and a trail of blood."
Velra exhaled, still tense.
"You don’t need to worry about him," Zain said.
"I’ll deal with him next time."
He stood up and dusted off his coat.
"For now, you’ve got your own mission."
Velra looked at him, confused. "Mission?"
Zain smiled. "Your work."
"The next cleanup."
"There are still people out there who remember the old you."
Velra straightened. "Then I’ll erase them."
Zain placed a hand on her shoulder.
"That’s my Velvet Demon."
She smirked.
"Yes, Master."
She turned to leave, but Zain’s voice stopped her mid-step.
"Velra."
She looked back.
"Don’t forget to wear a mask."
"You may be stronger now, but you’re also a target."
"No one needs to know you belong to me."
Velra nodded with a small smile.
"Understood."
"I’ll make sure the only thing they see... is fear."
"Good," Zain said.
"You’ll be unstoppable, but invisible."
Velra bowed slightly, then vanished into the alley shadows.
Zain stood alone for a moment.
Then he looked down at the cloth-wrapped item by his side.
He crouched and untied the cloth.
Karven’s severed head was still preserved cleanly.
Zain stared at it for a moment, then gave a lopsided grin.
"You were loud. Proud. Thought you could tame her."
He rewrapped it calmly, slinging the bag over his shoulder.
"Well, now you’re just a receipt."
He stood, stretching his back.
"Time to turn you in and finish my upgrade."
Without another word, Zain stepped toward the mirror.
He smirked. "Let’s wrap this up."
He stepped through.
He moved around the mirrors and finally arrived.
He stepped out from the mirror near the hero association.
Zain adjusted his coat and walked forward, head held high.
"It’s time to finish my hunting mission..."
He grinned wider.
"...and claim my spot as an A-Rank hero."
He passed the main gate, nodding at the armed staff.
"Permanent resident of BB-1, huh?"
"Let’s make it official."
