Chapter 171: The Date

Arlen took a small step toward him, "Aren’t you going to compliment me too?" His voice was low, like decadent chocolate over soft ice cream. It poured into his ears as smoothly as top-shelf whiskey. Sweet and seductive.

The voice went straight to his groin. Ravi slightly parted his lips. No words came out the first time. He swallowed and tried again, "Watching, they are watching." Ravi could clearly feel the three presence next to the window.

"What are you thinking about? I just asked you to compliment me?" Arlen asked, raising an eyebrow mischievously.

He was teasing him. Always teasing him. Ravi wondered if Arlen could take what he so loved to dish.

"That expression in your eyes, Why am I suddenly scared? Here for you." It was a beautiful red tulip and Ravi looked at him, the scheming look replaced by something akin to surprise.

"It is beautiful, thank you." Ravi took it and took a deep sniff, the spicy, aromatic scent reminded him a little of honey.

"I forgot to ask if you liked flowers." Arlen looked a little embarrassed and ruffled his beautifully styled hair.

Ravi smiled and inhaled the scent one more time, "I like them now. Thanks." He gave him a peck and there was a whistle behind the window.

Arlen chuckled, "And this is for Asher and his friends. They will be watching him tonight?"

Ravi nodded, and took the bag. It was a large bucket of ice cream, two flavors, chocolate and banana ice cream. There was also a monopoly board, a pack of cards, and two teen fantasies.

"Is it okay?"

Ravi looked at him. It was like he was in a trance, he moved closer and pressed his lips on Arlen’s. It was a kiss quite unlike the ones they had before. It was much quieter, more natural, almost instinctive, and gentle.

Arlen froze slightly before closing his eyes.

When Ravi pulled away and looked at him, he could feel his heart speeding up, throbbing against his rib cage.

He wanted to pull him closer and kiss him senseless but he could see the people at the window. The cold lady who had not spared him a single glance was now covering Ravi’s ward’s eyes with both hands while staring at them. The red-haired teenager who had said that he would bury him also had his face against the window glass.

"It is okay. Thank you for this." Ravi returned to put the flower in a small vase and then gave the package to Lana.

Sage wriggled his eyebrows and Ravi rolled his eyes.

"Don’t stay up late, Ash. See you soon."

Asher nodded, already reaching for the books to flip. Seeing that Ravi was still looking at him, he looked at him, "I am fine, really. Have a nice date."

"Look at you, so mature." Ravi teased him, just a day and he had already picked up on Arlen’s bad habits.

"Have fun. No horror movies, Lana." He said to Lana who was leaning on the wall.

"They are science movies." Lana quickly retorted.

"They gave Ash nightmares."

"That is not true."

Hearing the animated voices, Ravi closed the door behind him and took the hand that Asher offered him.

"Have you moved from crime shows to historical series? What next, would you tip your hat?"

Arlen chuckled as the two of them left the gate, Ravi stopped when he saw the car, and he raised an eyebrow, "Did you borrow the car from Kora?"

"Hey! Mine is more sleek than hers." Arlen complained as he opened the car, "I have been thinking that I should get a car, although the police car is nice and all, it is not my type."

"Ravi entered the car, the car smelled brand new, and the soft leather seat beneath his bum told him that this car was in no way cheap, "So, you are rich." He concluded after looking around.

"Who said I did not take out a car?"

"For this kind of car, I would like to believe my boyfriend is smart."

Arlen did not turn the ignition but turned to him, "Say it again." He drawled, his blue eyes so excited that it made Ravi chuckle.

"My boyfriend."

"Again." Those eyes were almost dark when they looked at him, it was as if they were hungry.

"Drive." While he did not mind the two of them christening this new car, Ravi had never been on a date before. He was looking forward to it a little too much. His lips stretched into a smile and he sneaked a look at Arlen.

It was a good thing that he was also attracted to his body. He looked at the strong arm that was driving the car and swallowed, the feeling was entirely mutual. His ears felt hot as he looked away, coughing slightly.

Arlen looked at him and chuckled.

"You can look all you want. I am yours to look at."

"Just drive," Ravi mumbled to himself, pretending to sleep, causing Arlen to laugh even more.

Ravi’s eyes widened when they drove past the ’Welcome to Davenport’ sign and he looked at Arlen.

"The restaurant is at Walden, the district is at the entrance of Alstria, just a five-minute drive from Davenport. It has the best reviews in the area."

Ravi nodded and sat up to look around, not that there was much to see with the swift passage of the trees as their car zoomed off.

The moment they reached the restaurant, Ravi could understand why they had spent 20 minutes on the road to get there. It looked very beautiful. They had a reservation and they were taken outside to a small clearing, with warm lights, and red roses, it looked so beautiful.

Ravi looked around, "Wow!"

"You like it!"

Ravi nodded, "You went all out, Arlen. You did not have to."

Arlen reached out to hold his hand, "This is our first date, Ravi. I wanted it to be special. I was not sure what you liked and this place offers a bit of everything so I..."

"Thank you, It is wonderful."

"Really?"

"En. The food though, we just have to see."

Arlen leaned forward, "Okay. If the date is 50% and above, I get to choose the next day."

Ravi raised a perfect eyebrow, "You want me to grade you? Do you have a cousin named Lana?"

"No, why?"

Ravi then told him about the bodyguard assessment, and how Lana did not let go until she received her score.

The two of them laughed, they both perused the menus in silence until their waiters appeared a few minutes later with two with a carafe of mint-flavored still water.

"We would like a bottle of 1897 domaine de Chevalier Blanc. Ravi, ready to order."

Ravi nodded, "Heirloom tomato salad with burrata cheese, basil oil, and balsamic glaze." Ravi replied for his starter and took another glance at the menu for his main course, "Pan-seared halibut with lemon-dill sauce and micro greens."

"How about a desert?" The waiter asked.

"I would have a dark chocolate lava cake with salted caramel gelato and caramelized hazelnuts."

"Wonderful choice, Sir." The waiter smiled and then turned to Alrn who snapped his menu shut.

"I will have everything he is having. Thank you."

The meal soon arrived and Arlen like usual seemed thoroughly enamored with his meal.

He loved the way he ate, like every meal was the most delicious that he had ever eaten. If one should ask him what he liked most about Arlen, perhaps it would be the way he loved and lived life.

He drank a little wine and looked at him.

"While I enjoy your appreciative gaze? If you don’t eat, how would I get my high score?"

"So you are expecting a high score." Ravi asked with an arched eyebrow, thoroughly entertained by his logic, "That confident."

"No, just hopeful." Arlen purposefully lowered his voice to a seductive whisper and held Ravi’s gaze.

Until the other hurriedly broke eye contact and ate a bit of his food, gritting his teeth and biding his time. After watching that move on the television, he had filed it in his head to be brought out for a moment.

They ate while conversing. It was mostly Arlen talking and Lisa just listening. He was a good storyteller, providing vivid descriptions of moments he had when growing up and making Ravi laugh.

"What were you thinking?"

"It was Lego. I did not think it would be that expensive."

Ravi moved closer, his hazel eyes bright with laughter, "So, what happened? Did you tell your mother?"

Arlen shook his head, "My mother, she would have killed me. I told my Papa, Anouk’s biological father. He is the complete opposite of him. He paid for the Legos."

Rvi smiled, he could just imagine Arelen in front of his house with a ten thousand Lego packages, counting the coins in his piggy bank while the pay-on-delivery officer waited for him. Thinking about it again, he chuckled again.

The desert soon came and Ravi smiled, he reached for the desert spoon and his lips gently closed around the spoon, "So good." A low moan erupted from deep in his throat. He then looked up at Arlen and smiled.
