Chapter 1173: Bringing home the jackpot

"Look at her eyes! They’re in the shape of the heart!"

"Not just that, but she’s glowing in color pink. I can almost see some petals floating around her it makes me sneeze."

Tiger opened and closed his mouth, unable to refute their claims. He rested his hands on his hips, looking at Hera with displeasure. Hera was looking at them, smiling, but it was obvious her mind was somewhere else. She wasn’t mentally with them.

"Hera," he called before he reached out to her. But alas, the second his hand crossed her personal space, Hera swiftly grabbed his wrist and skillfully twisted it to his back. "Shit!"

"Real shit." Primo nodded while Moose blurted out, "She’s on auto-pilot."

Hera slowly fluttered her eyes, and the drifting presence in her eyes was replaced with awareness. The corner of her lips curled up, finally noticing Primo and Moose. However, she ignored them as she glanced at Tiger.

"Oops." Hera carefully released Tiger and backed away. "Sorry, but you can’t steal my husband from me."

"Who said I’m trying to steal him?" Tiger hissed, moving his wrist in a circular motion. "I’m trying to shake you back to your senses. Thought you were sleepwalking."

"Oh, yeah, I was." Hera casually pointed at her earpiece while saying, "My husband’s breath is so dreamy I couldn’t help but enter our dreamland, where we are together."

"Are you saying he is boring, and he makes you sleepy?" Primo blurted out, earning a quick glare from her.

"Wait. Are you saying Dominic is in the line?" Moose asked, which should be the most important question. "How?"

Hera smiled at him and then marched to Moose. When she was a step from him, he backed away, but she already grabbed his shoulders.

"Moose, you are a freaking genius, do you know that?" Hera patted his shoulders while nodding. "If you didn’t become an assassin, Doctor Strange would beg you to be your lackey."

"???"

Hera looked at the man with nothing but pride. "I’m so proud of you. You’re the man."

Her remarks not only threw Moose in a river of question marks, but Primo and Tiger as well. They looked at her in dismay and horror. Hera was acting like a proud mother and it was totally weird.

"Very well." Hera clapped her hands. "Weigh the money and ask Tiger for the details. I mean, Tiger will surely call everyone about our discovery, so give him a moment of your time before you go."

"As for me, I’m going on a date!" Her mouth stretched from ear to ear before skipping her steps away. "Darling, where do you want to go? Do you want to know what my garden looks like? Or should I fly over there to show you what’s even more beautiful than my garden and the seven wonders of the world?"

Hera’s remarks sounded like a nonsense tune for the three men who were left behind, flabbergasted. For a moment, Tiger, Moose, and Primo could only watch her skipping figure. Unlike the usual heavy and commanding aura she naturally exuded, all they see is a woman losing her mind in the name of love.

"At this point, I genuinely think Dominic is an enemy," Primo muttered in disbelief. "That guy is dangerous."

"That pretty face of his is deadly useful." Moose gasped. "He is Hera’s poison!"

Primo added. "Her kryptonite."

"The nullifier of her magic."

"You mean witchcraft?"

Tiger pinched the bridge of his nose as the two exchanged what suited Dominic better. He didn’t want to admit it, but he couldn’t disagree with the two. Dominic was Hera’s poison. If this was before, there was no way in hell Hera had the time to go somewhere else when they just got a discovery in their hands.

"Enough with that." Tiger sighed helplessly, snapping his eyes at the two. "Let’s give her some slack for now. If talking to Dominic will keep her sane, so be it. Did you get our money?"

They didn’t, but they got his.

Moose and Primo stared at Tiger for a moment before they quickly realized this wasn’t their problem. Hera told them not to tell Tiger, and they wouldn’t. Dealing with Hera was one thing, but Tiger was another. Both were troublesome in their own way.

"It’s already inside," said Moose, tipping his head to the mansion. "Want to count them?"

"Nah. Wolf can do that. For now, you two come with me. I’ll fill you in on the details."

With that being said, Tiger walked in a different direction. Moose and Primo looked at each other, and knowing Hera was useless at this time, they were obliged to listen to the second in command. Moreover, they stole Tiger’s money. So the least they could do was to behave.

As they headed inside, Moose jumped a step toward Tiger. "Hey, your girlfriend is one tough little cookie, isn’t she?"

"What?" Tiger stopped, facing Moose. "What did you say?"

"Oh..." Moose blinked, sporting an innocent look. "You don’t know?"

"That Ivy Wei stepped down from her company?" Primo, who knew Moose deliberately slipped up, chimed in quickly.

"She did, what?"

"She stepped down from the company," Primo repeated. "And then, she’s now a minister’s secretary. Quite a big chance of career path at this point, huh?"

Deep lines appeared between Tiger’s brows, trying to absorb this absurd information. "You’re saying...?"

"We’re saying who do you think had been giving us a hard time getting Hera’s money?" Moose arched a brow, putting the blame on Ivy early on so Tiger wouldn’t be so surprised once he found out the truth. "I looked into it on our way back since I was... curious."

"Uh." Tiger shook his finger at Moose. "Gather everyone for me once you have settled the money. I need to make a quick run."

Tiger didn’t wait for their reply as he jogged away, going in the opposite direction. Moose and Primo, on the other hand, stared at his figure quietly.

"You did that on purpose, did you?" Primo muttered while Moose shrugged.

"He won’t kill Miss Wei, but if he finds out he found out we got his money and used it anyway, it won’t be good."

"You’re saying he’ll kill us?"

"Nope." Moose shook his head and cast Primo a knowing. "But he’ll throw a big tantrum. It’ll be troublesome. Just take this as a step for damage control."

"You could’ve just told them you weren’t zoning out," said Dominic softly. "And that you just need some time to think about things."

"I didn’t lie to them when I said I was thinking about you and me." Hera chuckled as she walked through the pathway in the garden. "But you heard the confession. What do you think about it?"

"You’re asking me, who are those three families?" Dominic hummed. "The Oxley Family isn’t one of them for sure."

"I agree."

"The other one that isn’t part of this is... I have no idea." Dominic shrugged. "Are you sure you should be talking to me instead of that young kid from the Ebonhart?"

"Oh, darling. I’ll choose you any second of any day."

"Hera."

"Don’t you want to talk to me?"

"I do, but not at the expense of your life — our life."

Hera smiled. "I would get upset at you if this is under different circumstances, but it’s better to give the kid some time alone. After all, he might know who the three families who want him dead if he gave it some thought."

"Fair enough."

"How about you?" Hera returned, treading carefully. "Who do you think Axel is taking home?"

"He didn’t say, but I’m sure there’s a reason he decided to take the risk." Dominic snapped his eyes at the window when he saw Axel’s car parked. "He’s here and..." he trailed off, narrowing his eyes as he saw a lady coming out of the front passenger seat.

"Hera, I think Axel isn’t just bringing home a wallet," he muttered. "He might have taken home the jackpot."

Hera paused as she arched a brow. "Oh? Interesting. I’ll sit in your conversation. Don’t worry about me."
