I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1174: Please, help me.
Chapter 1174: Please, help me.
"This place..." Charlotte stared at the simple villa they were walking in. "... is yours?"
"No." Axel looked back at her and added, "It’s my brothers. This is where he currently stays since it’s near to his office."
"Oh." Charlotte nodded in understanding, following Axel to the front door and onto the receiving area.
As soon as they arrived in the receiving area, she caught someone seated on the couch. Deep lines appeared between her brows, following Axel slowly. She studied the man, and her step slowed down even more.
Charlotte had met many formidable men in her life. At least, she had a glimpse of them from afar because her mother was surrounded by them. So, she could tell that whoever that person seated on the couch, was no simple man. Charlotte intuitively walked closer to Axel, almost hiding behind him.
When Dominic lifted his gaze, she flinched a little. He had defined facial features, slightly thick and fleek brows, a narrow and high nose, and a pair of brooding eyes. He only straightened his back as he faced them, but the way he placed down the printouts in his hand exuded elegance.
He was beautiful, but Charlotte had learned a long time ago that not all pretty things were good.
"Mr. Zhu." Charlotte pinched the hem of Axel’s suit, earning a strange look from him. "Who is he?"
"My brother." Axel snapped his eyes on Dominic and added, "My little brother, Axel Zhu."
"He is your little brother?" she whispered yelled. "I thought he was your uncle."
Axel scrunched up his nose in dismay while Dominic tilted his head to the side. As for Hera, who was kept hidden in Dominic’s side, couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Who is she?" Dominic asked, ignoring the fact he was mistaken as his brother’s uncle.
"She’s the one I’m talking about." Axel unbuttoned his suit as he sat down across from Dominic. Charlotte remained standing since she wasn’t invited to take a seat. "Charlotte Oxley. Florence’s daughter."
’I know,’ was what Dominic wanted to say. After all, Lukas Silvers mentioned her during their brief meeting. Lukas’s exact words were:
[Though, I have a request, Mr. Zhu. If you let me, I’ll owe you another one. Once we put this plan in motion, will you let someone off?]
When Dominic asked who this person was, Lukas’s answer was, [Charlotte Oxley, Florence’s daughter.]
Dominic obviously came up with a good argument at Lukas’s request. After all, they were talking about taking down not just an organization, but an entire family. If they gave one single person a chance, they might come back and bite all their heads off.
But Lukas defended this girl. Now Dominic understood why.
Studying the lady from up and down, Charlotte didn’t give off the slightest shred that could pose a threat. She looked sickly and weak. Even though there was obvious cautiousness in her eyes, she looked more like someone who would flee if she deemed it as right.
’I can’t believe she is Florence’s daughter and Hera’s cousin,’ was the first thought that came across Dominic’s mind.
"Why are you standing?" Dominic broke his silence when he was sure this wasn’t a mere act she was playing. "Sit down."
"Oh." Charlotte awkwardly found a single seat. She clasped her hands on her lap, casting Axel a look. "Mr. Zhu, why did you... take me to your little brother’s place?"
"Because my brother is my partner." Axel leaned back, giving Dominic a knowing look. "He knows everything that I know and if I’m going to make a decision, I’d like to hear his input."
"Oh... because you were siblings?" she blurted out, only to purse her lips as she realized Dominic could hear them properly.
Axel jerked his chin in Dominic’s direction. "Tell him everything you told me on our way here."
"But —"
"I just told you he is my partner," Axel cut her off before she could even complain. "I trust him, so if you trust me, then you should know that I trust my people."
Dominic looked at Axel, speechless. Hera, who was still listening, clapped. free𝑤ebnovel.com
"This is more entertaining than I thought," Hera commented in satisfaction. "Never thought there would be a day Axel would call you his little brother."
Although she knew Dominic couldn’t hear her, she still commented. After all, this was so good it needed some commentary.
Back at the Villa, Charlotte assessed the stern look on Axel’s face before she nodded. She slowly faced Dominic’s direction, huffing after a deep breath.
"I’m asking your big brother to help me meet Hera Cruel," she went straight to the point.
"And did he tell you he doesn’t have the means for you to help meet that... monster?"
Hera deeply frowned at what Dominic called her. That was a compliment if it came from others. But she was supposed to be nothing but a bundle of joy to him!
"He did." Charlotte breathed out. "But I don’t believe him."
"And why is that?"
"Because my mother wouldn’t have any interest in Dominic Zhu in the first place if she knew he couldn’t do it."
Dominic arched a brow and glanced at Axel. The latter just shrugged.
"Please." Charlotte pursed her lips, giving the brothers an equal look. "Help me. I don’t want unnecessary bloodshed anymore. Hera is our family and they shouldn’t be fighting. What we need right now is to unite because the other families want to scratch off the name Oxley from the Five Secret Families."
"By other families, you mean?"
"All four of them." Her clasped hands trembled before she loosened them. "The Silvers’, the Capeti’s, the Ashton’s, and the Ebonhart. They will use Hera’s wrath to take down my mother, and then they will... toss Hera once they’re done with her."
Silence instantly fell in the villa as no one spoke after Charlotte’s confession. Dominic remained quiet, guessing the look on Hera’s face right now. It wasn’t like Dominic didn’t have a theory when he heard the assassin’s confession. But hearing it from Charlotte with such resolve in her voice still hit differently.
"So, please." Charlotte sighed. "Help me contact Hera."
