I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!-Chapter 1231: The better future wasn’t just a dream
Chapter 1231: The better future wasn’t just a dream
Initially, Charlotte wasn’t expecting anything anymore. Although he thought that being on good terms with Hera made her happy, she was also conflicted by the fact Florence was already dead.
"She was found under the ruins, so it’s not possible to return her in one piece. However, I thought you still might want to host a burial for her."
Charlotte’s eyes softened as he gazed down at the urn. He pursed his lips and all the shock and questions in his mind quickly disappeared. Regardless if Florence was his sister or his mother, Charlotte was still grateful to her.
Florence might not have shown her heart to Charlotte, but the latter knew at one point that Florence loved him genuinely. He might be wrong, but that was what he wanted to believe.
Was his real parentage that important?
At this point, Charlotte regained clarity. Harsh as it may sound, but both the late master Oxley and Florence were dead while he was left to live another day.
"Sister Ivy, thank you so much." Charlotte welled up as he lifted his eyes to her. "Thank you for bringing her back."
Ivy smiled subtly and nodded in understanding, grasping the reason why this work was important. They might not be capable of returning the life that was lost, but at least the fallen ones could return to their family.

After the long ceremonies, it was time for the Reapers to bid farewell to the other families. Standing outside the Silvers Mansion, the family leaders carried a big smile on their faces. The other members of the Reapers and even Elliot went ahead to the private airport in the territory.
Watching Hera approach the SUV without looking back, Charlotte couldn’t help but call her.
"Hera!"
When Hera turned, she intuitively raised her arms. Slowly, she gazed down as Charlotte embraced her tightly. Charlotte was smaller than her, so he looked like a kid hugging his mother, who would go away.
"Thank you for everything," Charlotte expressed with a teary eye. "If you have time, can you visit me?"
Charlotte raised his head to her, smiling through his tears. He had only known Hera recently, but the sense of familiarity between them was strong. Although Hera took down Florence, the woman who raised Charlotte, Charlotte understood why things turned out like this.
Hera sighed faintly before she patted his head. Her natural facial features were sharp and villainous. So the softness in her eyes and voice sounded slightly different and more sincere.
"Of course. Or if you have the time, you can visit me anytime."
Charlotte’s brows rose. "I can?"
Hera nodded. "You’re the only blood-related family I have. Isn’t it better to keep in touch? I’ll give you a call once I’ve settled down. Until then, study hard, and don’t give Nigel a hard time."
Tears formed in the corner of Charlotte’s eyes. He couldn’t help but chew his bottom lip, whimpering in Hera’s embrace.
Not long ago, Charlotte thought Hera would kill her. After all, his first impression of Hera still lingered until now.
Who would have thought that this person everyone feared could also be so warm and kind?
They’ve recently known each other, but Hera already stood up for her. Even in front of the other families, Hera put Charlotte as the head and the other families didn’t say a word about it.
Charlotte was utterly grateful to her. Hera might be his niece by blood, but Hera was more like a big sister to him.
When Charlotte calmed down, he slowly released Hera. He wiped his tears and offered a wide grin.
"Hera, I promised you that I would be someone you’d be proud of!" he pledged with conviction. "Someday, I will look after you too. I will be the greatest leader of the Oxley Family would ever have! Until then, I will study hard and work hard and learn from everyone!"
Hera was satisfied. "I know you will." She reached out and ruffled Charlotte’s hair. "Don’t overwork yourself, though, and don’t get sick."
Charlotte’s heart warmed up, nodding her head vigorously.
The two of them smiled at each other for a while before Hera turned to leave.
Hera believed that Charlotte had a lot of potential, just like the young Mr. Ashton and Mr. Capeti. With Mr. Ebonhart’s and Lukas’s guidance, she had high hopes for the future of the Secret Society and the goodness of their mission.
As Hera jumped inside the SUV, Dominic also got into the other side.
And just like that, the car sped away, following the other cars with them.
The family leaders remained in their spot, eyes on the car’s rear. Their smile remained until the cars were out of sight. All of their smiles gradually faded, replaced with a shallow sigh.
"And off they go," the young Mister Capeti murmured. "The Reapers are fun."
"They are, indeed." The young Mister Ashton agreed.
Before they left, everything was just chaos. It was almost hard to track what was going on because everything was happening at the same time. Even so, the atmosphere was light and infectious. The stoic and aloof Mister Ashton even found himself secretly laughing.
"They are, indeed, a fun bunch." Mr. Ebonhart nodded, smiling subtly. "I am almost envious." for not having such friendships in his life.
Lukas sighed and slowly peeled his eyes from the direction they were all staring at the other family leaders. "Should I arrange poker nights or barbecue parties sometime? Mr. Fig said such events can strengthen the bond."
Everyone looked at him with surprise before it was replaced by a smile.
"Tell me the time. I’ll bring in some wine." Mr. Ebonhart humored.
"I think it’s best if we add some other games," the young Mr. Capeti suggested. "Mr. Joker said playing games will hone a person’s patience."
"I think it’ll be fun if we take the other family members as well," the young Mister Ashton chimed in.
Charlotte turned around and smiled, happily giving his suggestion.
Watching this from the sidelines, Nigel couldn’t help but smile. His heart swelled with gratitude and hope for a better secret society.
This time, the better future didn’t feel like a farfetched dream anymore.

Meanwhile, inside the SUV, Dominic reached for Hera’s hand. She had her elbow propped on the window and her knuckles on her jaw.
Hera turned to him, and a smile instantly turned up on her face.
"Feeling a little down?" he asked, and she shook her head.
"I know those guys will be fine." Hera slowly scooted over to his side and leaned her head toward him. "I’m just... excited and I don’t know how to contain it."
"They’re waiting." His voice was low and soft. "Are you ready to meet them?"
Hera glanced up and nodded. "I’m nervous, but yes."
"Then let’s go home and pick up our children."
