Chapter 50: A green tea’s games.
The mighty little peepstar: [Oh hail the Emperor.]
The post which was made at six sharp on the morning of the following day was accompanied by a picture of an animated cat, wearing a crown, hiding on a closet.
It was the first thing Junjie saw when he opened his eyes at eight o’clock and it made him want to rip out his own hair.
"Consider yourself lucky that nobody has understood the meaning. Look at the comments, they are all confused and talking about a cat emperor."
Meanwhile, at Mei Mei’s house, after Mingzhu left for school the following morning, Mei Mei joined Feng Qi and Jingzhe for breakfast.
"I had forgotten what it was like preparing a child for school, the morning rush is like a full work out." Feng Qi commented.
"That’s because this child in particular is Mingzhu. She is at her laziest in the morning, getting her out of bed is a struggle. Giving her a bath and dressing her up is another struggle. Then I have coax her into eating something before rushing her out of the house. I am glad her new school does pick ups and drop offs, at least I will not have to take her to school in person." Mei Mei yawned.
Jingzhe raised a spoon of millet porridge to her lips. Mei Mei opened her mouth and swallowed the head of the spoon. It dawned on her then that she had just let Mo Jingzhe feed her.
Mei Mei drew her mouth back and swallowed. Then she turned to Feng Qi and shook her head. From one mother to another, she did not want the woman to jump to the wrong conclusions, after all parents could be blind when it came to their precious offspring.
Feng Qi was not the least bit bothered and the relaxed look on her face said so. So, Mei Mei took the spoon from Jingzhe and started feeding yourself.
"Is that a new bracelet I see on your hand?" Feng Qi noted.
"Mmm," Mei Mei raised her left hand and turned it from side to side, showing off the jade bracelet. "Old Mo gave it to me last night."
Feng Qi placed her chopsticks down and Jingzhe did the same thing with his spoon. Mother and son were not biologically related but their minds were in sync fifty percent of the time.
"Mei Mei, I don’t want to pry but what does this mean?" Feng Qi asked.
Mei Mei could hear the assumptions and horror in Feng Qi’s voice. She laughed quickly and said, "Don’t read too much into it, the bracelet means nothing. I am just accepting what I deserve after all, for so many years I lived frugally to save his money. I don’t feel the need to do so anymore which is why I accepted the bracelet. I am still getting that divorce."
Feng Qi and Jingzhe shared collective relief which was loud enough for everyone in the dining room to hear.
"Is he trying to butter you up?" Jingzhe asked.
Mei Mei used a chopstick to pick up one of Feng Qi’s fluffy pancakes. "Like this fluffy pancake. He must be getting advise from the royal agents or his divorce lawyer because the old Mo I know would not buy me a bracelet worth so much. He is a cheapskate. His wallet is sealed tighter than a jam of jar when it comes to me."
On his mother, he was more than generous, he could spend millions as long as it brought a smile to her lips.
Feng Qi frowned and raised her hand, "May I take a look at it?"
Mo Liang walked into the living room just as the bracelet was being handed over to Feng Qi for a closer look.
"What are you doing?" he bellowed.
Jingzhe’s face adjusted as soon as he smelled Mo Liang’s pineapple like cologne. "Brother, my mother is taking a closer look at the bracelet."
Mo Liang paused at the furthest end of the table and grabbed a chair with both hands tightly. He was worried about what Feng Qi would find out because the bracelet’s price had been overly inflated when he handed it to Mei Mei. If Feng Qi knew her jewelry, he was worried that he would be caught in the lie.
He sent a scathing look Feng Qi’s way. Mo Liang could not understand why she was all over his and Mei Mei’s business. Not just him but his bastard young brother as well. Why couldn’t they move out of his house and give him some peace and space to run his family as he saw fit?
"How much was this?" Feng Qi asked.
Mo Liang clenched his jaw.
"One million. That is what I was told." Mei Mei shot a curious glance at Mo Liang. She noticed that he appeared tense and figured out quickly that he had lied again.
Mei Mei knew her jade and she had figured out that the bracelet was of good quality last night. She did not think much on it because she had put Mingzhu to bed and slept off immediately.
Feng Qi shook her head. "This is nice but it doesn’t cost one million, I think it falls in the six hundred to...."
"Shut up." Mo Liang shouted out of the blue. "I am tired of you instigating Mei Mei to turn against me. You and your son keep poking your noses in our business. I know the value of the bracelet, don’t try to create trouble here."
Feng Qi shrugged and she handed the bracelet back. Jingzhe reached for it before Mei Mei did. As soon as he attempted to hand it over, it managed to slip out of his hands and fall to the ground.
The shock in the dining room was silent and yet equally loud as they all watched the bracelet shatter into four different big pieces and a few small ones.
All Mo Liang could think about was how much money he had spent on the bracelet. Not even a day later, the bracelet was broken. He was sure that Mo Jingzhe had dropped it on purpose. The little bastard had smirked just before the bracelet slipped out of his hands. Anger slapped him like a wave on the ocean on a windy day.
"You...you little shit. Do you know how much that bracelet costs?" he growled out.
Mo Jingzhe’s eyes instantly filled with remorse and fear, he grabbed Mei Mei’s arm and shook his head. "Sister, I am sorry. I did not mean to drop the bracelet that is worth millions. I am so sorry."
In the back of his mind, he was thinking about another rule of being the perfect green tea.
Rule 10: You are always sorry. Everything you do is bad but you are always sorry.
C4, the system stretched his arms, it was time to get back to work.
