Chapter 52: Keep him in jail.

Jun Meilin was preparing herself for an afternoon nap when she received the call from the police. She was informed that her husband was being held at the police station and he needed a family member to bring his insurance documents and other legal papers.

In addition to that, he was suspected of driving under the influence so she needed to go over and testify that he had not taken anything alcoholic before leaving the house.

Mei Mei’s first reaction was to remove the phone from her ear and laugh. Then she cleared her throat and tried to sound serious.

"Officer, I know the person you are talking about but we are not related at all. That man is a drunk, he usually starts at six in the morning and stops at ten in the evening. It will be best for everyone if you keep him in jail."

Mei Mei wanted to see if the news of Mo Liang’s arrest was anywhere in the news and it was. Not only was it in the news but the first person to uncover it was the peep star which was no surprise.

The mighty little peepstar: He can fly in space but he cannot fly in our space.

From space craft to handcuffs! From a blue jacket to a silver handcuffs. From a white space suit to a white prison jumpsuit!

Who has two thumbs and needs a campus; the space pilot.

Okay I am done, make up your own jokes.

Below the post, there were about five pictures from the scene of the accident. One was just before the crush and it showed Mo Liang looking at his phone and the rest showed the cars crushing into each other, falling on the ground. Mo Liang being checked for alcohol content in his blood and finally being put in a police car and driven to the station

Mei Mei was snickering uncontrollably and it was not just because Mo Liang had run into some bad luck. It was also because the comments were funny.

[The space pilot after the crush, "I swear, it was gravity that did it."]

[Police: Why didn’t you brake? Space Pilot: I was waiting for mission control to give me clearance.]

[The first question his mechanic will ask, "Does space ship insurance cover non extraterrestrial collisions?"]

[Thankfully nobody died but how safe are our space ships if drunk men are flying them?]

[Why didn’t you brake? Mr. Mo: I thought I saw an alien.]

[Why did the space pilot crash the car on earth? Answer: He thought parallel parking meant aligning with the milky way?]

[No, I have a better answer, he mistook the stop sign for a wormhole]

[He was trying to escape velocity...hahaha]

[In his defense, he studied asteroid dodging not car dodging.]

[Asteroid dodging sounds like a game you can play with a ball...like dodge ball.]

[I have the best joke. Judge: Why didn’t you brake? Mr. Mo: Your honor, I only know how to warp in one direction.]

[Asteroid dodging!!! So funny +1]

[When his car was being towed away, I bet he asked, "Do you have a tractor beam option?]

She was still reading the comments and laughing when the police called again. Mei Mei put the phone down, yawned and prepared to lay down on the sofa but again, she was interrupted. The butler walked into the living room and told her that she had a guest.

As she was not expecting any guests, Mei Mei was puzzled. "Who is it?"

"A Mr. and Mrs. Xu. Their son is the space pilot that died in space." He shared.

Mei Mei had seen the Xu’s at the funeral but she had not approached them. She did not think that she had anything to say to them and she did not want to pull them into the toxicity of her drama with Mo Liang. Her lawyers had recommended that she get in touch with them and convince them to be character witnesses in her divorce but she refused to it.

She figured that they had been through enough misery. They were probably in much more pain than she was if they had worked out Mo Hao’s age. Since they were already at the gate, she decided to meet with them.

"Let them in." she said.

As the butler went back to invite them in, she sent for some tea. The Xu’s arrived at the same time as the tea and it was served to them immediately.

While they were getting settled in, Mei Mei took time to observe them. It could have been an overly active imagination but she could have sworn they they looked older than they had appeared to be at the funeral.

"Grief will do that to you." C4 commented.

Mrs. Xu suddenly opened her mouth and asked, "Did you know?"

Her eyes were focused on Mei Mei and it was clear that the question was meant for her. Mei Mei decided not to play the fool as Mrs. Xu was being direct.

"Are you asking about my husband and your daughter-in-law’s affair or the child that is the direct result of the affair?"

"All if it." Mrs. Xu said.

Her eyes were flashing with anger which was misdirected in Mei Mei’s opinion as she was not one of the parties that engaged in the air.

"If I knew, do you think that I would have gone to the airport with flowers to welcome him back with open arms?" She questioned back. "The whole world saw what happened to me. I was shoved back and my flowers were trampled on and then my husband, his mistress and their son walked away, leaving me to run after them like a fool. I did not even know that they were together at the time, I found out when we got home."

Mr Xu punched his fists together angrily, "Animals, they are animals. They did not even wait for three months to pass before jumping into bed together. Our son’s corpse was kept frozen up there in the very spaceship that Mo Liang flies, The Oceanus Seeker. My son’s body was only a few feet away from them and they..." he broke off and folded his arms across his chest.

Mrs. Xu started crying and Mei Mei sighed.

"How could they do it?" Mrs. Xu lamented. "One is his wife and the other his best friend. I would not be hurt if they had waited at least one year or two but they wasted no moment. I can’t help wondering if they had been involved even before my son died."
