Chapter 89: Mo Liang on a talk show too.
The second round of cooking after everyone realized that the taste of the food was actually amazing. The eggs were fluffy and buttery, creamy and warm with a rich taste.
Mingzhu had declared the junior space chef game the best thing in the camp and then she said she wanted pancakes.
Mei Mei had sent for all the campers and employees. Now, everyone was in the game, competing and cooking.
Not everyone was talented, manager Ma for example was coming off as a mad scientist rather than a chef with all his dishes. Nevertheless, everyone was having fun and two more people had fallen victim to Sour Nugget’s ninja kick.

At the headquarters of High Digital Studio, a complex in which various media companies were housed, Mo Liang was preparing to give a live interview to a the host of a show called Family ties. It was a show hosted by Gao Jiajia a famous Tv host whose show was equally famous in the nation.
On the show usually, a family that was experiencing serious issues that were threatening to tear them apart could come to Gao Jiajia as a last stop before divorce or splitting up.
It was famous because it involved revelations of betrayals like infidelity, financial secrets and so many other scandal worthy issues. Often, there was some fighting involved so security guards were always on stand by to prevent the guests, host and live audience from being injured.
When Mo Liang appeared on the stage, in his blue astronaut jacket, the live studio audience gasped first because they were shocked to see him. The gasping was then followed by a myriad of reactions.
Some booing, some frowning, some jeering, one or two applause’s from here and there. No matter what the reaction was, Gao Jiajia was thrilled because she anticipated the high ratings her show would rake in the following day.
The millions of people that had tuned in for tea with a princess would tune in for family ties, or so she guessed. Gao Jiajia had even gone ahead to copy Princess Rize’s fashion when she interviewed the Xu couple.
She shook hands with Mo Liang, they sat down and looked at the audience.
"Welcome to family ties." Gao Jiajia started. "I know that today’s guest is a shock to everyone here and all around our empire but he contacted me because he wanted his side of the story to be heard and I could not deny him the opportunity."
Some people booed again.
Gao Jiajia waved her hand, gesturing that they calm down. "I am as familiar as the rest of you on his private affairs but I ask that everyone remain calm and we listen to his troubles. Our guests come to us because they have acknowledged that something is wrong in their families and they are seeking to fix it." She turned her head to Mo Liang. "Do you acknowledge your mistakes?"
Mo Liang saddened his face and nodded. "So much." he said into the microphone.
The audience had to applaud because it is what they did when a guest acknowledged their mistake.
Gao Jiajia’s heartbeat escalated. "Let us give him another round of applause, not everyone is brave enough to acknowledge the fact that they have hurt their loved ones. In this story, we all know that Mrs. Mo is perhaps the biggest victim."
She deliberately called Mei Mei Mrs. Mo.
"Err..my wife prefers to be called Jun Meilin. I don’t think that I have ever heard anyone ever call her Mrs. Mo."
"Oh!" Gao Jiajia drew her head back. "Well, we can go back to this later. Let me introduce you to the audience and everyone that is watching us at home." She smiled at the cameras and introduced Mo Liang, not that it was necessary as his identity was very much well known to everyone in the audience. "Let me first take a second to thank you for your service and sacrifice."
Mo Liang’s face beamed, he put his hands together as if he was praying and he nodded.
"I know the future generation will remember your name when humans finally build their second home." She said.
The assistants gestured at the audience to clap and they did.
"Okay, let’s begin from something that has been and is still being discussed widely on the internet today; you saving Jun Meilin’s life in the fire."
The video of him carrying Mei Mei out of the fire started playing on a screen high up behind Gao Jiajia. Unlike tea with a princess that blurred out some images, family ties did the opposite. They drew focus to the appearance of Mo Liang, highlighting his burned arms, face and scorched hair.
The sight was gruesome and many people in the audience were uncomfortable watching it. By the time it was done playing, Mo Liang’s eyes were slightly reddish. He appeared squeamish too, as if he had just walked through the fire.
"There has been some talk among the netizens who are suggesting that you possibly set the fire and saved Jun Meilin deliberately. There have also been holes poked into your reasons for being at the venue that day. Can you bring us into your world a little. Tell us why you were at the venue that day?" Gao Jiajia asked.
The questions that she was asking, Mo Liang was already expecting. He had hired a PR expert recommended by his lawyer that was helping him as the royal family had backed out of his personal life.
Mo Liang sighed first, he looked down, seemingly burdened by something heavy. His appearance of vulnerability drew in the audience, some sympathized with him.
He looked up and smiled softly, "Forgive me for my reaction, that day just brings back many painful memories. I have seen what is being said by the netizens and it saddens my heart. It is one thing to see what I looked like when I risked my life to carry Jun Meilin out of that fire. It is another to experience it. Has any of you ever been burned or scalded?"
It was difficult to find an adult in the world that never been burned or scalded.
He rubbed his left hand slowly, the look in his eyes was unfocused. The eyes themselves were glossy as if tears were threatening to fall. "Most of you probably don’t remember the pain you experienced in that moment an hour later or a few days later. I will never the forget the pain I suffered that day for the rest of my life. I don’t know if hell is real or how hot fire in hell burns but for me, that was hell."
Back stage, Hou Manjuan, the PR expert that he had hired mouthed the same sentence along with him, word for word.
