Married For Now-Chapter 57: SILVER TONGUE
Chapter 57: SILVER TONGUE
SOHEE almost got carried away— no, he was almost swayed by Shaman Jung and his silver tongue.
However, luckily, he still had his wits with him.
Plus, Heedo often tells me that he doesn’t trust this esteemed shaman. And I trust my husband more than this person.
"Let me just get a few things straight, sir," Sohee said, knitting his eyebrows. "I feel like Jung-nim is distracting me. This feels a bit different from what we talked about last time. Sir, you don’t mind if I ask questions as if I’m interrogating you, right?"
Shaman Jung chuckled and nodded. "Go ahead and ask, Sohee-ssi. I don’t mind even if it sounds like you’re interrogating me. After all, I want to gain your trust."
Even that part was pretty suspicious.
I know he said I had great luck, but I still have questions.
"If Kim Heedo divorced me on his own accord for whatever reason, then I’ll be fine," Sohee said carefully. "But if someone stole my luck and Kim Heedo divorced me, then I’ll be struck with bad luck for the rest of my life. That even after all the alimony I’m set to receive after the divorce, my misfortune would still find a way to fuck me up."
"That’s right," Shaman Jung said while nodding. "That’s why I need you to stay married to Kim Heedo, Sohee-ssi. As long as you live a happy and prosperous life, then the god I serve will continue blessing me with more divine power."
There it is— Shaman Jung’s greed.
"I want to tell Kim Heedo about this."
"Are you sure about that Sohee-ssi?"
"Yes, but I can’t tell him yet," Sohee said carefully. "I need to gather evidence first that someone is really trying to steal my luck."
Shaman Jung knitted his eyebrows. "Isn’t it enough evidence that Ho Changmin stole your earring because someone told him it was the way to steal your luck?"
"Yes, but you said Ho Changmin isn’t the main culprit."
"Then are you planning to catch the culprit first before you tell Kim Heedo everything?"
"I need to be attacked again."
Shaman Jung’s eyes widened in shock. "Sohee-ssi, why would you want to be attacked again?"
"Whether I like it or not, the person who wants my luck will attack me again."
"Ah, that makes sense."
"Once it happens, I’ll make Kim Heedo realize on his own that I’m still being targeted. If I tell him myself, he’d just think I’m being influenced by you, sir."
"Oh, I see. Kim Heedo doesn’t trust me, after all."
Me neither.
"I have a feeling that the one targeting me is close to Kim Heedo."
"Should I give you a hint?"
"What do you want in return then?"
"I just need you to be safe for my own interest, Sohee-ssi."
"Sir, your greed is showing."
Shaman Jung just chuckled while shaking his head. "The person targeting you is close yet so far. That’s the only hint that the god I serve gave me, so that’s also the only hint I can share with you, Sohee-ssi."
"It’s enough, sir. Thank you," Sohee said politely. "I’ll do the rest."

"COME AND PLAY with us again, Oppa. And, next time, stay longer."
"Alright," Sohee said, smiling while nodding. "Go and take a rest, Haewon-ah. You’re probably tired from watching the concert."
After dinner, the Kim Twins were now sending off Sohee and Kim Heedo at the gate.
President Kim Nari wasn’t able to join them because his mother-in-law had to personally drive Shaman Jung back to the temple.
Heedo said my mother-in-law was going to donate money there, so she came in person.
Sohee almost forgot that the Kim Family would often donate huge amount of money to Shaman Jung and his temple.
Kim Haewon, Kim Heedo’s little sister, covered her mouth with her hands when she yawned. "You’re right, Oppa. Next time, I’ll introduce you to my oppas. Then I’ll turn you into their fan."
Sohee just chuckled, nodding.
Then he turned to Kim Hanhae who was smiling like a fool while texting on his phone.
Aigoo.
"How was your date, Hanhae-ya?"
Kim Hanhae lifted his head, and then he giggled like a maiden in love. "I had fun, Hyung-nim. My date is a good hyung to me."
Sohee had already noticed that Kim Hanhae’s boyfriend was older than him before Kim Hanhae called his partner ’hyung.’ But when he subtly tried to ask how old Kim Hanhae’s partner was, the kid changed the topic.
That’s suspicious.
"Hanhae-ya, you’re still a child. Don’t be too serious yet," Sohee said carefully. "Plus, not all adults are kind and trustworthy."
"Hyung, I don’t know what you’re worried about, but chill," Kim Hanhae assured him, laughing softly. "I know what I’m doing."
Sohee didn’t want to press further since he didn’t know the situation yet, so he just smiled and nodded.
"Hyung, let’s go."
It was Kim Heedo who was already in the car, looking at them through the rolled-down window of the driver’s side.
So impatient.
"Okay," Sohee said to Kim Heedo, and then he waved to the Kim Twins. "Bye, kids."
Kim Haewon and Kim Hanhae waved back at him."
"Bye, Oppa."
"Bye, Hyung-nim."

SOHEE immediately noticed the big boxes in the backseat.
And, well, he saw Kim Heedo put those things in the car earlier.
"Those are yours, Hyung," Kim Heedo, whose eyes were glued to the road while driving, said when he noticed Sohee looking at the boxes through the rearview mirror. "The drawing tablet I ordered for you arrived at the house yesterday."
Ah, so that was probably why Kim Heedo wanted to visit his parents.
Aside from the fact that Shaman Jung needed to bless our wedding rings.
"Hyung said you don’t know much about drawing tablets, right? Han Raehyun is an expert when it comes to digital drawing, so I asked him what type of drawing tablet to get for you," Kim Heedo explained. "I got what Han Raehyun recommended."
Aww.
"Thank you, Heedo-ya."
"You’re welcome, Hyung. I hope you and Sera beat Han Raehyun in that contest."
Sohee chuckled while shaking his head. "How can you say that after Han Raehyun helped us get the right drawing tablet for me?"
"This and that are two different things."
Sohee just laughed it off, and then he got serious when he remembered he had something to tell Kim Heedo about his sibling. "Heedo-ya, I know my place as your contract husband. So, I’ll ask first. Can I give a comment on Kim Hanhae’s love life?"
"You sound serious, Hyung. Go ahead."
"Do you know who Kim Hanhae is dating?"
Kim Heedo shook his head. "I just know that it’s a hyung older than him."
"This is just my hunch, but the person Kim Hanhae is dating seems to be older than me."
"What?!"
"Calm down, Heedo-ya."
"What?"
Pfft.
"I could be wrong, but the jokes and stuff that Kim Hanhae shared about his partner made me think that person was older than me. And when I asked your brother if that person is the same age as me, he refused to answer."
"Why would he refuse to answer such a basic question?"
"Right? Worse, I have a feeling that Kim Hanhae’s partner is already in his thirties based on his stories. Your brother had a slip of the tongue earlier when we were talking about idol groups. He said his partner was a college student when my favorite idol group from two generations ago was at the peak of their career."
Kim Heedo didn’t say anything, but he clenched his jaw.
"As I said earlier, I could be wrong."
"Still, thank you for telling me, Hyung. I’ll look into it."
Sohee nodded. "Kim Hanhae is only eighteen years old. Although he’s about to be an adult soon, dating a man in his thirties is a bit..."
"Not just a "bit," Hyung. How could a person in his thirties date a high schooler? Even if Kim Hanhae is almost of legal age, the power dynamics between him and his partner are crazy."
"Well, nothing is verified yet. So, don’t waste your energy on getting angry at an imaginary situation, Heedo-ya. Take a deep breath." Sohee then extended his hand to gently pat Kim Heedo’s head. "I know you’re worried that your brother might be getting taken advantage of by an older man. But we should handle it carefully."
Kim Heedo nodded, and then he took a deep breath. "Hyung, thank you."
"You’re welcome."
If Sohee had known in advance that it would put a crack in his relationship with Kim Hanhae... well, he would still have done the same thing.
A man in his thirties has no business dating an eighteen-year-old high schooler.
But Sohee would later realize that he had fallen into a trap by meddling with his younger brother-in-law’s love life.
