Married For Now-Chapter 56: BIG DECISION
Chapter 56: BIG DECISION
THAT WEEKEND, Sohee had a nice lunch with the Kim Family at their very luxurious mansion.
Since the weather was fine, they had lunch in the garden.
It was like a fancy buffet because there were chefs cooking food for them.
Of course, they prepared that much because Shaman Jung was there.
"We’d like to stay longer, but we have an important business deal to close," Chairman Kim Hyungsik— who looked healthier and happier than the last time Sohee saw him— said while getting up from his seat. The chairman was probably cheerful because his company was doing better than ever. "My precious grandson-in-law, it’s really nice to see you again. I hope you visit more often."
Sohee smiled and nodded politely. "Yes, Grandfather."
Chairman Kim Hyungsik then said his goodbyes to Shaman Jung.
Sohee then caught Kim Dohan’s gaze.
"Visit more often, Sohee-ya," Kim Dohan, his father-in-law, said in his usual calm and a bit indifferent voice. "We prepared a room for you here."
Aww.
Sohee smiled and nodded politely again. "Thank you, Father-in-law."
After that, Chairman Kim Hyungsik and Vice Chairman Kim Dohan left.
Now Sohee was left with his mother-in-law, Shaman Jung, and Kim Heedo.
"Where are the twins, Mother-in-law?" Sohee asked curiously. "I thought they’d be here since it’s a weekend."
"Haewon is going to watch a concert with her friends while Hanhae is on a date," President Kim Nari said. "They’ll come home before dinner. So, I hope you’d wait for them, Sohee-ya. The twins like hanging out with you."
"I like the twins, too," Sohee said, smiling. "We can’t stay overnight, but we can stay for dinner. Right, Heedo-ya?"
"It’s up to you, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, pouting. "It seems like my family is more excited to see you anyway. They barely pay attention to me."
Aigoo.
"If you act cutely, maybe your family will like you more," Sohee teased Kim Heedo, tousling his hair gently. "Let’s see your aegyo, Heedo-ya."
"Hyung, I’m not a kid," Kim Heedo complained, but he seemed pleased while getting head pats from Sohee. "What do you want to do while we’re waiting for the twins?"
Ah, right.
There’s a reason why I came here even though I was supposed to be working with Sera and Euntak.
Sohee turned to Shaman Jung. "Sir, may I talk to you in private?"
Shaman Jung, who looked like he already expected that, smiled and nodded. "Of course, Sohee-ssi."
***
"EOMMA, do you genuinely like Sohee Hyung as a son-in-law?" Kim Heedo asked his mother curiously. "Or are you just being friendly to him because of our family’s curse?"
Since Park Sohee was in the private reception room with Shaman Jung, Heedo took that opportunity to spend time with his mother over coffee and snacks.
It’s rare for Eomma to not be this busy anyway.
"My precious son, I don’t know how to explain it in a way that you’ll understand," his mother said, sipping her coffee while thinking for a moment. "There are just people who are born to be loved."
"Huh?"
"The moment I saw Park Sohee, I thought to myself: "Ah, I should treasure this person like he’s my own son,"" his mother said, smiling faintly. "Even if your marriage with Park Sohee doesn’t work out in the end, I’d still treat him the same."
Heedo felt bittersweet.
Of course, he was happy for Park Sohee since he knew Park Sohee wanted to be treated as a family member— not because of the curse, but because the Kim Family genuinely liked him as a person.
However...
"Eomma, why didn’t you treat Lee Junsu the way you’re treating Sohee Hyung now?" Heedo asked his mother carefully. "Is it because Lee Junsu is a Beta?"
"Heedo-ya, I didn’t even know you were dating Lee Junsu until you had a fight with your grandfather after he asked you to marry Park Sohee," his mother reminded him. "You only introduced him as a friend once. After that, you never brought Lee Junsu home again."
Ah.
It was because Lee Junsu said he was intimidated by my family...
"We never had the opportunity to get to know Lee Junsu," his mother said, smiling apologetically at him. "But we were ready to support your relationship with him back then. You know that, don’t you?"
Heedo nodded carefully.
What his mother said was true, after all.
They never forced me to marry Sohee Hyung— it was my decision.
"I was a bad boyfriend to Lee Junsu, huh?" Heedo said, smiling bitterly while shaking his head. "No wonder he dumped me."
"Son, you and Lee Junsu were only teenagers back then," his mother said, sighing. "To be honest, aren’t the years that you’ve been separated longer than your relationship."
Ouch.
Heedo flinched because his mother was right.
Now I feel like a fool.

"SHAMAN JUNG-NIM, have you heard about the conman who’s trying to beat you?" Sohee asked carefully. "That person tried to steal my earring."
"Yes, I’ve heard about him," Shaman Jung said while nodding. "Mr. Shin Kang sent me a detailed report about what happened. Unfortunately, they haven’t found the culprit yet. Hence, I can’t tell you what kind of person that supposed conman is."
"But is it possible, sir? Can he really steal my luck by stealing my stuff?"
"I’m here in Seoul to find out."
"Oh, so there are things that even you don’t know, Jung-nim."
"I’m not the only powerful shaman in this country, after all."
That made sense.
Shaman Jung-nim seems legit, so his opponents are probably legit as well.
"But I do know one thing, Sohee-ssi."
Sohee gulped because Shaman Jung was staring at him intently. "W-What is it, sir?"
"Someone is actively trying to steal your fortune, Sohee-ssi," Shaman Jung said in a serious tone. "And the culprit hasn’t been caught yet."
"It wasn’t Ho Changmin?"
"I went to see that child before coming here, and I’m certain he wasn’t the one trying to steal your luck."
Sohee wanted to ask if the shaman knew who the culprit might be, but he realized it was a stupid question.
We won’t be having this conversation if we know who to catch.
Hence, he changed his question.
"Jung-nim, is there a way for me to catch the bastard trying to ruin my life?"
"Instead of trying to catch the culprit, why don’t you just solidify your position as Kim Heedo’s husband?" Shaman Jung asked. "Sohee-ssi, once Kim Heedo falls in love with you, your luck couldn’t be stolen anymore."
Yeah, that was the easy way out of his problem.
However...
"I can’t do it, sir," Sohee said while shaking his head. "I don’t want to seduce Kim Heedo for that reason. Not that I’m confident I can."
"Sohee-ssi, you’re being too hard on yourself."
"Huh?"
"Sohee-ssi, you like Kim Heedo, don’t you?"
"..."
"You do," Shaman Jung said, smiling. "Sohee-ssi, it’s not a crime to make the person you like like you back, is it? Moreover, you’re doing it because you want to be with him— not just to protect your luck. So, why are you making things complicated?"
Oh.
Oh.
The shaman was right.
Sohee covered his mouth with his hand. "But it means I have to confess to Heedo, right...?"
