Chapter 62: GAMBLE

"SANGWOO Hyung, what are you doing? Park Sohee-ssi and I aren’t close enough for him to lend us a hand."

Oh.

So, it wasn’t just Sohee’s imagination.

They really need my help.

"Listen to me first, Junsu-ya. I have a brilliant plan," Sangwoo, Lee Junsu’s manager, said cheerfully. Then he politely pointed at Sohee with both hands. "Your friend here has the same body type and hair color as you."

"Park Sohee-ssi is older than me, Hyung."

"Then this hyung-nim of yours," Manager Sangwoo said, quickly correcting himself. "You and this hyung-nim of yours could switch clothes. Then your bodyguard and I will pretend to escort Park Sohee-ssi— who’s pretending to be you— to the car. We will use that opportunity to capture the person threatening to hurt you."

Sohee raised an eyebrow. "You want me to act like bait? Even though you know that the person targeting Lee Junsu-ssi is dangerous?"

Only then did the manager shut his mouth.

"I’m sorry, Park Sohee-ssi," Lee Junsu-ssi said. In fairness, the male idol looked genuinely sorry. "Sangwoo Hyung is just worried about me. This morning, my hater sent me threats. He sent pictures to prove that he’s here at Yonhee University."

"The hater knows your personal number?"

"Yes, and it’s common for haters and obsessive fans to buy their idols’ private information such as their phone number, home address, hotel room, and even flight details."

"Oh, god. That’s awful."

"This particular hater of our Junsu is more obsessed with him than any of his normal fans," Manager Sangwoo said while shaking his head. "He sent a picture of our Junsu when the group was doing a rehearsal earlier. Our Junsu had a panic attack, that’s why we’re here."

Ah, now Sohee felt bad for Lee Junsu.

I know how hard it is to have a mental disorder.

"Worse, just before Park Sohee-ssi got here, the hater sent a picture of our Junsu entering the clinic," Manager Sangwoo continued, sighing. "Our Junsu here starts hyperventilating every time we try to leave, so we’re stuck here."

Ah.

That’s why they need my help.

"Sohee-ssi, you’re here?"

Oh.

Everyone was startled when Nam Sooyoung— the school doctor— finally returned.

I remember Kim Heedo saying that Miss Nam is my mother-in-law’s friend.

"Are you hurt, Sohee-ssi?" Miss Nam asked worriedly. "Your mother-in-law was so worried about you when I told him about what happened last time you were here."

"I’m not hurt, Miss Nam," Sohee said, pointing at his nose and the dried blood on his shirt. "I just had a nosebleed, probably because I haven’t gotten a proper sleep for the past few weeks. I was wondering if I could rest here."

He was an Omega, so sleeping even in the department lounge was risky for him.

That was why Cho Euntak suggested that he rest in the clinic instead of their clubroom.

It’s better to be safe than sorry.

"Sure, you can rest here," Miss Nam said. "I’m already done checking up on the university president, so I’m not leaving the clinic again."

Ah, so that was the reason Miss Nam wasn’t there.

"You can go and lay down on the bed, Sohee-ssi," Miss Nam said, patting Sohee’s back. "I promise to keep you safe."

"Thank you, Miss Nam."

Miss Nam nodded, and then she turned to Lee Junsu with a worried look on her face. "Lee Junsu-ssi, I thought you’ve already calmed down. If you still don’t feel well, then would you like me to call an ambulance for you?"

Lee Junsu shook his head politely. "There’s no need for an ambulance, ma’am. I just need more time to completely relax."

"Junsu-ya, we don’t have much time," Manager Sangwoo reminded the idol. "Your group’s performance will begin in twenty minutes."

Sohee, who was about to lie down on the bed, stopped.

Haaah.

I don’t want to worry about my husband’s ex-boyfriend, but I don’t want their group’s performance to get canceled when I can do something to help. Kim Heedo worked hard to help the Student Council organize this festival.

Again, haaah.

Some might say that Sohee was being stupidly selfless.

A pushover, if you will.

However, there was a reason why he decided to help Lee Junsu.

I need to test something.

"Lee Junsu-ssi."

"Yes, Park Sohee-ssi?"

"Will posing as you put you at ease?" Sohee asked. "I just need to disguise as you to confuse your hater, right?"

Lee Junsu suddenly looked confused. "You don’t have to force yourself to help me, Park Sohee-ssi. This is my problem."

"Yeah, but I have the tendency to be a pushover when I know I can help someone," Sohee said while taking off his university jacket. "Just a few months ago, I was in a position where I needed help so badly. Fortunately, Kim Heedo happened in my life. Since he’s my benefactor, I don’t mind helping him."

Lee Junsu frowned. "Helping Kim Heedo by helping me because of our past?"

"Well, I’m not sure," Sohee said, shrugging. "All I know is I don’t want your performance to get canceled because Kim Heedo and the Student Council really worked hard for this festival."

"I see," Lee Junsu said, and then he took off his jacket. "Should we also exchange phones? If the hater sees you come out of the clinic, then we’d know we’ve completely fooled him. Once he follows you, I’ll return with to my bandmates."

"Will you be fine alone?"

Lee Junsu couldn’t answer right away.

"I’ll accompany Lee Junsu-ssi," Miss Nam volunteered while raising her hand. "Will it be alright if I lend you a hand?"

Lee Junsu nodded politely. "I’ll be grateful if you help us, ma’am."

"Then it’s settled," Sohee said, pausing for a moment. "We should also exchange numbers to keep each other updated, Lee Junsu-ssi."

TO BE HONEST, Sohee’s number one suspect for the "luck thief" was Lee Junsu.

I mean, isn’t it quite obvious? Only Lee Junsu-ssi would want to take my place that badly.

But then again, there was one thing stopping him from suspecting Lee Junsu further.

He doesn’t need to steal my luck since Kim Heedo is still obsessed with him.

Anyway, that was why Sohee decided to gamble.

If I get hurt here, then I’ll be 80% certain that Lee Junsu is the one cursing me.

Sohee’s train of thought was interrupted when Lee Junsu’s phone rang.

He received a message from an unknown number.

Since Lee Junsu disabled the lock of his phone, he was able to read the message.

Actually, it was just a picture of Sohee leaving the clinic with Manager Sangwoo and the quiet bodyguard.

Ah, it worked— we fooled the hater.

It was a good thing that Lee Junsu wore a hooded jacket.

Sohee was able to hide his face because of the hood, and he even wore a face mask. Fortunately, the yellow dust was bad that day so almost everyone was wearing one. Hence, he didn’t stand out.

In the first place, the parking lot where Kosmos’ celebrity van was parked in was a little isolated from the main campus.

Hence, only a few people were there.

"We’re really being followed," Manager Sangwoo said while looking at the phone. "Let’s hurry, Sohee-ssi."

Sohee just nodded, allowing Manager Sangwoo to hold him by the shoulders and practically drag him to the van.

I guess this is how he’d often escort Lee Junsu.

"Are you Kosmos’ Jamie?"

Oh.

When Sohee looked over his shoulder, he saw a man wearing a cap, a face mask, and a hooded jacket about to grab him.

But the silent bodyguard quickly grabbed the stranger by the arm. fгeewebnovёl.com

"Let’s go!" Manager Sangwoo said in a hurry, still dragging Sohee as if he didn’t weigh anything. "Ahjussi, take care of him!"

Sohee immediately looked away when the bodyguard nodded.

A few moments later, they finally arrived at the van.

Manager Sangwoo quickly opened the door and pushed Sohee inside.

And then the manager closed the door immediately before running around the driver’s side.

However, that was a mistake.

"Welcome, Junsu-ya."

Sohee gulped when he realized that there were already people inside the van— one in the driver’s seat, and one behind him.

Shit.

Before he could even react— and before Manager Sangwoo could get to the driver’s side, the van had already driven off.

Yep, Sohee was kidnapped while being mistaken for Lee Junsu.

There goes my luck.

***

KIM HEEDO kept calling Park Sohee, but his hyung wasn’t picking up.

He had to stop trying to reach out to him when he finally arrived at the clinic with the bodyguards from Kwon Gaon’s company.

Lee Junsu is behind this door...

Heedo took a deep breath, and then he finally opened the door.

"Junsu-ssi, take a deep breath!"

Heedo was startled when he saw Miss Nam— the school doctor— aiding Lee Junsu who was clutching his chest tight.

It was clear that Lee Junsu couldn’t breathe.

"Lee Junsu..."

Lee Junsu lifted his head, and he looked relieved when he saw Heedo. "You’re here, Heedo-ya..."

And then Lee Junsu suddenly fainted.

Heedo immediately ran and caught Lee Junsu before he hit the floor. "Junsu-ya!"
