My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 391: Thorun, the Northern Emperor
Chapter 391: Thorun, the Northern Emperor
After insulting the emperor right to his face and calling him an idiot, I expected the calm man to get angry. However, he started chuckling at my comment.
"You are the first person to ever call me that..." The emperor commented. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Very well, then. Let me show you the true power of the Emperor of the North," he continued, standing up from his throne.
As soon as his legs stretched, I could feel a somewhat heavy pressure around me, coming from the MP that oozed from the emperor’s body.
’Viking martial arts, huh?’ I thought, detailing the MP outline around him, which was a technique that warriors in the north practiced.
Not feeling threatened by his powers, I pointed the tip of my bo at the emperor and released a fire wave that covered half of the throne room.
Nonetheless, the emperor was still standing in the same spot as the flames didn’t even graze him.
’I see. The MP coating his body is dense enough to deflect my magic attacks...’ I thought.
Suddenly, before I could shoot a second, more powerful spell, Baelzor got up and fired a massive shadow projectile towards me, making me take a quick backstep to avoid it.
"You really hate fair fights, huh?" I said to the devil, who seemed to always fight me when he was accompanied by others.
Obviously, I didn’t care if it was more than one of them since I would also team up with my companions if it meant killing the devils, but I was trying to stir him up.
"Shut it!" Baelzor shouted, releasing another shadow projectile that I easily avoided.
[Yoru. Can you get Grul out of here?] I asked my companion using our telepathy.
[Got it!] Yoru replied, stepping out from my shadow and rushing towards the imp.
Seeing the moonwolf freeing Grul, Baelzor pointed his palm at my companion, but I appeared right in front of him and gripped his arm tightly.
"You are fighting me, buddy," I said, pulling him down and kicking his chin with all my strength.
Honestly, I expected to break half the bones on Baelzor’s face with that kick, but the devil’s body proved to be quite durable. Still, I could see blood coming out of his mouth.
Right at that moment, the emperor appeared behind me with his palm charged with wind magic, but before he could strike me, I cast an ice nova spell around me that froze their legs in place momentarily.
Relishing the opening, I kicked the emperor in the gut, breaking the ice off his feet and launching him against a steel pillar.
I didn’t have a second to breathe as Baelzor appeared beside me, ready to strike with his demon claws. Nonetheless, I used my magic bo to protect myself and deflect his physical attack, allowing me to hit him in the ribs with a lightning-charged bash.
’I’ll focus on Baelzor...’ I thought, prioritizing him as he was the one who controlled the imps inside the citizens’ bodies.
As the devil stood up and held his ribs with a painful expression, I rushed at him with my bo charged with a combination of fire and lightning magic, and as I raised it over my head, a massive and intimidating torrent of MP was released from my body.
Baelzor crossed his arms in front of him to protect his face, but when my bo crashed down on him, the force of the attack was strong enough to break the floor under us, making us fall into the castle’s dungeon.
I maintained my focus and landed safely on the ground, ready to launch another attack at Baelzor. However, his demonic energy had increased tenfold, and as the dust cloud went away, I could see his true form.
Baelzor’s body was ashen white, and his eyes were entirely blacked out. His obsidian claws were long, and his horns extruded a shadowy energy from them.
Still, I didn’t let his ugly mug intimidate me, so I charged my bo with the same combination of destructive magic and rushed at him.
As I unloaded a barrage of attacks with my bo on the devil, I was able to get a few hits, but his speed had increased so much that he was starting to keep up with me.
Suddenly, I felt the emperor’s presence approaching me after jumping down into the dungeon, and I thought that the two of them would try to attack me at the same time. However, I realized that Baelzor was trying to get away from the fight.
’He must have felt his imps disappearing...’ I thought.
While I was inside the Steel Castle fighting Baelzor and the emperor, our troops had already encountered theirs outside the city gates.
Their vanguard was meant to fall into the giant pit trap that we left on the battlefield, where our soldiers and Jackson would cleanse their curses and kill the imps that came out of their bodies.
Of course, I wasn’t seeing it with my own eyes since I was inside the castle’s dungeon, but I could still feel the MP fluctuations, so I had a rough idea of what was happening out there.
Baelzor, who could feel the same fluctuations on the battlefield, looked up for a way to quickly escape, and just as the emperor appeared behind me with a massive double-edged sword, the devil jumped up to the throne room with all his might.
In what felt like a second, I waved my bo to the side and deflected the emperor’s sword, casting wind magic to propel me upwards. Then, I grabbed Baelzor’s leg in mid-air and threw him back down to the dungeon floor with all my strength.
I was using very little MP for my attacks since I didn’t want to deplete it so early in our fight.
Even if I could use an MP potion to regain my powers, I would still feel fatigued after spending so much magic power.
"Hah, hahaha, HAHAH!" the emperor maniacally laughed as I landed back down.
"Seems like I underestimated the sage’s power..." he muttered.
"Finally. Killing you will truly make me feel like the emperor!" he continued, shouting and raising his sword.
