Chapter 393: Chaotic Battle

As I flew across the last wall, I found myself on the outskirts of the city, looking down at the battlefield where the ice knights were holding back the brainwashed warriors.

The trenches that we set up as a trap had been activated already, and I could see some of our own warriors jumping down into the pit to cleanse the enemy soldiers of their curse.

Luckily, the northern warriors were quite tough, so even when their curse dissipated, some of them still had the energy to join us and fight back against the devil.

"Ichiro!" I heard a man call for me.

"Luca, what’s wrong!?" I asked, seeing the prince of Vista flying beside me.

"We took care of the south part. Our troops are getting inside the city through a small entrance," he replied.

I wasn’t expecting him to say that, but it couldn’t have been better timing since I needed people from our side to rile up the enslaved citizens in the outer ring.

"Get your sister and stay in the outer ring..." I said, commanding him to release as many warriors as possible to have them join us.

The battle had become total chaos, and it would only get worse as time passed.

Since the city was split into different rings, our footsoldiers took a long time to transverse the area, so it was up to the people who could fly to take down their defenses atop the walls.

’At this rate, the fight will continue until tomorrow...’ I thought.

["The imp is safe,"] Yoru said with telepathy.

My companion took the tortured Grul all the way back to our camp 10km away from the battle, where he received treatment with our potions, so I told Yoru to come back to me.

Believing that I needed to rush our advance a little more, I hovered closer to the gate in the outer ring and cast gravity magic to push away all of the brainwashed guards protecting it at the top.

Then, I raised my hand and began producing a massive orb of fire, and as I imagined it to be as hot as possible, I noticed the fireball turned to a bright blue hue.

The gates to the Iron Capital were two massive, thick slabs of iron, which required not only the help of the contraption, but a couple of guards pushing to open it. However, I wasn’t planning on opening the gates the conventional way.

Once I felt like the fireball was powerful enough, I aimed right at the center of the gate and released it, creating a massive, unintentional explosion.

Luckily, it was good enough to leave a giant hole in the gate, so all we needed to do now was help the warriors in the outskirts push their way inside.

I noticed that there were lots of enemy soldier squadrons inside the city, so it was clear that the devils didn’t send their whole army to the outskirts. Nonetheless, we also had smaller teams inside the city, causing chaos for them.

"Now, back to the priority target..." I muttered to myself, turning around and flying back to the inner rings, where Melina was fighting Baelzor.

Suddenly, as I was flying back, I felt something coming towards me at high speeds, making me use wind magic to propel myself to the side to avoid it.

Feeling the wind of the massive "projectile" crashing down behind me, I looked down and noticed it was Fuego in his dragon form, holding the dark wyvern in his claws and pinning him down to the ground.

Then, Fuego opened his mouth and released a powerful lava breath on the wyvern’s face, disintegrating it entirely and killing the Accursed Beast.

’Now I see how he destroyed the gates to the castle so easily...’ I thought, watching the brutal scene right below me.

I was still carrying my backpack with the dragon egg since Fuego didn’t allow me to take it off, not even for the battle.

Still, I wasn’t too worried about it as Vespera made the bag, so it was the best quality I could probably get in this world.

The moment that Fuego released his lava breath, I could feel the egg releasing a little bit of MP, making me wonder if the egg could feel its parent’s powers.

["Ichiro, the hydra-"] Vespera said telepathically, suddenly cutting off.

Right as she said that I felt an ominous amount of demonic energy coming from the center of the city, and five dragon serpent heads rose to the skies to a height slightly taller than the defensive walls.

The fact that I could see the monster all the way from the second ring of the city was enough for me to understand the gigantic size of the Accursed Beast.

My senses got overwhelmed as I could feel torrents of MP and demonic energy all over the city, but I still tried to fly back to the center to deal with the hydra.

However, as soon as I made a move, the emperor appeared right next to me at an incredible speed and waved his sword down, making me raise my forearm out of pure instinct.

The blow wasn’t strong enough to sever my arm, but it still pushed me down to the ground, with the emperor landing a few feet away from me.

My right arm was bleeding and felt a bit numb, but I could still move it, so I didn’t think too much about it.

The emperor had two black demons guarding his back, which would have made me wary at first.

Still, my annoyance at Throun, who kept following me around the battlefield, was so intense that I couldn’t care less about his companions.

"I was going to let your brother and your people deal with you..." I muttered.

"But if you are that eager to die, then I’ll just comply," I continued, glaring at the emperor and releasing an intimidating amount of MP.

The emperor took a preemptive step back along with the demons next to him, giving me enough time to take out my adamantite sword from my void pocket.

’Let’s end this fast...’ I thought.
